A back-pressure valve comprises a case having first and second oil chambers through which oil passes. A piston is slidably accommodated within the case to partition the first oil chamber and the second oil chamber. A spring urges the piston in a sliding direction. A projecting member and a check valve allow the first oil chamber to communicate with the second oil chamber when the pressure of the oil in the first fluid chamber reaches a predetermined pressure. An area of the piston on which oil pressure is received in the first oil chamber is made lager than an area on which oil pressure is received in the second oil chamber. A part of the piston located at an end thereof opposite to the end thereof which faces the first oil chamber communicates with the outside of the case.

Back-pressure valve and actuation system

A wing driving apparatus is made up of a flight controller part for generating a drive signal, first and second servo actuators, a first controller unit having a first drive circuit, and a second controller unit having a second drive circuit. The first controller unit includes a follower signal generator circuit for generating a follower signal. The second servo actuator includes a solenoid valve for invalidating a control to the second serve actuator based on the drive signal from the second drive circuit in response to the follower signal, whereby the second second servo actuator follows the steering wing when the first drive circuit is able to operate the first servo actuator to drive the steering wing.

Wing driving apparatus

A flight control surface control unit controls a swinging angle of a flight control surface of an aircraft by providing a swinging force to the flight control surface and swinging the flight control surface about a pivot. The flight control surface control unit comprises an actuator mounted on an airframe of the aircraft with a final output shaft of the actuator positioned coaxially with the pivot of the flight control surface. The final output shaft of the actuator and the flight control surface are connected to each other. The flight control surface is formed with a recess in the vicinity of the pivot thereof and the actuator is accommodated in the recess.

Flight control surface control unit

A control apparatus comprises a plurality of servomechanisms for controlling a control surface of an aircraft. Each of the servomechanisms is equipped with a control valve for controlling the oil pressure in hydraulic chambers of the actuator assembly operatively connected to the control surface, and a switching valve provided between the actuator assembly and the control valve and shiftable to assume driving, bypassing and damper valve positions. The switching valves of the servomechanisms are shifted to assume the driving valve position in a normal operation. If one of the servomechanisms is damaged, the switching valve of the damaged servomechanism is shifted to assume the bypassing valve position. If all of the servomechanisms are damaged, the switching valves of the damaged all servomechanisms are shifted to assume the damper valve position.

Control apparatus of control surface of aircraft

The mechanism has an actuator provided with a piston, a servo control valve which is actuated by electric input and output signals for supplying working fluid to the actuator and exhausting working fluid from the actuator, a slider which closes an oil passage from the servo control valve to the actuator and which temporarily engages with the piston of the actuator via a link mechanism, when a system for transmitting the input and output signals or the servo control valve breaks down, and a centering valve which is constructed in one body with the slider and which stops supply and exhaust of working fluid after the actuator has been returned to its neutral position by supply of working fluid to the actuator when a system for transmitting the input and output signals or the servo control valve breaks down.

Actuator

A fluid control apparatus which communicates a fluid cylinder with a fluid supply passage and a return passage, and a piston of the fluid cylinder is connected to a spoiler of an airplane. The fluid control apparatus comprises a hydraulic passage and a check valve. The hydraulic passage is capable of communicating with cylinder chambers located at both sides of the piston. The check valve is opened by hydraulic pressure generated by backward movement of the piston. The fluid control apparatus has a blow down valve characteristic so that the piston is allowed to move only in one direction by an external force when supply of fluid to the actuator is stopped because at least one of the supply passage and the return passage is damaged. The fluid control apparatus further has a retainer and a manually operable member. The retainer communicates the return passage with the hydraulic passage capable of communicating with cylinder chambers of the actuator. The manually operable member is used to located the retainer at a position wherein the return passage is communicated with the hydraulic passage. According to the fluid control apparatus, the piston of the actuator can be readily moved upon maintenance and repairs or inspection by releasing the cylinder chambers of the actuator to atmosphere.

Fluid control apparatus

An actuator including a cylinder having a longitudinal bore, a piston slidably and sealingly inserted into the cylinder, and a lock mechanism for temporarily locking the piston, the cylinder including a cylinder body having the longitudinal bore, a cylinder formed at a front end of the cylinder body and accommodating the lock mechanism, and a front wall connected to the cylinder head at a position opposite to the front end of the cylinder body and having a hole formed therein, the piston including a piston head slidably and sealingly inserted into the cylinder bore, the piston rod projecting from the piston head and slidably insertable into the hole of the front wall, a key groove formed on the piston rod at a position near the piston head, and a longitudinal hole formed within the piston head and the piston rod, wherein the diameter of the piston rod decreases from a backward position adjacent to the key groove to a forward position spaced from the piston head.

A hydraulic actuator comprising a cylinder formed with an axial cylinder chamber, a main piston provided in the cylinder chamber and dividing the chamber into a first chamber and a second chamber and further formed with a locking chamber, an annular locking groove formed in the cylinder, a locking member cooperating with the annular locking groove to lock the main piston in a predetermined position, the locking member movable between an unlocking position and a locking position, a locking-unlocking piston for moving the locking member into the locking and unlocking positions, and a pressure introducing passageway for selecting the first or second chamber that is higher in pressure and introducing the higher pressure in the selected chamber into the locking chamber of the main piston. The locking-unlocking piston is moved by the pressure introduced by the pressure introducing passageway to move the locking member into the locking and unlocking positions.

Hydraulic actuator with locking mechanism

A hydraulic servo actuator adapted to control a driven member in accordance with an operation of a servo circuit through which servo oil flows comprises a main cylinder and an associated piston, associated piston being reciprocable within the cylinder and the main cylinder divided by the piston into a first chamber and a second chamber which are adapted to be in fluid communication with the servo oil, a damper means provided within the main piston for dampening reciprocating movement of the main piston. A hydraulic servo actuator also includes a throttle means for imparting a predetermined restriction to the servo oil that flows between the second chamber and the damper means along the predetermined passage formed within the cylinder.

Servo actuator

A neutral position resetting device for a servo actuator is described, having reset means that is actuated when the control of the servo actuator by actuator valve means becomes inoperative. The reset means ordinarily separated from a spool of the actuator valve means resets the servo actuator to a neutral position by applying a driving force and forcibly moving the spool.

A swash plate plunger type pump-motor comprises a casing, a rotatable cylinder block formed with chambers, a plurality of plungers axially slideably received in the chambers, rotatable swash plate rotatably supported through a bearing within the casing, a plunger retainer adapted to prevent the plungers from disengaging from the swash plate, and a rotational shaft on which the cylinder block is fixedly mounted. The plunger retainer and the swash plate are connected with each other in such a manner that the front faces of the plunger head portions contact the swash plate and that the rear faces of the plunger head portions contact the plunger retainer. The rotational axis of the swash plate is inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to the rotational axis of the rotational shaft.

A hydraulic actuator comprises: a cylinder; a piston axially slidably received in the cylinder and having a hollow bore axially extending therein; at least a locking member radially movably retained in the piston; a ram axially slidably received in the hollow bore of the piston and having an inclined portion connecting a lower engaging portion and an upper engaging portion with a circumferential length longer than that of said lower engaging portion, said inclined portion being slidably engageable with the radially inner face of the locking member for radial movement thereof; a switch piston radially slidably mounted on the cylinder to have a radially inner face engageable with the radially outer face of the locking member; and detecting means for detecting the piston under conditions locked and unlocked with the cylinder by detecting radial movement of the locking member through the switch piston. One type of the actuators has a stepped portion which is formed on at least one of the inclined portion of the ram and the radially inner face of the locking member.

Hydraulic actuator

The hydraulic apparatus includes a valve which is closable to prevent fluid from flowing out of a cylinder chamber when the pressure of the fluid drops below a predetermined level, and a transmitter which opens the valve so as to keep the chamber pressure constant when a piston slidably received in the chamber moves due to heat-caused expansion of the fluid in the chamber. The apparatus is disclosed in the context of an aircraft spoiler control system.
