A composite structural body (A) includes a first metal member (M) having a plate-like shape, a second metal member (M) having a plate-like shape, and a resin member (R) that integrates the first metal member (M) and the second metal member (M) with each other. The resin member (R) includes a first resin layer (R) that coats astride one main surface of the first metal member (M) and one main surface of the second metal member (M), and a second resin layer (R) that coats astride another main surface of the first metal member (M) and another main surface of the second metal member (M). The composite structural body (A) is provided as a composite structural body that has satisfactory moldability, that is capable of securing sufficient strength, and that is suitable as a component of a structure such as a vehicle body.

Composite structure and manufacturing method therefor

Provided is a body side panel body side panel (BP) including one metal panel (P); another metal panel (P) that forms a space (A) between the one metal panel (P) and the other metal panel (P); a resin member (R) that is molded integrally with the one metal panel (P). The resin member (R) includes link ribs (A,B,A, andB) that continuously extend respectively along a front edge and a rear edge of a center pillar portion (CP), and along an upper edge and a lower edge of a sill portion (SL), and includes a lower intersection rib () that is arranged in an intersection region where a lower end portion of the center pillar portion (CP) and the sill portion (SL) intersect with each other. A clearance (S1) from a distal end portion of each of the link ribs (A,B,A, andB) to the other metal panel (P) is smaller than a clearance (S2) from a distal end portion of the intersection rib () to the other metal panel (P). Impact energy in case of side collision is released in two steps. With this, an impact absorbing function is enhanced.

Body side panel

A vehicle body structure includes a body side section () configured of a first composite component () and a body lower section () configured of a second composite component (). Each of the first and second composite components () comprises a metal plate () and a fiber reinforced thermoplastic portion () that contains discontinuous fibers. The fiber reinforced thermoplastic portion () of the first composite component () includes a lining layer formed on the metal plate () and reinforcing ribs raised from the lining layer. The fiber reinforced thermoplastic portion () of the second composite component () includes a planar portion () infilled in an opening () opened on the metal plateThe discontinuous fibers in the fiber reinforced thermoplastic portion () of the second composite component () are longer than the discontinuous fibers in the fiber reinforced thermoplastic portion () of the first composite component ().

Vehicle body structure

Provided is a body side panel including: a hat-like panel member made of a metal; another panel member made of a metal; and a reinforcing member made of a resin. The hat-like panel member includes a cross-sectionally hat-like portion formed of a top portion, edge portions, and intermediate portions coupling the top portion and the edge portions to each other. The cross-sectionally hat-like portion is joined to the other panel member at the edge portions, and forms a closed space cooperatively with the other panel member. The reinforcing member is arranged to be joined to an at least one of the top portion and the intermediate portions in the closed space. The hat-like panel member includes corner parts between the edge portions and the intermediate portions. The other panel member includes corresponding parts which correspond to the corner parts, and a rigidity of the corresponding parts is higher than a rigidity of the corner parts.

A vehicle body structure includes a resin floor part provided with a flange portion bent toward an upper side or a lower side at an end in a vehicle width direction, and a metal side sill part joined to the flange portion of the floor part. The side sill part includes a rim portion, a peak portion, and intermediate portions that link the rim portion to the peak portion. The peak portion and the intermediate portions form a protruding portion projecting from the rim portion toward the floor part. The flange portion of the floor part is joined to the peak portion of the protruding portion.

Vehicle body structure and method for manufacturing vehicle body

A body side panel includes a metal panel and plastics that are integrally-molded on the metal panel to reinforce the metal panel. The plastics include a plastic layer formed on a surface of the metal panel and ribs raised from the plastic layer. The ribs have plural straight ribs formed radially from an end edge portion of the metal panel on its outer circumferential side along the surface thereof, and a joint rib jointing the plural straight ribs so as to intersect therewith.

A motor vehicle has first and second flexible members disposed within front and rear doors in the longitudinal direction relative to the vehicle. First ends of each of the flexible members are coupled together through a coupling member which ensures coupling when the doors are closed. Respective other ends of the two flexible members are each coupled with respective lower portions of the vehicle body frame.
