An opening and closing mechanism includes: an opening and closing door that is supported rotatably so as to be movable between a closed position where to close an opening of an apparatus body and an open position where to open the opening; a link member that is supported rotatably by a rotary shaft that is attached to the apparatus body; a guide member having a first guide surface that moves being kept in contact with the link member when the opening and closing door is moved toward the closed position and a second guide surface that moves being kept in contact with the link member when the opening and closing door is moved toward the open position; and a switching member that guides the link member from the first guide surface and the second guide surface.

An opening-closing mechanism includes an opening-closing panel that is rotatably supported so as to be movable between a closed position and an open position; an engagement member that is rotatably supported by the opening-closing panel; a link member that is rotatably supported by a rotating shaft provided on the apparatus body; and a guide member that is supported by a support shaft on the opening-closing panel so that the guide member is rotatable in a rotation direction and movable in a direction that crosses the rotation direction. An image forming apparatus includes: a sheet tray; an image forming unit that forms an image on a recording sheet; a sheet transporting path that allows a transportation of the recording sheet fed from the sheet tray to the image forming unit; and a sheet detecting unit that detects a passage of a rear end, with respect to a direction in which the recording sheet is transported, of the recording sheet along the sheet transporting path. The transportation of the recording sheet is temporarily stopped at the time of, or after a predetermined time from when the rear end is detected by the sheet detecting unit. The transportation of the recording sheet is resumed on the basis of data on a size of the transported recording sheet and a timing of image formation by the image forming unit.

Image forming apparatus for forming an image in an accurate position

A conveying apparatus includes a conveying unit that includes a conveying passage for conveying a conveyed material, and a positioning and holding unit that holds the conveying unit while positioning the conveying unit. The positioning and holding unit includes a plate-shaped member having at least one protruding portion, the plate-shaped member constitutes a part of the conveying passage, and the at least one protruding portion protrudes towards the conveying passage which the conveyed material passes through.
