A travel control apparatus for a forklift is disclosed. The forklift is provided with a loading device that performs load handling operations by raising and lowering a load, and a drive motor which generates a drive force for travel and is capable of generating a braking force. The apparatus is provided with a sensor for detecting the speed of the motor, a seat switch, a height switch, a load sensor, and a control section. The control section causes the drive motor to generate a braking force when the seat switch detects that the driver has left the seat in the case where the motor speed sensor detects a traveling state, and also changes the strength of the braking in accordance with the height of the loading device and the weight of the load.

Travel control apparatus for industrial vehicle

A traveling operation detecting portion detects traveling operation and non-traveling operation selectively. The traveling operation corresponds to operator operation that involves traveling of an industrial vehicle. The non-traveling operation corresponds to operator operation that does not involve the traveling of the industrial vehicle. An upper setting portion selectively sets a first engine speed upper limit and a second engine speed upper limit, which are different from each other, as an upper limit of an acceptable speed range of an engine in correspondence with a detection result of the traveling operation detecting portion. A drive control apparatus for a forklift. Based on the load state, it is determined whether to limit a maximum vehicle speed and an acceleration/deceleration during traveling of the forklift. Limitation contents regarding the maximum vehicle speed and the acceleration/deceleration is determined based on a determination result of whether to put the limitations. A speed of the engine is adjusted based on the determined limitation contents, thereby controlling driving of the forklift. When the determined limitation contents are changed, an acceleration/deceleration limitation value is selected from a plurality of acceleration/deceleration limitation values according to the pattern of the change of the limitation contents, and drive control related to the acceleration/deceleration is executed to limit the acceleration/deceleration of the forklift by using the selected acceleration/deceleration limitation value.

A load determining section of a drive control apparatus for forklift determines a load state related to a loading attachment. In a case where a connection determining section determines switching to a connection state, if the load state determined by the load determining section requires that driving of a vehicle body be limited, a disconnection control section forcibly disconnects a transmission of a driving force to a drive wheel. Thus, the forklift is prevented from being started in a state that is likely to make the driving of the forklift unstable.

When a determination result of a limitation determining section during a driving of a forklift is positive, a control section limits a vehicle speed and adjusts an engine speed. If a limitation canceling condition is met while the vehicle speed is limited, a control section cancels a vehicle speed limitation state, and executes a loading priority control in which an actuation of a loading device is prioritized. Thus, when a loading device is actuated during driving with a speed limit, the stability of the forklift is ensured while improving the workability of the loading operation.

An anomaly judgment system includes an actuating switch and an anomaly judgment unit for judging anomaly of an operator detection device that is turned into an ON state when detecting an operator in a vehicle. The actuating switch is operable to be turned into an ON state by the operator. The anomaly judgment unit judges the operator detection device as anomalous when a time period during which the actuating switch is in an OFF state with the operator detection device in the ON state exceeds a predetermined time period.

An assembly for mounting a sensor, which measures a running state of a vehicle, on the vehicle at a predetermined positional relationship to the vehicle. The assembly includes a control unit for controlling the vehicle based on a signal transmitted from the sensor and a circuit board. A lift vehicle and a method for initializing a controller for controlling a lifting mechanism of lift vehicle. The controller controls the maximum forward tilt angle of a mast by controlling a solenoid of a hydraulic circuit. The controller employs a stored map or equation that defines a relationship between the forward tilt limit and another parameter. When the mast is tilted at two degrees, a CPU reads the detection value of a tilt angle sensor and sets it as a reference value. The reference value is used to calibrate the controller. The same function information can be used for many types of lift vehicles by selecting the appropriate control ranges for each vehicle.

Lift mechanism controller and control method for industrial vehicles

An apparatus in a forklift for detecting the height of a fork in stages. Two sensors are arranged longitudinally on the mast. Each sensor includes a switch that has two states. The state of each switch can be changed by movement of the fork. Each switch is connected to input terminals of a controller. The signal at each input terminal changes between two levels in accordance with the state of a corresponding switch. A memory in the controller stores data that defines the relationship between ranges of movement of the fork, or zones, and the combination of the signals. The controller judges the height of the fork when the combination of signals corresponds to a combination that exists in the data. The controller judges that there is an abnormality when the combination does not exist in the data. This permits detection of malfunctioning switches and a cut and a short-circuited wiring.

Position detector for industrial vehicles

A tilt control valve controls the flow of hydraulic oil to actuate the tilt cylinders of a forklift mast. The tilt control valve is switched between two positions by the forklift operator by means of a tilt lever. When at one position, the tilt control valve stops flow of oil to the tilt cylinders, thereby prohibiting tilting of the mast. When at the other position, the tilt control valve permits oil flow to the tilt cylinders, thereby allowing tilting of the mast. A control valve is located between the tilt cylinders and the tilt control valve. A seat switch detects whether or not the operator is sitting on the seat. A CPU permits the operator to continue to operate the tilt cylinders to tilt the mast when out of the seat for a brief period. However, after the brief period, the CPU closes the control valve to prevent movement of the mast unless the operator has returned to the seat. When the mast reaches a predetermined maximum acceptable tilt angle, the CPU also closes the control valve, thereby prohibiting motion of the tilt cylinders.

In order to detect with high accuracy a current which may adversely affect an electric circuit if continued for an extended time, an apparatus periodically samples an output of a current sensor connected to the circuit and includes a memory storing data of current values regarded as representing overcurrents in consideration of the respective durations thereof. The current values are stored in pairs with time values representing the durations. The sampled value is compared with the current values stored in the memory while duration of the sampled value is compared with the time value paired with that current value.
