A female coupling member of a pipe coupling is provided which has a fluid passage and a vale therein. The fluid passage is separated by the valve into a first-end side adapted to be connected to a conduit and a second-end side adapted to be connected to a male coupling member. The valve is moveable between an open position for permitting a fluid to flow between the first-end side and the second-end side, and a closed position for blocking the flow of fluid. The valve is provided with a purge flow path that allows the second end side of the fluid passage to communicate with the outside when the valve is in the closed position, and that blocks the communication between the fluid passage and the outside when the valve is in the open position. Thus, the present invention simplifies the purge mechanism of the female coupling member which releases the fluid pressure remaining within the fluid passage when the valve is in the closed position.

Female coupling member of a pipe coupling

A female coupler suitable for use with a high pressure fluid is provided. The female coupler has locking members or balls adapted to be forced into engagement with a male coupler inserted into the female coupler by a sleeve or outer movable member. The sleeve is held by holding members or balls until the male coupler is inserted into the female coupler and a locking ball receiving recess formed in the exterior surface thereof is brought into a position for receiving the locking balls therein. Accordingly, the sleeve is prevented from moving to a position for forcing the locking ball into the locking ball receiving recess even if the male coupler is suddenly moved out from the female coupler, which is a problem that can occur in prior art female couplers. Further, the sleeve is provided with handle. An operator can grip the handle to hold the female coupler and align it with the male coupler, and advance the former towards the latter so that male coupler is inserted into the female coupler and, then, the sleeve is moved to the locking position.

Pipe coupler

A power screwdriver () includes a bit holder () bored to receive the shaft of a screwdriver bit () and adapted to securely hold the screwdriver bit () in place, and a housing () having a through cavity (). The bit holder () is inserted into the through cavity () so that the bit holder () is rotatable about and movable along the axis of the bit holder. This arrangement securely holds the screwdriver bit and thus, minimize rattling of the screwdriver bit during rotation.

Electric driver

An impact tool enables a front cover part to be easily attached to and detached from a housing body, with a device having a simplified structure. The front cover part has an annular fastening portion clamped to the outer peripheral surface of a front edge portion of the housing body, a cylindrical portion extending from the front end of the housing to the region of the fastening portion, and a connecting portion connecting together the cylindrical portion and the fastening portion. The fastening portion is split at a circumferential part thereof to form a pair of circumferentially opposing tongue-shaped portions. A clamping device is provided between the tongue-shaped portions, which is movable between a clamping position where it pulls the tongue-shaped portions toward each other and an unclamping position where the tongue-shaped portions are released from being pulled toward each other.

Impact tool

An electric drill apparatus having a low profile is provided which comprises an annular cutter, a motor for rotating the annular cutter, a rotary shaft assembly for rotating the annular cutter attached to its leading end about a rotating, a rotation reduction mechanism disposed between the motor and rotary shaft assembly for transmitting a driving force of the motor to the annular cutter through the rotary shaft assembly, a feed mechanism responsive to an operation of a manual handle, for moving the rotary shaft assembly along with a straight line to advance or retract the annular cutter attached to the rotary shaft assembly with respect to a workpiece, and an adhesion base for securing the electric drill apparatus to the workpiece. The annular cutter has a plurality of cutting blades comprised of cemented carbide tips fixed on its lower end, thereby it is capable of rotating at a high speed. The rotary shaft assembly has a rotating shaft which rotates in a direction different from that of a rotating shaft of the motor, thereby the drill apparatus has a low profile.

Electric drill apparatus

A fluid coupler has a female coupler member and a male coupler member which can be connected to the female coupler member by simply being inserted into the female coupler member. The female coupler member includes a first locking ball, a second locking ball and a locking ball confining ring. The confining ring has a first slanted inner surface engaging the first locking ball to partly project the first locking ball into a male coupler member receiving hole of the female coupler. The confining ring further has a second slanted inner surface and a locking ball pressing surface extending in parallel with an axis of the male coupler member receiving hole. In an insertion operation, the male coupler member first engages the first locking ball to press it against the first slanted surface, thereby axially moving the confining ring. This movement of the ring disengages the locking ball pressing surface from the second locking ball so that the second locking ball is forced by the male coupler member against the second slanted surface to move the confining ring. Upon completion of insertion of the male coupler member, a recess formed in an outer surface of the male coupler member is radially aligned with the first and second locking balls which have been moved radially outwardly and, then, receives these locking balls thereinto, whereby the locking ball confining ring returns to its initial position wherein the first slanted surface and the locking ball pressing surface engage the first locking ball and second locking ball, respectively. Accordingly, even if an excessive pulling force is applied to the male coupler member, the locking ball pressing surface prevents the second locking ball from being moved radially to thereby positively retain the male coupler member in the female coupler member.

Fluid coupler

A stop ring is made of an elastic member curved substantially in a plane into a ring shape having a first end and a second end spaced apart from each other in a circumferential direction. The first end is bent in a plane to incline inward with respect to a radial direction from the circumferential direction of the stop ring and to extend towards the second end.

A rotary cutting apparatus comprises a rotary shaft assembly having an axis and adapted to hold a cutting tool coaxial with the axis and, a feed mechanism for moving the cutting tool held by the rotary shaft assembly along the axis of the rotary shaft assembly. The rotary shaft assembly comprises a proximal rotary shaft, an intermediate, a distal rotary shaft which are successively telescopically connected, and a cylindrical housing rotatably holding the distal rotary shaft and movable along the axis together with the distal rotary shaft. The feed mechanism comprises a first rack mounted on the cylindrical housing and extending in parallel with the axis of the rotary shaft assembly, a second rack securely mounted on the body in parallel with the first rack; and, a pinion positioned between and engaged with the first and second racks.

Rotary cutting apparatus

A hand-held endless belt abrading machine comprises a base portion and a main portion, which portion is rotatable relative to the base portion around an axis extending in a forward and rearward direction of the abrading machine. The main portion comprises an air motor having a rotational shaft extending in a direction transverse to the abrading machine and projecting from the left end of the air motor, so that an abrading endless belt assembly drivingly connected to the output shaft is positioned to the left relative to the motor and the base portion which is held by a hand of an operator. When a left-handed person uses the abrading machine, the main portion is turned 180&#xb0; relative to the base portion to shift the abrading endless belt assembly to the right relative to the base portion, thereby enabling the operator to readily observe the abrading belt assembly in operation.

Hand-held endless belt abrading machine

A fluid coupler comprises a ball valve a through hole provided between a female coupler body and a valve holding casing connected to the female coupler body and surrounding the ball. The ball valve has a first flat sliding surface formed on a spherical outer surface of the ball valve which extends in a direction normal to a rotational axis of the ball valve, and a flat stop surface raised from the first flat sliding surface and reaching said spherical outer surface of said ball valve, the first flat sliding surface and the flat stop surface together defining a recess. The valve holding casing has an alignment portion formed on and raised from an interior surface thereof. The alignment portion has a second flat sliding surface slidably engaged with said first flat sliding surface. The flat stop surface is adapted to engage with the alignment portion to limit the rotational movement of the ball valve.

A female coupler and a male coupler of a pipe coupling that are easy to assemble and have a minimized passage resistance are provided. The female coupler includes a cylindrical female coupler body adapted to receive the male coupler from a front end opening thereof. A pipe connection adapter has a cylindrical connecting portion that is inserted into the female coupler body from a rear end opening thereof, and is thus connected to the female coupler body. The pipe connection adapter has two support legs extending from the front end surface of the cylindrical connecting portion. A valve support ring is secured to the distal ends of the support legs. The valve support ring has an outer circumferential surface that has a diameter smaller than the outer diameter of the cylindrical connecting portion, whereby a fluid passage is defined between the outer circumferential surface of the support ring and the wall surface of the through-hole of the female coupler body. The support legs are connected to the valve support ring at the rear end surface thereof. The male coupler has an arrangement similar to the above.

Female and male couplers of pipe coupling

A female or male coupler of a pipe coupling comprises a valve which is located in a fluid passage and is axially movable therein. The valve has a valve head which is provided with a sealing ring to be engaged with and disengaged from a valve seat formed on a wall surface defining the fluid passage of the coupler. The sealing ring is installed in an annular groove formed in the valve head. The bottom, or vicinity thereof, of the annular groove, which is isolated from the outside or the fluid passage by the sealing ring, is fluidly communicated with the exterior surface of the valve via a communication passage formed in the valve. As a result, even if a sudden large decrease in pressure is generated in the fluid passage, a pressure in the bottom, or the vicinity thereof, of the annular groove equalizes with the pressure in the fluid passage.

Valve structure for use in a pipe coupling and a pipe coupling comprising the valve structure

A fluid coupler is provided in which a male coupler is brought into a fixed connection condition in which the male coupler is fixedly connected to a female coupler member and retained at a fixed connection position relative to the female coupler member, the fixed connection condition being cancelled or broken when an excessive tension is applied to a fluid line in which the fluid coupler member is installed such that the tension acts on the male and female coupler members to separate them. A first valve is provided between and slidably engaged with the exterior surface of the male coupler member and the interior surface of the female coupler member. The first valve has a through hole having an outer end opening at an outer surface thereof and an inner end opening at the inner surface thereof to fluidly communicate with fluid passages of the male and female coupler members.

Fluid coupler automatically uncouplable in an emergency

A pipe coupling comprises a socket having a ball valve in which a through bore having one end that allows insertion of a plug is formed and a casing supporting the ball valve for rocking motion. The casing has a slot extending from its flank to the top. The slot has a flank opening and a top opening. The flank opening is wider than the top opening. A lock element is located for movement in the through bore of the ball valve. When the one end of the through bore of the ball valve is aligned with the flank opening, the lock element advances into the flank opening, thereby preventing the ball valve from rocking. When the lock element is pushed into the through bore of the ball valve by the plug, it is disengaged from the flank opening, whereupon the ball valve is allowed to rock.
