The present invention provides a humidifier capable of removing microorganisms without using electric power. The humidifier includes a reservoir; a humidification system including a humidification filter arranged such that at least part thereof is immersed in water and a blowing means for discharging air through the humidification filter; and a microorganism remover including a first electrode and a second electrode having different electric potentials and opposing to each other to have a space therebetween and a short circuit part for causing a short circuit between the first and second electrodes. The first electrode is higher than the second electrode in electric potential and at least the first and second electrodes are arranged in contact with water in the reservoir.

Humidifier

Insects come into lighting fixtures, and enormous efforts are expended to clean the interior of a glove. Here is provided a repellent paint, which prevents this effect. The repellent paint is characterized in that it has at least cyclopropane carboxylate as a repellent ingredient, and comprises at least a porous carrier particle of an inorganic oxide, a surfactant, a paint binder and a solvent.

An electrochemical device for moving particles covered with a protein is provided. The device includes at least two electrodes that are in contact with a liquid containing the protein-covered particles and a circuit that generates a potential difference in a range that does not cause electrolysis of the liquid between the electrodes. The particles are moved by electrophoresis in the direction of the arrangement of the electrodes. The invention provided herein has numerous applications, including use in a microorganism concentration condensing device, a blood component induction device, and/or a blood component induction method, and/or an electric appliance that decreases the concentration of microorganisms present on the surface of a heat exchanger.

To present printed wiring boards and other electronic components having excellent cockroach repelling performance even after solder reflow or solder flow. A conductive layer having a mounting land is provided on a insulating layer as a substrate, a solder resist is applied to cover the conductive layer excluding the mounting land, and an electronic component material containing a cockroach repellent is applied on the solder resist. This electronic component material is a paste containing a resin curable by crosslinking, a cockroach repellent, and a filler such as silica or talc, and by crosslinking and curing the resin by chemical reaction, a dried cockroach repelling layer is exposed and formed on the surface of the printed wiring board.

A printed wiring board to suppresses invasion and occupation of insects having sensory nerves such as cockroaches and ants. Accordingly, it prevents malfunctioning of electronic appliances due to the presence of insects. It further avoids thickness fluctuation or blurring of the repellent layer of electronic material containing the repellent chemical. These printed wiring boards are warp-free and appear normal. A printed wiring board of the invention contains an electronic material formed on at least one of first and second surfaces of an insulating substrate. The electronic material contains a neurologically active insect and a binder. The electronic material forms a selective pattern.

An antiviral composition comprising: a thiosulfate salt and at least one of thiosulfate complex salt of a metal and a porous particulate carrier; said metal being at least one selected from the group consisting of silver, copper and zinc; said salts being carried on said porous particulate carrier. It is applicable to a wide range of living environment such as medical instruments and appliances, hygienic implements as well as kitchen utensils, and also demonstrates an antibacterial activity in addition to the antiviral activity. Antiviral composition

An antibacterial and antifungal composition which comprises an antibacterial and antifungal material carried on a porous particle carrier is provided. Preferably, the porous particle carrier is a silica gel particle. The antibacterial and antifungal material is at least one metal complex salt, and can contain plant extracts and the like in addition to the metal complex salt. At least a portion of the surface of the above-mentioned carrier having the antibacterial and antifungal composition can be coated with a coating material.

A composite plating coating includes a metal plating coating which is dispersed with an antibacterial and antifungal composition and/or a fragrant composition. Hydroponic system

A methane fermentation process wherein a strain of the genus Methanobacterium is cultivated in a fermenter containing at least a carbon source, a nitrogen source, inorganic salts and micro-flora for methane fermentation. The strain has a methanogenic activity above 8.7.times.10.sup.-8 ml/cell.day in the stationary phase of growth, exhibits the methanogenic activity even at an oxygen partial pressure of 1/30 atm. and is allowed to live under an oxygen partial pressure up to 1/5 atm. The seed of the strain is obtained by anaerobically cultivating the strain in a culture medium containing at least nitrogen sources, inorganic salts and reducing agents in a mesophilic range of 25.degree. to 45.degree. C. using a substrate such as a mixed gas of hydrogen and carbon dioxide, a formate or an acetate. The growth of the strain is facilitated when cocultured with a strain belonging to the genus Clostridium.
