A rearing cage unit includes an animal residential area defined by a floor, a ceiling, and a wall; an excrement collection area adjacent to the animal residential area; and an excretion sheet in the excrement collection area to receive excrement of the animal. At least one of the floor and the wall is made of a material including resin, and has an excretion hole to allow the excrement in the animal residential area to be discharged to the excrement collection area, and the excretion hole has a size that prevents four feet of the animal from entering the excretion hole. The excretion sheet faces the excretion hole.

Rearing cage unit and rearing apparatus

In order to provide an animal fixation device and an animal fixation method which are able to euthanize and fix the animal instantaneously and steadily, a columnar cage in which animal is arranged, a rotation mechanism configured to rotate the cage, an euthanizing gas supply mechanism configured to supply euthanizing gas into the cage, and a solid refrigerant supply mechanism configured to supply a solid refrigerant into the cage are provided. The euthanizing gas supply mechanism includes a gas manifold for euthanizing which is connected to the cage so that the euthanizing gas flows on an inner wall of the cage along a circumferential direction. The solid refrigerant supply mechanism includes a solid refrigerant supply line which is connected to the cage so as to be able to supply the solid refrigerant during rotation of the cage.

Animal fixation device and animal fixation method

In a culture method of the present invention, by culturing bone marrow stromal cells or mesenchymal stem cells under a pseudo micro-gravity environment generated by multi-axis rotation, bone marrow stromal cells or mesenchymal stem cells having an average cell size smaller than that before the culture are obtained. The bone marrow stromal cells or mesenchymal stem cells thus cultured are suitable as graft cells for a central nerve diseases therapy.
