An image reader (A) includes a conductive case (), a substrate () and a plurality of light receiving elements. The image reader (A) further includes a first electrode () formed at the case () and a second electrode () formed on the substrate (). The case () is formed with an accommodation recess (g), in which a conductive contact member () is provided. The conductive contact member () is held in contact with the first electrode () and the second electrode () to electrically connect the two electrodes to each other while separating the first electrode () and the second electrode () from each other.

Image reading device

An inkjet printer comprises an inkjet printing head. The printing head has a reduced width in a main scanning direction, is compact, and assures improved printing quality. In the printing head, a head base plate has ink channels and nozzle rows. The ink channels and nozzles are in communication with pressure chambers. The nozzle rows are arranged in an inclined manner along a sub-scanning direction, and are arranged with spaces wider than a printing width in the sub-scanning direction. Different colors of ink are supplied to the ink channels so as to print images in colors such as yellow (Y), magenta (M), cyan (C) or black (BK).

Inkjet printing head and inkjet printer

An inkjet printing head which is capable of being assembled efficiently and easily. In the inkjet printing head, a main frame has a hollow portion for receiving a flexible cable therein, and a sub-frame has a rimmed window for receiving a flexible member. The main frame and sub-frame are combined such that the flexible cable and flexible member are sandwiched therebetween. The hollow portion of the main frame, the flexible cable and the rimmed window of the sub-frame have the same shape so that these members can be reliably positioned with respect to one another. Electrodes on the flexible cable are pressed, with a uniform pressure, to piezoelectric elements of a head assembly attached to the main frame.

A nozzle arrangement structure in an ink jet print head. A plurality of pressure chambers are arranged in circular form, and a plurality of nozzles receive an ink supply from the corresponding pressure chambers and are arranged in an zig zag arrangement to obtain a small interval between the dots. Two straight lines concerning the zig zag arrangement are inclined against a printing direction and a direction perpendicular to the printing direction. When an ink discharge from the nozzles is controlled, preprocessing of serial data is carried out by hardware.

Ink jet printer and ink jet print head thereof

An ink jet printhead is provided which includes a head body. The head body includes a passage forming panel formed with a plurality of grooved ink passages each communicating with a discharge port, and a vibration plate laminated on the passage forming panel to face the ink passages. The vibration plate is provided with a plurality of ink inlet ports for introducing ink into the ink passages. Therefore, an ink cartridge may be connected from behind the head body.

An ink jet printing head which both realizes a higher density and prevents a failure in ink jetting and deterioration in the printing quality. A photosensitive glass substrate which allows anisotropic etching is provided with a multiplicity of individual ink passages each having a narrow width and a large depth formed in an array by anisotropic etching in such a manner that each extends from the rear end of the glass substrate to the forward end thereof. A diaphragm is attached to the surface of the glass plate on which the individual ink passages are formed in such a manner as to cover all the individual ink passages. A common electrode is provided on the diaphragm, and individual piezoelectric elements are fixed to the common electrode at the portions corresponding to the individual ink passages. Individual electrodes are provided on the respective individual piezoelectric elements. When a voltage is applied to the common electrode and the individual electrode, the portion of the diaphragm corresponding to the individual electrode is bent and deformed, so that the ink storing capacity of the corresponding individual ink passage is reduced and some of the ink in the individual ink passage is forced out.

Card printer and method of printing on cards using the same

An image sensor has a case, a glass cover attached to its upper surface, a head plate carrying a plurality of image sensor chips, a plurality of light-emitting elements for illuminating a document placed on the glass cover and a rod lens array for focusing the reflected light from the document on the image sensor chips, and a light-conducting member which is placed inside the case for effectively directing the light from the light-emitting elements to a specified area of the glass cover. The upper surface of the rod lens array at both its ends is compressed by compressing members formed at both end parts of the light-conducting member. The rod lens array is inserted from above into a holder having a groove formed inside the case. The holder may have protrusions formed for engaging with an edge on the upper surface of the rod lens array approximately in the middle in the longitudinal direction for easy attachment.

Nozzle arrangement structure in ink jet print head

A thin film thermal printhead is provided which comprises a head substrate having a first longitudinal edge and a second longitudinal edge, a glaze layer formed on a surface of the head substrate, a patterned resistor layer formed as a thin film on the glaze layer to provide a strip of heating dots extending along the first longitudinal edge of the head substrate, and a patterned conductor layer formed on the resistor layer for selectively supplying power to the heating dots. The glaze layer extends from the first longitudinal edge toward the second longitudinal edge of the head substrate, and has a normal flat surface portion and a rounded marginal surface portion continuous with the normal flat surface. The rounded marginal surface portion extends along the first longitudinal edge of the head substrate and progressively approaches the head substrate toward the first longitudinal edge. The heating dots strip is located at least partially at the rounded marginal surface portion of the glaze layer.

Method of making a thin film thermal printhead

A method is disclosed for producing an ink jet print head which both realizes a higher density and prevents a failure in ink jetting and deterioration in the printing quality. A multiplicity of individual ink passages, each having an narrow width and a large depth, are formed in an array by anisotropic etching a photosensitive glass substrate. A diaphragm is attached to the surface of the glass substrate so as to cover the individual ink passages. A common electrode is provided on the diaphragm, and individual piezoelectric elements are fixed to the common electrode at the portions corresponding to the individual ink passages. Individual electrodes are provided on the respective individual piezoelectric elements. A voltage applied to the common electrode and an individual electrode causes a portion of the diaphragm to corresponding to the individual electrode to be bend and deformed. The ink storing capacity of the corresponding individual ink passage is reduced and some of the ink is forced out.

An inkjet print head and inkjet printer can stabilize the characteristic of ink discharge and improve the quality of printing by providing a vibrating plate, a part of which is vibrated by deforming a piezoelectric element corresponding to a pressure chamber without transmission of the vibration to any other vibrating plate part corresponding to another pressure chamber. The inkjet print head and inkjet printer can prevent any floating in the grounding electrode. In the inkjet print head and inkjet printer, furthermore, the characteristic of ink droplet discharge can be stabilized by reducing and equalizing the distance between the grounding electrode and each of the piezoelectric element electrode. A head unit is mounted on a base which includes a support for supporting the parts of the vibrating plate corresponding to the respective nozzles. A flexible cable having electrode portions connected to the piezoelectric elements has a grounding electrode located at a position corresponding to a circular area which is defined by the pressure chambers and piezoelectric elements.

A card printer is provided which comprises a printhead, a carrier table reciprocatively movable along a movable path in facing relation to the printhead, a drive mechanism for reciprocating the carrier table, a card transfer mechanism for successively feeding each of cards onto the carrier table, and a positioning assembly for appropriately positioning the card on the carrier table. The positioning assembly comprises a pair of stopper pins which is retractably projectable from the carrier table for stopping engagement with the leading edge of the card, and a cam mechanism for causing the stopper pins to project from the carrier table when the carrier table assumes a standby position for receiving the card.

Card printer

A pair of holes are formed with a predetermined space therebetween on a long and narrow base plate. An adhesive is applied to the surface of the base plate. Head substrates each having a row of thermal resistors on the surface thereof are placed on the adhesive on the base plate such that the joint of the head substrates is positioned between the pair of holes of the base plate. The adhesive is hardened in the state in which the head substrates are pushed upward by a thruster(s) means inserted into a pair of holes while the base plate is supported from below and the head substrates is pressed from above. The base plate is bonded to a radiating plate by an adhesive only at the central portion. Thus, there is no difference in level at the joint of the head substrates, and even when the radiating plate expands due to heat, the base plate is not deformed.
