In the video signal processing device, the first color space converting section performs color space conversion on an input video signal, to generate a converted video signal configured of H, S and V signals. The first high-frequency separating section separates a high-frequency component from the luminance signal in the input video signal, to generate high-frequency luminance signals. The combining section performs a combining process based on the V signal or the S signal or both, and the high-frequency luminance signal, to generate a combined V signal or a combined S signal or both. The second color space converting section performs color space conversion on a video signal, configured of the H signal, the S signal or the combined S signal, and the V signal or the combined V signal, to generate an output video signal defined in RGB color space.

A three-dimensional video signal generator has a high-definition video signal source for generating left and right high-definition video signals having, as left and right video signals, video signals in respective effective scanning periods of odd-numbered and even-numbered field signals of a interlaced-scanning high-definition video signal composed of 1125 scanning lines and having an interlace factor of 2:1. The left and right video signals in the respective effective scanning periods of the left and right high-definition video signals supplied from said high-definition video signal source are vertically compressed in time with a compression ratio of 11:5. The compressed left and right video signals in the odd-numbered and even-numbered fields are combined into a three-dimensional video signal disposed in each of effective scanning periods of odd-numbered and even-numbered field signals of one high-definition video signal, with a pseudo vertical blanking period of a given time duration inserted between the compressed left and right video signals such that the time interval of the compressed left and right video signals becomes a 1/2 field period.

A separating filter includes a band pass filter supplied with a composite color video signal, having a resonance frequency of a chrominance sub-carrier frequency, a first circuit supplied with the output of the band pass filter for generating first and second signals having the same phase but different time relationship, and a second circuit for comparing levels of the first and second signals with a level of a reference signal and for producing the signal that has a level nearer the reference level.

A flicker preventing circuit for a television receiver is disclosed which includes a first delay line for delaying an input video signal by one horizontal sweep period and producing a first delayed signal, a second delay line for delaying the input video signal by two horizontal periods and producing a second delayed signal, a switching circuit for selecting either the input video signal or the second delayed signal, the switching circuit being switched alternately according to which of the even and odd interlaced fields, respectively, is being displayed, an adder for adding the output signal from the switching circuit and the first delayed signal each other, and a level changing circuit for changing the level of either the input video signal or the second delayed signal relative to the level of the first delayed signal.

A feedback amplifier, particularly suitable for use in the video output circuit of a television receiver, has an amplifying circuit, for example, in the form of a differential amplifier, a first feedback circuit for negatively feeding back to the input of the amplifying circuit a low frequency component of the output signal from the amplifying circuit, and a second feedback circuit having substantially the same feedback ratio as the first feedback circuit but being operative to negatively feedback to the input of the amplifying circuit a high frequency component of the output signal.

The first resonant circuit is composed of a capacitor, a primary winding of the transformer and a first variable inductance element and the second resonant circuit is composed of a capacitor, a secondary winding of the transformer and second and third variable inductance elements, wherein the quality factor Q of the second resonant circuit is much larger than that Q of the first resonant circuit. The center frequency of the frequency-response characteristic (so-called S characteristic) of the discriminating circuit can be adjusted by adjusting the second and third variable inductance elements and the linearity of the frequency response characteristic of the discriminating circuit can be adjusted by adjusting the first variable inductance element.
