An excellent anti-reflection circular polarizer for preventing the reflection of external light is provided, and thereby an excellent image display device with very little degradation of anti-reflection functionality caused by decreased levels of polarization under conditions of high humidity while having little deformation of an image display panel is provided. In particular, an anti-reflection circular polarizer suitable for an organic EL image display device is provided. The anti-reflection circular polarizer includes a reflection reduction layer, a light-transmissive substrate film, a polarizing element, and a λ/4 phase-difference layer, stacked in this order, wherein the light-transmissive substrate film has a moisture permeability of 100 g/m·day or less.

Provided is a liquid crystal display device that has a wide reproduced color gamut without noticeable color unevenness even if it is an image display device that shows an steep emission spectrum in the red region, in particular, even if it comprises a light source having a steep emission spectrum in the red region, such as a KSF phosphor, as a backlight light source. The image display device comprises an image display cell and at least one polarizer, wherein the at least one polarizer is a polarizer in which light incident on the polarizer has a plurality of peak groups in the range of 600 to 650 nm, and the at least one polarizer comprises a polarizing element-protection film having a 45-degree light source fit index (FI(45)) of 0.4 or more and 0.62 or less as determined by the following formula 1:(45)=/((45)/)]  formula 1.

The invention provides a liquid crystal display device, a polarizer, and a protective film that enable suppression of the occurrence of rainbow unevenness to improve visibility in a liquid crystal display device including a backlight light source comprising white-light-emitting diode having an emission spectrum that has one or more peak tops in each of the blue region (400 nm or more and less than 495 nm), the green region (495 nm or more and less than 600 nm), and the red region (600 nm or more and 780 nm or less). The protective film contains a polyethylene terephthalate-based resin film that has a retardation of 3000 to 30000 nm, wherein the CTF value of periodic unevenness of the x value of chromaticity at an observation angle of 55 degrees is 1.2 or less.
