What the present invention discloses is that in such a lens system that the degree of focus of an object image on the focal plane is decreased by zooming, when the decrease in the degree of focus of the object image by zooming is large, the zooming operation, or the speed of variation of the focal length is made slower.

Automatic focusing device

A still video camera in which the image of an object formed on a photoelectric conversion surface by a picture-taking lens is scanned to generate video signals, which are recorded on a magnetic disc rotating at a predetermined speed. An indication lamp is provided in a finder and is turned on by the first stroke of a trigger member which starts rotation of the magnetic disc which is turned off by a control apparatus when rotation of the disc has reached a predetermined speed indicating the appropriate time for the second stroke of the trigger member which starts recording.

In the disclosed camera system, a spring arrangement to drive an automatic exposure mechanism of a camera and a magnet arrangement to control starting and stopping of the AE mechanism of the camera are provided within an electric drive device, and the automatic exposure control of the camera is carried out by mounting the electric drive device on the camera. Facilities, when energized by a power supply, are set to supply driving power to a motor for cocking the shutter, and an arrangement supplies power from the power source to the magnet arrangement for actuating the magnet arrangement. This invention relates to a cinematographic camera and more particularly to a method of controlling operation of the cinematographic camera in accordance with a sequence of instructions programmed to carry out a photographic process. This arrangement solves the problem of phase discrepancy arising between the camera body and the electric motor drive device when they are separated from each other.

There is provided a focusing system having an autofocusing device. In the focusing system, the range for manual focusing is set beyond the range for autofocusing within which automatic focus adjustment with the autofocusing device operates. The focusing system includes means for operating the autofocusing device to operate automatic focusing of an optical system to be focus adjusted irrespective of the adjusted position of the optical system within the range of manual focusing. Thus, when autofocusing start means is operated, it is possible to automatically adjust the focus of said optical system within the range of autofocusing by the autofocusing device no matter what position the optical system has been taken within the manual focusing range.

In the camera and film winding apparatus disclosed, a motor is adapted to wind the film and a driving arrangement supplies the motor with a first signal to drive the motor so that the film is wound at a normal speed between frames, but at a lower speed than at the normal speed from the film loading position to the photographic start position.

In the disclosed motion picture system a shutter drive control circuit renders it possible to operate a rotary shutter in various exposure control modes including a mode in which rotation of the shutter is stopped for each long exposure of motion picture frame, the system can defer release of the shutter to the exposure aperture closed position pending completion of a picture frame exposure in any of the modes. The system terminates the preceding manual actuation of a shutter trigger when the taking of the particular picture frame is in progress.
