A pair of middle cowls is arranged at positions rightward and leftward of a vehicle component located at a position forward of an engine. Part of the right middle cowl is arranged at a position further forward than an air cleaner case. A space in the air cleaner case is divided by a filter element into a first space positioned at a position further downstream than the filter element and a second space positioned at a position further upstream than the filter element. The second space is smaller than the first space. The second space and a third space inward of the right middle cowl communicate with each other by a communicating portion. The second space, at least part of the third space, and an internal space of the communicating portion constitute a dirty side chamber of an air cleaner.

Straddled vehicle

A vehicle includes a body frame, a left front wheel and a right front wheel, a link mechanism configured to be deformed as a vehicle body leans, and vehicle components disposed directly forward of the link mechanism in relation to a front-and-rear direction of the vehicle. The vehicle components are supported on the body frame via penetrating portions that extend from the body frame toward the front of the vehicle and penetrate the link mechanism.

In a vehicle, a size of an acute angle &#x3b8;L defined by a virtual plane perpendicularly or substantially perpendicularly intersecting with an upper axis and a lower axis of a cross member and a up-and-down direction of a vehicle body frame is smaller than sizes of an acute angle &#x3b8;TR and an acute angle &#x3b8;TL which are defined by an expansion and contraction direction of telescopic elements and the up-and-down direction of the vehicle body frame, and an acute angle &#x3b8;SR and an acute angle &#x3b8;SL which are defined by axes of side rods and the up-and-down direction of the vehicle body frame. The sizes of the acute angle &#x3b8;TR and the acute angle &#x3b8;TL are greater than the size of the acute angle &#x3b8;L defined by the virtual plane perpendicularly or substantially perpendicularly intersecting with the upper axis and the lower axis of the cross member and the up-and-down direction of the vehicle body frame, and are equivalent to or smaller than the sizes of the acute angle &#x3b8;SR and the acute angle &#x3b8;SL.

A vehicle prevents interference of a right lamp and a left lamp with a link mechanism without increasing the size of the vehicle in its width direction. A right link side portion of a right lamp is located on the right of a locus along which a link mechanism extends when an upper cross portion turns when looking at the vehicle from the front of an upper middle axis. At least a portion of the right link side portion is located on the left of a right end portion of a body cover, above the upper middle axis, and below an upper end portion of the link mechanism that results when the upper cross portion turns clockwise to a maximum extent relative to a body frame, when looking at the vehicle from the front of the upper middle axis.

A vehicle includes a center transmission plate, a first center turnable portion configured to turn about a first center turning axis extending in an up-down direction, a second center turnable portion configured to turn about a second center turning axis extending in a front-rear direction, a left transmission plate, a first left turnable portion configured to turn about a first left turning axis extending in the up-down direction, a second left turnable portion configured to turn about a second left turning axis extending in the front-rear direction, a right transmission plate, a first right turnable portion configured to turn about a first right turning axis extending in the up-down direction, and a second right turnable portion configured to turn about a second right turning axis extending in the front-rear direction. A tie rod is supported on the second center turnable portion, the second left turnable portion, and the second right turnable portion.

At least a portion of a tie rod of a steering force transmitting mechanism overlaps with a portion of a first support member or a second support member when viewed from a front of a vehicle in a fully-tilted condition in which the vehicle body frame is fully tilted in the left-right direction. At least a portion of the tie rod is disposed below a second cross member, above a first front wheel and a second front wheel, behind a front end of the first front wheel and a front end of the second front wheel, and ahead of a first axis of a first side member and a second axis of a second side member when viewed from the left or right of the vehicle when the vehicle body frame is in an upright state.

A vehicle includes a body frame that leans, two front wheels, a link mechanism, and a hydraulic unit. The link mechanism includes cross members and is supported on a link support portion of the body frame. The hydraulic unit is smaller than a cross member movable area where the cross members move relative to the body frame as seen from the direction of middle axes of the cross members. The hydraulic unit overlaps at least a portion of the cross member movable area and at least a portion of external vehicle components as seen from the direction of the middle axes and between the cross member movable area and the external vehicle components in relation to the direction of the middle axes. The hydraulic unit is supported on the link support portion of the body frame that supports the link mechanism.

A vehicle includes a front end of a front portion and at least a portion of a headlamp disposed on the left of a right end of a right front wheel and on the right of a left end of a left front wheel when the vehicle is in the upright state, above upper ends of the right front wheel and the left front wheel, and below an upper end of a lower cross portion in relation to an up-and-down direction of a body frame in a position located ahead of a front end of the lower cross portion when looking at the vehicle from a side thereof.

A transformation restricting mechanism is configured to change a resisting force between a first connecting member, a second connecting member, and a caliper that are configured to be displaced relative to each other. The first connecting member includes a turn supporting portion supported by a first shock absorbing device. The second connecting member includes a turn supporting portion supported by a second shock absorbing device. The turn supporting portion is supported by the first shock absorbing device closer to a first center axis than an intermediate axis which is coincident with a turning axis of a steering shaft when the vehicle body frame is in an upright state. The turn supporting portion is supported by the second shock absorbing device closer to a second center axis than the intermediate axis when the vehicle body frame is in an upright state.

A vehicle includes a stop element supported on a first support portion which is provided on any one of a link mechanism, a body frame, a right shock absorbing device, and a left shock absorbing device at a first end portion thereof so as to turn about a support axis of the first support portion, a lock caliper supported on a second support portion which is displaced relative to the first support portion and which is provided on any one of the link mechanism, the body frame, the right shock absorbing device, and the left shock absorbing device and which is configured to change a frictional force with the stop element, and a guide member which guides a middle portion or a second end portion of the extended member to the lock caliper. A turning angle of the stop element relative to the first support portion based on a turning operation of a first cross member and a second cross member relative to the body frame is smaller than a turning angle of the first cross member or a turning angle of the second cross member relative to the body frame based on the turning operation.

A shock absorber is provided having an exterior that looks like a two-piece structure formed with an outer tube and a separate bracket without using the separate bracket. Also provided is a straddle type vehicle having a shock absorber and a manufacturing method for the shock absorber. The shock absorber comprises a cylindrical outer tube, wherein the outer tube includes a first cylindrical part, and a second cylindrical part having an outer surface roughness greater than the outer surface roughness of the first part. The first part and the second part are adjacent each other in a longitudinal direction of the outer tube, and the second part has an equipment attaching section adapted for attaching a piece of equipment.
