The differential transmission cable comprises a cable having at least one pair of differential transmission lines, one or more transmission transformers, and connectors at both ends, the transmission transformer having an integrally sintered laminate structure and a coupling coefficient of 0.65 to 0.98 at 100 MHz, the distance between a center of the transmission transformer and a tip end of the closest connector being within 0.1 m, and the distance between a center of the transmission transformer and a tip end of the farthest connector or between a center of the transmission transformer and a center of the other transmission transformer being 0.5 to 4 m. The transmission transformer is mounted onto a substrate, which is inserted into the connector or a housing of the connector having lands or a positioning holder. After wiring, the connector including the substrate is integrally resin-molded.

A nonmagnetic oxide substrate material has a composition of 15 to 60 mol % of NiO, 10 to 70 mol % of CoO, 10 to 40 mol % of TiO.sub.2, and 0.5 to 25 mol % of CaO and is formed of very minute crystal grains. Preferably MgO or ZrO.sub.2 is used as an additive to the material to present a total composition containing the additive of 0.5 to 3 wt % per 100 parts by weight of the nonmagnetic oxide substrate material. Preferably, the substrate material is formulated to have a thermal expansion coefficient falling in the range of from 100 to 140 X 10.sup.-7 /.degree.C. A magnetic head using this substrate material reduces the loss in surface smoothness due to the relative slide with the magnetic tape.

MnO/NiO-based nonmagnetic substrate material

A flying-type composite magnetic head comprising a slider made of a non-magnetic ceramic and having side rails extending longitudinally on both lateral sides of the head; a slit extending longitudinally in one of the side rails; and a magnetic core. The magnetic core is constituted by a pair of core pieces bonded to each other with a first glass layer and fixed in the slit of the slider with a second glass layer on both sides of the magnetic core. The core pieces have flat opposing surfaces parallel to each other for defining a magnetic gap with at least one of the opposing surfaces formed with an Fe-Al-Si thin layer. Flying-type composite magnetic head

A flying-type composite magnetic head includes a slider made of a non-magnetic ceramic and having side rails extending longitudinally on both lateral sides of the head; a slit extending longitudinally in one of the side rails; and a magnetic core constituted by a pair of core pieces bonded to each other with a first glass and fixed in the slit with a second glass on both sides of the core. At least one of the opposing surfaces of the core pieces is formed with an Fe-Al-Si thin layer and the opposing surfaces of the core pieces constitute a magnetic gap of the magnetic core. Gaps formed on both sides of the magnetic core in a region exposed to an air-bearing surface of the head are filled with the second glass to improve the flatness of the air-bearing surface of the head.

The present invention relates to a magnetic head in which a magnetic metal film comprising a Co-containing amorphous alloy and a crystallizable glass of the PbO-B.sub.2 O.sub.3 -ZnO system as a solder glass are used. The magnetic head of the present invention has about 2 times higher recording density than the conventional one as a magnetic head for floppy disks and hard disks because an amorphous alloy is used. Since a crystallizable glass is used as the glass, there can be obtained a magnetic head having a high strength and superior humidity resistance and reliability.
