An alkaline battery separator including 25 to 62% by mass of an alkali-resistance synthetic fiber, 5 to 25% by mass of a fibrillated organic solvent-spun cellulose fiber having a Canadian standard freeness value of 10 to 280 ml, and 33 to 50% by mass of a mercerized pulp having a Canadian standard freeness value of not less than 550 ml, wherein the fibrillated organic solvent-spun cellulose fiber intertwines with the mercerized pulp.

Provided is a planar paper for an adhesive tape, and an adhesive tape utilizing such planar paper as a backing, which has an elongation sufficient to allow the adhesive tape to be favorably adhered to an adherend surface without being accompanied by any lift and separation, but with consistently conforming to the curved surfaces and/or the rough surfaces; which is capable of providing a clear painting line left in a portion of a painted layer required in automobiles; which is capable of being easily cut by hand without requiring any tool as a blade; and which is also excellent in handleability. The planar paper comprises a polyvinyl alcohol-series fiber having a fiber breaking temperature in water of 92 to 125&#xb0; C., a tenacity of 0.5 to 3.5 cN/dtex at 10% elongation, and a breaking elongation of 17 to 60%.

Resinous-substance-impregnated planar paper and adhesive tape using the same

A nonwoven fabric containing a polyvinyl butyral fiber is provided. In particular, continuous fiber nonwoven fabrics, such as a melt-blown nonwoven fabric and a spunbonded nonwoven fabric, are preferred. By laminating a plurality of layers via an adhering layer made of such a nonwoven fabric and then heating, a laminate is obtained by a simple process. In particular, an interior material in which an inorganic fiber layer, a foam layer and a surface material layer are adhered together via the aforementioned type of adhering layers is a desirable embodiment. Such an interior material is excellent in rigidity, sound absorbency and thermal deformation resistance, and therefore is useful as an interior material to be used for cars, railway vehicles, vessels, and the like.

A separator for alkaline batteries which is obtained by bonding 5.0 to 45.0 g/mof a highly hygroscopic macromolecular compound of the crosslinking type having carboxyl group to a wetlaid nonwoven fabric comprising an alkali-resistant fiber, followed by crosslinking the macromolecular compound, wherein a silicate compound is added to the highly hygroscopic macromolecular compound of the crosslinking type in an amount of 1.0&#xd7;10to 10 mg/cmper unit area of the separator. By adding the silicate compound, absorption of the electrolyte is increased, the electrolyte can be held for a long time, the electric resistance of the separator itself can be kept small, growth of dendrite can be suppressed, short circuit due to the formed dendrite can be prevented, the volume of the negative electrode material can be increased by suppressing the thickness of the separator after absorbing the electrolyte, impact of dropping can be endured, and oxidative degradation in the alkaline dry cells can be suppressed. An alkaline primary battery can be constructed using the separator.
