An HDD has a carriage which moves a head with respect to a medium, and a voice coil motor (VCM) which drives the carriage. The VCM has a magnet, between which and a first shell formed of a magnetic substance a magnetic circuit is formed, and a voice coil which is secured to the carriage and disposed in a magnetic gap. A depression which receives a projecting portion covering a lead of the voice coil is formed in the first shell, and thereby a projection projecting toward the coil is consequently formed. This structure partially narrows the magnetic gap and allows generation of a torque with sufficient intensity.

In a case having an almost sealed structure are provided a disk-shaped recording medium, a drive motor, a head which performs information processing, a head actuator which moves the head with respect to the recording medium, and a breathing filter. The breathing filter includes an envelope which has air permeability and in which a storing portion is defined, an inner tube arranged in the storing portion and defining a passage through the storing portion, and a collecting material filled in the storing portion and around the inner tube. The inner tube has one end communicating with a breathing hole of the case and the other end having an outlet.

A disk drive includes a casing having a mount surface. The casing houses a disk-shaped recording medium, a drive motor which supports and rotates the recording medium, a head which performs information processing for the recording medium, a head actuator configured to movably support the head and move the head relative to the recording medium. A control circuit board is arranged to overlap the mount surface of the casing. A holding seal is adhered to the control circuit board and the casing, covering a peripheral portion of the control circuit board to press the peripheral portion to the mount surface.

A disk storage system uses a disk on which servo data used for head positioning control is recorded as a storage medium. On the disk, servo burst data constructed by first to eighth burst patterns (A to H) having a recording width which is the same as a track width are recorded in a plurality of servo sectors provided in each track. The first and second burst patterns (A, B) are arranged in the opposite positions in the radial direction with the track center set as a reference (boundary position). The third and fourth burst patterns (C, D) are arranged in the opposite positions in the radial direction with the boundary between the adjacent tracks set as a reference. The fifth and sixth burst patterns (E, F) are arranged in the opposite positions in the radial direction with a preset position X1 in the range of the track set as a reference. The seventh and eighth burst patterns (G, H) are arranged in the opposite positions in the radial direction with a preset position X2 in the range of the track set as a reference.

The dimension ratio t/H of the thickness t of a flexure spring to the height (thickness) H of a slider 17 is set at 0.047 or less in order to reduce the variation in crown amount due to a temperature variation. As the ratio of the thickness t of the flexure spring to the height H of the slider decreases, the stress acting in the slider due to a difference in linear expansion coefficient between itself and the flexure spring decreases and the rigidity of the slider increases relative to the flexure spring. The dimension ratio H/L of the height H of the slider to the length L thereof is set at 0.245 or more. As the dimension ratio H/L increases, the rigidity of the slider increases and the amount of deformation of the slider due to a difference in linear expansion coefficient between itself and the flexure spring decreases. In addition, the ratio A2/A1 of an actual adhesion area A2 between the slider and a slider fixing portion of the flexure spring to a possible adhesion area A1 therebetween is reduced to 0.42 or less. Moreover, a temperature compensation member is adhered to the slider or the flexure spring.

The case unit comprises a first lock mechanism for locking HDD contained in the inner case member, and a second lock mechanism for locking the inner case member contained in the outer case member. For connecting HDD to the computer body, the inner case member is pushed from the outer case member to an outer unit by a guide mechanism. By the release of the first lock mechanism, HDD taken out from the inner case member is inserted to a slot of the computer body, and connected to the computer body through a connector.
