Provided is an organic nanotube having a hydrophobized inner surface, formed by molecules including an asymmetric bipolar lipid molecule represented by the following General Formula (1) and a derivative thereof represented by the following General Formula (2), wherein the organic nanotube has a hydrophilized outer surface and a hydrophobized inner surface of a hollow cylinder and is formed by binary self-assembly, the organic nanotube encapsulates a hydrophobic guest in the hollow cylinder, has a function of refolding a denatured protein, and has a function of sustainably-releasing a hydrophobic drug according to the change in hydrophobicity of the inner surface of the tube or external stimulus, In Formulas (1) and (2), wherein the same symbols have the same meanings, G is a 1-glucopyranosyl group or 2-glucopyranosyl group, and n is an integer of 12 to 22. Particularly, an asymmetric bipolar lipid molecule and an ester thereof respectively represented by general formulae (1) and (2) wherein n is an integer of 18 to 22, both of Zand Zare single bonds, Y is Gly, m(s) is the same or different integer of 3 to 6, X is OH, and R is a methoxy group, an ethoxy group, or a benzyloxy group are novel substances, and can form a carboxylic acid based asymmetric nanotube by single component self-assembly or binary self-assembly.

Disclosed herein are a flux and a soldering paste based on the flux. The flux is free from a change in viscosity with age, 'skinned surface,' and 'rough and crumbling,' and is excellent in printability and solderability. The flux contains, as elements, a resin, a thixo agent, an activator, a solvent and glucopyranosylamine type nanotube. The soldering paste further contains a solder powder. Preferably, the solder powder is free from lead.

An N-glycoside type glycolipid represented by the general formula (1) shown below.G-NHCO&#x2014;R&#x2003;&#x2003;(1)(In the formula, G represents a saccharide radical other than a hemiacetal hydroxyl group bonded to the anomer carbon atom of the saccharide, and R represents an unsaturated hydrocarbon group containing ten to 39 carbon atoms.) This molecule self-aggregates and forms hollow fiber shaped organic nanotubes in water when this N-glycoside type glycolipid is dissolved, allowed to cool gradually and allowed to stand undisturbed at room temperature. The average external diameter of the nanotubes is from 70 nm to 500 nm and the average internal diameter (average diameter of the cavity) is from 40 nm to 300 nm.

Spiral shaped fibers were utilized to prepare completely novel metal oxide nanotubes comprising solely metal oxides. The metal oxide nanotubes comprise solely a hollow cylinder shaped metal oxide which may contain hydroxyl groups constituting a double helix and having hole diameter distributions containing two peak hole diameters ranging from 1 to 2 nm and from 3 to 7 nm. The tubes may be obtained by forming spiral shaped fibers from a solution of compound 1 and compound 2 and using the fibers as a template for making the nanotubes. The hydrogen adsorption and storage capacity of the metal oxide nanotubes are extremely good.

Metal oxide nanotube and process for production thereof

The present invention is a stable, nanometer scale micro-tubular aggregated material of an asymmetric double-headed lipid represented by the general formulaR&#x2014;NHCO&#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;COOH&#x2003;&#x2003;(I)(in the formula, R represents an aldopyranose radical from which the terminal reducing hydroxyl group is excluded and n is from six to twenty). The external diameter of the micro-tubular aggregated material is 10-300 nm, and the length is 0.3-10 &#x3bc;m. The micro-tubular aggregated material can be manufactured by dispersing the asymmetric double-headed lipid described above in water at pH of two to eight, next heating to 80-100&#xb0; C. to dissolve it and then gradually cooling the aqueous solution obtained.
