An electric circuit breaker apparatus is used in a vehicle including an electric circuit having a converter and a storage battery. The electric circuit breaker apparatus interrupts power supply from the storage battery to the converter when a collision of the vehicle is detected. The electric circuit breaker apparatus includes a power supply circuit breaker driven by a low explosive type actuator, which is actuated when a collision of the vehicle is detected. Actuation of the power supply circuit breaker interrupts a power supply path connecting a positive terminal of the storage battery to the converter and grounds a portion of the power supply path closer to the converter than the interrupted portion.

Electric circuit breaker apparatus for vehicle

An occupant protection device is applied to a vehicle including a front seat and a rear seat, and includes a first protection device and a second protection device. The first protection device includes a first gas generator and a first side airbag, which is inflated and deployed between an occupant seated in the front seat and a side portion of the vehicle by gas generated by the first gas generator. The second protection device includes a second gas generator and a second side airbag, which is inflated and deployed between an occupant seated in the rear seat and a side portion of the vehicle by gas generated by the second gas generator. The thickness of the inflated second side airbag in the vehicle width direction is set greater than the thickness of the inflated first side airbag in the vehicle width direction.

Occupant protection device

A side airbag apparatus for vehicle has an airbag and an inflator. An upper chamber, a lower chamber, and an intermediate chamber are defined by a seam in the airbag. When the airbag is deployed, the upper chamber corresponds to a shoulder of an occupant, the lower chamber corresponds to a lumbar region of the occupant, and the intermediate chamber corresponds to a thorax of the occupant. The seam guides gas from the inflator to the upper and lower chambers such that the upper and lower chambers are substantially simultaneously inflated, and the intermediate chamber is inflated after a delay. The thickness of the intermediate chamber is less than the thicknesses of the upper and lower chambers. As a result, the occupant of the vehicle is effectively protected.

Side airbag apparatus

A side airbag apparatus includes an inflator and an airbag. Gas discharged from the inflator inflates and deploys the airbag in a space between a vehicle door and an occupant seated on a front seat in a passenger compartment. The airbag has a tether that limits the thickness of the airbag when the airbag is inflated and deployed. The airbag has a pair of inner surfaces that face each other along the direction of the thickness. The tether bridges the inner surfaces of the airbag. A vehicle exterior joint portion, which couples the tether to the inner surface of the airbag located close to an inner surface of the body side portion, is located closer to a center of the airbag than a vehicle interior joint portion, which couples the tether to the inner surface of the airbag located far from the inner surface of the body side portion.

In a vehicle to which a side airbag apparatus is applied, a rear frame portion of a seat frame is arranged near a rear end of an intermediate portion in a seat back, and an intermediate pad portion of a seat pad is arranged near a front end of the intermediate portion. An airbag is provided with a main airbag and an auxiliary airbag. The main airbag is inflated between a body side portion of the vehicle and an occupant by shooting out forward from an outer side portion of the seat back by a gas jetted out of an inflator. The auxiliary airbag presses a position near the outer side portion of the intermediate pad portion forward by being inflated between the rear frame portion and the intermediate pad portion by the gas jetted out of the inflator.

A side airbag apparatus includes an inflator and an airbag. The airbag that is deployed and inflated in a space between a body side portion of a vehicle and an occupant seated on a front seat in a passenger compartment by the pressure of gas injected from the inflator. The apparatus also includes a pair of hook devices and tethers. The hook devices are located at the rear end in the airbag. Each tether extends in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle and has an end hooked to one of the hook devices and an end fixed to the front inner end of the airbag. The tethers suppress the expansion of the airbag in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle, thereby promoting the expansion of the airbag in the lateral direction of the vehicle. Further, the apparatus includes an occupant size detector for detecting the size of the occupant. When the size of the occupant detected by the occupant size detector is equal to or smaller than a reference size that is determined in advance, the hook devices release the tethers.

A side airbag device having an airbag and an inflator. The airbag has an airbag body which is unfolded and inflated, by gas supplied from an inflator, between the body side of a vehicle and an occupant's chest to head region. A projecting portion is unfolded and inflated from the airbag body in front of the occupant's head.

Side airbag device

An occupant restraining device (S) is provided with: a shielding member () to be let off from the peripheral edge (DW/VW) of a vehicle window (WF) arranged in a door of a vehicle, so as to shield the window; and a let-off means () for letting off the housed shielding member () so as to shield the window (WF). The shielding member () and the let-off means () are arranged in the door (FD). A garnish () is arranged on the peripheral edge of the door (FD) for covering the housed shielding member () so that the shielding member () is let off. An airbag device (ABM) can be arranged in the vehicle without any problem even if the occupant restraining device (S) is mounted together with the airbag device (ABM) on the vehicle.

Occupant restraining device

An occupant restraint apparatus includes a head protecting airbag which is housed on an upper part of windows. In the airbag, a front end portion of a lower edge thereof is connected to a pretensioner situated in the vicinity of a lower portion of a pillar portion, via a connecting material, and a rear end portion on the lower edge is connected to a guide block, which engages with a guide rail of a pillar portion, via a connecting material. When the airbag is deployed, a tension is generated in the lower edge of the airbag between the connecting materials by moving the block downward and by hauling by the pretensioner.

Occupant restraint apparatus

A head-protecting airbag of the present invention includes an airbag body having a gas admissive portion for covering side windows upon deployment, and a belt for pulling a lower part of the airbag body toward exterior of vehicle during deployment. The gas admissive portion includes an initially inflatable portion located along upper edge of the airbag body, and a protective portion located at side of an occupant's head. The protective portion includes a main cell that inflates thickly when a temporary joint joining the inner wall and the outer wall is separated. The airbag body folded together with the belt and housed above the windows is provided, in the initially inflatable portion, with a folded and piled portion folded and piled in vertical direction, and below the folded and piled portion, with a roll-folded portion rolled toward exterior of vehicle from lower edge side. The head-protecting airbag of the present invention is developed smoothly and stably in a clearance between the side windows and occupants' heads, even if the clearance is narrow.

Head-protecting airbag

A head-protecting airbag of the present invention is folded and housed in upper edges of side windows, and is deployable downward when inflation gas flows in between its vehicle's inner wall and outer wall. The airbag includes a protective portion located at side of an occupant's head. The protective portion includes a temporary joint. The joint joins the inner wall and the outer wall together, and separates the inner wall and the outer wall when an inner pressure of the protective portion rises after the protective portion completes development. The airbag of the present invention assures a swift development in an initial stage of inflation, and after completing development, so inflates as to have sufficient cushioning property.

The head-protecting airbag device (M) includes an airbag () provided with a gas admissive portion () and a non-admissive portion (). The gas admissive portion () includes a gas feed passage () for feeding inflation gas G toward both front and rearwards of the vehicle, and a plurality of vertical chambers () juxtaposed along front-rear direction of the vehicle. Each of the vertical chambers () includes a communication port at its upper end for communicating with the gas feed passage (). The substantial lengths of a vehicle's outer wall () and an inner wall () of the airbag () are differentiated from each other by a belt () in the periphery () of the communication port (). Thus the periphery () of the communication port () guides inflation gas (G) obliquely down and toward the vehicle's exterior (O) when inflation gas (G) flows into the vertical chamber () via the communication port. The head-protecting airbag device (M) is made compact and improves workability in the mounting work on the vehicle while ensuring downward deployment of the airbag () along the window (W).

Head-protective airbag device

A head-protecting airbag device according to the present invention includes an airbag, a roof rail garnish formed into a single plate shape for covering the interior of the folded airbag, and being provided in its lower edge with a door portion to be pushed by the inflating airbag, and an inflator. These members are assembled into an airbag module and mounted on a vehicle as a single part. The airbag module includes a cover portion located in a back side of the roof rail garnish over the generally entire length of the folded airbag. The cover portion includes a bottom wall extending from an exterior side of the door portion for covering a lower side of the folded airbag, and a side wall for covering an exterior side of the airbag. An upper part of the side wall of the cover portion is joined to an exterior portion of the garnish above the folded airbag. The head-protecting airbag device of the present invention is able to protect the airbag until it is mounted on the vehicle, and is also able to suppress a protruding amount of the roof rail garnish toward the interior when in service.

Head-protecting airbag device

A first airbag apparatus of the present invention has an airbag module, which includes an airbag and an inflator, and a displacement mechanism, which displaces the airbag module. The displacement mechanism displaces the airbag module from an original position to a predetermined position when a collision of the vehicle is predicted and displaces the airbag module from the predetermined position to the original position when the predicted collision is avoided. A second airbag apparatus of the present invention has the airbag module and the displacement mechanism, which displaces a support member. The support member displaces the airbag from the original position to the predetermined position before the airbag is deployed. The deployed airbag is supported between the support body that is displaced to the predetermined position and an occupant.
