In a cycloconverter generator, AC power required by the load is detected and a desired speed of the engine is determined based on the required AC power, operation of an actuator is controlled such that the engine speed becomes equal to the desired engine speed, and the required AC power is generated by turning on switching elements (thyristors) such that a number of the phase signal within one period of frequency of the AC power, becomes equal to a number determined by the desired engine speed, thereby preventing undesirable increase in fuel consumption and noise by operating the engine at a speed corresponding to required AC power and enabling to generate stable AC power even when the engine speed changes abruptly.

Engine driven working machine

The present invention provides a control power supply capable of stably operating to output a desired voltage as electric power, even when the input voltage thereof varies over a wide range. A power supply includes a rectification circuitfor rectifying the AC output from a power generatorand a non-insulation type DC/DC converterfor stepping down the DC output from the rectification circuit. A self-excited oscillation type converter (RCC)is provided at the following stage of the non-insulation type DC/DC converter. The input voltage which has been stepped down by the converteris input to the primary side of the RCC, and the RCCstably operates with the input voltage which varies largely to supply, from its secondary side, a power supply to an ECUor the like.

A starter motor is prevented from being rotated together with an engine after the start of a engine. When motor speed exceeds the cranking speed after the start of the engine, a speed judging sectionjudges that the starter motor is rotated together with the engine. A current-supply stopping sectioncommands to stop energizing a motorin response to the judge. After the electricity supply is stopped, if the rotation speed is reduced to a value close to the cranking speed, judging sectionoutputs a signal to cancel the current-supply stopping commands from the current-supply stopping section. The detection of the motor speed is also continued even after the ignition, and if the speed is further increased, the speed detection is stopped. If the speed is increased to a value showing complete explosion, the speed judging sectionswitches the relays to a generator.

An N-channel MOS transistor is used to configure a DC&#x2014;DC converter having good characteristics without providing a particular voltage circuit which outputs a voltage higher than an input voltage. Step-down DC&#x2014;DC converter

The invention makes an output sharing of an engine and an electric motor proper so as to suitably drive a load. When a throttle opening degree variation amount &#x394;V is within a &#x394;V, an engine E can drive a power generator G at a rated revolution speed. A switching circuitis switched in such a manner as to charge a batteryby a generated power. When the opening degree variation amount &#x394;V becomes larger than the &#x394;V, a power assist of operating the power generator G as the electric motor is set to be standby. When the opening degree variation amount &#x394;V is more than &#x394;V(&#x3e;&#x394;V), the power assist is started. In the power assist, an angle advance amount is increased. When acceleration is insufficient, it is possible to further increase a conduction angle in stages.

Engine operated machine

Engine starting performance is enhanced by a brushless motor having no rotor position detecting sensor. In the first place an engine is rotated forward and then is reversely rotated to overcome a high load region of the engine. Then, the engine is accelerated and rotated forward and started. In a light load region of the engine, the engine is immediately accelerated and normally rotated. It is judged whether the region of the engine is the high load region or light load region based on the rotation speed when the starting operation is started. After the starting operation is started, if the forward rotation speed reaches a first speed, and a second speed which is higher than the first speed is obtained even after predetermined time is elapsed, an immediate starting-judging sectionoutputs a detection signal to a starting/normal rotation control section

Engine starting device

A method of starting an electric brushless rotating machine is provided where a large startup torque is obtained with no use of any rotor position detecting device and the forced commutation can be switched to normal energization easily and smoothly. At the startup stage, any two of three-phase stator windings are energized for initial magnetization (Steps S and S ) to hold the magnetic rotor at a position. Then, the windings of the phases are energized in a sequence while gradually increasing the level of the energization (Step S ). During the forced commutation, the magnetic rotor is rotated by a rotating position detecting signal generated from a voltage signal induced on the not-energized windings to drive the output shaft of an engine. Then, the energization is canceled when the number of revolutions in the internal combustion engine determined from the rotating position detecting signal reaches its predetermined level.
