A rotary type electrostatic spray painting device comprising a rotary shaft and a spray cup-shaped head fixed onto the front end of the rotary shaft. Paint is fed onto a cup-shaped inner wall of the spray head. The rotary shaft is supported by a single thrust air bearing, a pair of radial air bearings, and a non-contact type rotary shaft supporting device having a permanent magnet. The permanent magnet is arranged near a circumferential outer wall of a hollow portion of the rotary shaft for supporting the rotary shaft by the attracting force of the permanent magnet. An electrode, continuously contacting the rear end of the rotary shaft, is provided. A negative high voltage is applied to the housing of the paint device. In addition, the negative high voltage is also applied to the spray head via the electrode and the rotary shaft.

Rotary type electrostatic spray painting device

A rotary type electrostatic spray painting device is comprised of a housing and a rotary shaft. The housing has an end plate having a circular hole, and the rotary shaft has a front end which passes through the circular hole. The diameter of the front end of the rotary shaft is slightly smaller than that of the circular hole thereby permitting air to pass therebetween. A spray head is fixed onto the tip of the front end of the rotary shaft at a distance from the end plate. Paint is fed onto the cup shaped inner wall of the spray head. The rotary shaft is supported by a single thrust air bearing and a pair of radial air bearings which are arranged near the rotary shaft at a hollow portion thereof. An electrode, continuously contacts the rear end of the rotary shaft to electrically connect a negative high voltage at the housing of the device to the spray head via the rotary shaft.

A rotary type electrostatic spray painting device is provided with a rotary shaft and a spray head fixed onto the front end of the rotary shaft. Paint is fed onto the cup-shaped inner wall of the spray head. The rotary shaft is supported in a no-contact state by a single thrust air bearing, a pair of radial air bearings, and a magnetic bearing arranged between the radial air bearings. An electrode for providing continuous electrical contact with the rear end of the rotary shaft, is cooled by being at least partially arranged in a flow path of compressed air. The thrust air bearing comprises an annular plate fixed onto the housing, and a pair of runners fixed onto the metallic rotary shaft and arranged on each side of the annular plate. A plurality of radially extending air passages is formed in the annular plate. A plurality of air outflow bores is formed on the side walls of the annular plate. Each of the air outflow bores is connected to an inlet for receiving compressed air via the corresponding air passage.

Paint is fed onto the cup-shaped inner wall of the spray head. The rotary shaft is supported by a single thrust air bearing and a pair of radial air bearings. In addition, the negative high voltage is also applied to the spray head via the electrode and the rotary shaft. The spray head comprises a spray head body and a spray head supporting member. The spray head body has a cylindrical inner circumferential wall which is fitted onto the cylindrical outer circumferential wall of the spray head supporting member. A radially inwardly projecting annular projection is formed on the rear end of the cylindrical inner circumferential wall of the spray head body. A thin extending portion, passing through the annular projection and extending backward from the rear end of the spray head supporting member, is formed in one piece on the rear end of the spray head supporting member. The tip of the thin extending portion is radially outwardly bent and pressed onto the rear end face of the annular projection.

A negative high voltage is applied to the housing of the paint device. In addition, the negative high voltage is also applied to the spray head via the electrode and the rotary shaft.
