An engine exhaust treatment device is capable of combusting PM accumulated in a DPF or activating an exhaust purification catalyst even immediately after engine startup or at the time of light load operation. A combustible gas supply passage () communicates with an exhaust passage () on an upstream of a combustion catalyst (). An air supply unit () and an ignition unit () are provided in this supply passage and interlocked with a control unit (). Where a temperature of the exhaust is lower than a predetermined temperature, the control unit supplies air () to a combustible gas by the air supply unit () and causes ignition of the combustible gas by the ignition unit (), so as to cause flame combustion of the combustible gas. The temperature of the exhaust () in the exhaust passage () is increased by heat of this flame combustion.

Engine exhaust treatment device

An exhaust treatment device of a diesel engine is provided in which combustible gas is burned with oxygen in exhaust, combustion heat increases a temperature of the exhaust, and heat of the exhaust can burn and remove PM accumulating in a DPF. In order to cause a heater for radiating heat at a start of generation of the combustible gas to enter a catalyst inlet portion, and fit a liquid fuel retaining member over a periphery of the heater, a guide plate is provided to a lower face of the liquid fuel retaining member so that the air-fuel mixture moving down in the liquid fuel retaining member flows along an upper face of the guide plate out to a periphery of the guide plate.

Exhaust treatment device of diesel engine

An exhaust gas treatment device for a diesel engine capable of starting the generation of a combustible gas is provided. The device includes a combustible gas generator. A core member is fitted in the center portion of an annular wall to form an air-fuel mixing chamber between the inner peripheral surface of the annular wall and the outer peripheral surface of the core member. An air-fuel mixture gas in the air-fuel mixing chamber is adapted to be supplied from the end of the air-fuel mixing chamber to a combustible gas generating catalyst to a portion near the center thereof. A heater is used as the core member. The heat dissipating outer peripheral surface of the heater is exposed to the air-fuel mixing chamber. Heat is dissipated directly from the heat dissipating outer peripheral surface of the heater to the air-fuel mixing chamber when starting the generation of the combustible gas.

Exhaust gas treatment device for diesel engine

An exhaust gas treatment device for a diesel engine is capable of smoothly starting the generation of a combustible gas and is provided with a small combustible gas generator. A core material is fitted in the center portion of an annular wall to form an air-fuel mixing chamber between the inner peripheral surface of the annular wall and the outer peripheral surface of the core material. An air-fuel mixture gas in the air-fuel mixing chamber is adapted to be supplied from the end of the air-fuel mixing chamber to a combustible gas generating catalyst to a portion near the center thereof. A heater is used as the core material, the heat dissipating outer peripheral surface of the heater is exposed to the air-fuel mixing chamber. Heat is dissipated directly from the heat dissipating outer peripheral surface of the heater to the air-fuel mixing chamber when starting the generation of the combustible gas.

Internal combustion engine

A flammable-gas led-out pipe () has a terminal end portion () disposed in an exhaust-gas route () and a metal cylinder () is arranged at the terminal end portion () of the flammable-gas led-out pipe (). An oxidation catalyst () is disposed within the metal cylinder (). On an upstream side of the oxidation catalyst (), an air-supply passage () is opened to provide an outlet () and the flammable gas () merges with supplied air (). The flammable gas () is burnt with the oxidation catalyst () to produce catalyst-combustion heat, which is radiated from an outer peripheral surface of the metal cylinder () into the exhaust gas () in the exhaust-gas route () and the exhaust gas () heated by this heat-radiation is mixed with the flammable gas () that has passed through the oxidation catalyst ().

Exhaust device for a diesel engine

The present invention has an object to provide an exhaust device for a diesel engine capable of surely burning flammable gas in an exhaust route. In the exhaust device for the diesel engine, liquid fuel () is supplied from a liquid-fuel supply source () to a gas generator (). The gas generator () converts the liquid fuel () to flammable gas () and has a flammable-gas flow outlet () of the with which an exhaust route () is communicated upstream of a diesel-particulate-filter (). The flammable gas () flowed out from the flammable-gas flow outlet () is burnt with oxygen in exhaust gas () to produce combustion heat. The exhaust gas () heated by the thus produced combustion heat can burn the exhaust-gas fine particles remaining at the filter (). The gas generator () is provided with a catalyst chamber () which houses a catalyst (). Catalyst-combustion heat is generated in the catalyst chamber () which is arranged along an external periphery of a peripheral wall () of the exhaust route ().

An exhaust device for a diesel engine supplies liquid fuel () from a supply source () of the liquid fuel () to a gas generator () which converts the liquid fuel () to flammable gas () and from which a flammable-gas supply passage () is conducted, the flammable-gas supply passage () having a flammable-gas outlet () communicated with an exhaust-gas route () upstream of a diesel-particulate-filter (), the flammable gas () flowed out of the flammable-gas outlet () being burnt in exhaust gas () to generate combustion heat which can burn fine particles of the exhaust gas () remaining at the filter (). In this exhaust device for a diesel engine, a case () for containing the filter () accommodates at least part of the gas generator ().

Each of paired centrifugal weights are interlockingly connected to an advancing spring, which is interlockingly connected to a temperature-sensing operation device. When cold-starting the engine, the advancing spring is maintained extensible based on a state of the temperature-sensing operation in which the temperature-sensing operation device senses a temperature to operate. This advancing spring exerts a spring force, which pushes and widens the paired centrifugal weights to an advancing position. While the engine is warm, the advancing spring is held contracted based on another state of the temperature-sensing operation device, in which the temperature-sensing operation device senses a temperature to operate, so that the spring force of the advancing spring does not act on the paired centrifugal weights. A shape memory spring composed of a compression coil spring is used for the temperature-sensing operation device.
