Epoxy resin composition containing an epoxy resin and an organic gelling agent selected from a polyamide wax, a castor oil wax, a sorbitol derivative and an amino acid derivative, which is in the gel form and is optionally further incorporated with a latent curing agent and an electrically conductive material. Said epoxy resin composition has excellent adhesion strength even under heating and excellent shower resistance and wiping properties and is useful as an adhesive, particularly as a structural adhesive in an assembly line of automobiles.

Epoxy resin gel composition useful as an adhesive

A structural adhesive having excellent anti-corrosion properties which comprises: (A) a rubber modified epoxy resin prepared by reaction of a bisphenol epoxy resin and a butadiene-acrylonitrile-(meth)acrylic acid copolymer, (B) an urethane modified epoxy resin, (C) a latent curing agent, and (D) a rust inhibiting pigment selected from the group consisting of: (i) a rust inhibiting pigment comprising aluminum orthophosphate and a zinc compound, (ii) a rust inhibiting pigment comprising aluminum metaphosphate, a zinc compound and/or an alkaline earth metal compound, and (iii) a rust inhibiting pigment comprising aluminum metaphosphate and a zinc compound and optionally an alkaline earth metal compound, wherein the adhesive contains said rubber modified epoxy resin (A) and said urethane modified epoxy resin (B) in a weight ratio of 1:9 to 3:1, and said latent curing agent (C) and said rust inhibiting pigment (D) at 0.1 to 30% by weight and at 5 to 50% by weight respectively based on a total amount of both modified epoxy resins (A) and (B) is disclosed. The structural adhesive of the present invention has extremely excellent anti-corrosion properties and is useful for heming fixation especially at an edge between an outer panel and an inner panel of an automobile.

Structural adhesive having excellent anti-corrosion properties

A modified epoxy resin composition having improved flexibility which comprises a reaction product of an epoxy resin and a synthetic rubber reactive with an epoxy resin in the presence of a nonionic or anionic surfactant, which has uniform and stable dispersion state of the rubber in epoxy resin without increase of viscosity. The epoxy resin composition is useful as a material for adhesives and coating agents.

An improved hot-melt adhesive which comprises a styrene block copolymer resin, a tackifier and a modified polybutene which is solid at room temperature, said hot-melt adhesive having excellent durable adhesion strength, cold resistance and heat resistance with improved open time, and a tackifier composition suitable for the preparation of the hot-melt adhesive.

An improved curable epoxy resin composition comprising an epoxy resin and vulcanized rubber particles having a particle size of 0.5 to 30.mu. which are obtained by vulcanizing a dispersion of fine particles of a liquid rubber incompatible with the epoxy resin in the epoxy resin with a vulcanizing agent, and a method for the preparation of the same. The curable epoxy resin composition has excellent flexibility, mechanical strength and peel strength when cured with a curing agent, and is useful as an adhesive, coating material or molding material.
