An imaging device includes an optical element including a transparent substrate, and a plurality of structures disposed on or in the transparent substrate in a plane direction of the transparent substrate, an imaging element in which a plurality of pixels including photoelectric conversion elements are disposed, and a signal processing unit configured to generate an image signal based on an electrical signal acquired from the imaging element, wherein the optical element forms an image in which a point spread function of each wavelength is convoluted on a plurality of pixels corresponding to each polarized light component depending on polarized light components by outputting light in a state in which the optical element has different point spread functions for respective wavelengths, the plurality of structures have the same height in a side view, and the signal processing unit reconstructs an image in which a point spread function is convoluted.

Hyperspectral imaging device capable of acquiring polarization information and optical element thereof

An optical element includes a transparent layer for covering a plurality of pixels each including a photoelectric conversion element; and a plurality of structures disposed in a plane direction of the transparent layer, on a side opposite to the plurality of pixels with at least a part of the transparent layer interposed therebetween. The plurality of structures are disposed in multiple layers to guide light of a color corresponding to each of the plurality of pixels among incident light to a corresponding pixel.

Optical element having both color filter function and lens function, image sensor thereof and imaging device

Provided is a highly-sensitive image-capture element and an image capture device that can be simply manufactured, have little polarization dependency, and have micro-spectroscopic elements capable of separating incident light into three wavelength ranges integrated facing a pixel array. An image capture element has a transparent layer having a low refractive index made of SiOor the like and a plurality of micro-lenses laminated on a pixel array in which pixels each including a photoelectric conversion element are disposed in an array. Inside the transparent layer having the low refractive index, micro-spectroscopic elements composed of a plurality of microstructures having constant thickness (length in a direction perpendicular to the pixel array) formed of a material such as SiN having a higher refractive index than that of the transparent layer is embedded.

An image capturing element according to the present disclosure includes a pixel array formed by a plurality of pixels arranged in an array on a substrate, each of the plurality of pixels including a photoelectric conversion element, a transparent layer formed on the pixel array, and a spectroscopic element array formed by a plurality of spectroscopic elements arranged in an array, and each of the plurality of spectroscopic elements is at a position corresponding to one of the plurality of spectroscopic elements inside or on the transparent layer. Each of the plurality of spectroscopic elements includes a plurality of microstructures formed from a material having a refractive index higher than a refractive index of the transparent layer. The plurality of microstructures have a microstructure pattern. Each of the plurality of spectroscopic elements separates incident light into deflected light beams having different propagation directions according to the wavelength.

To provide an optical multiplexing circuit that can accurately monitor light of a plurality of wavelengths, and that can mitigate allowable errors in manufacturing. The present invention includes a plurality of branching units that each divide light output from a corresponding one of a plurality of input waveguides; a multiplexing unit that multiplexes beams each being one beam of the light divided by each of the plurality of branching units; an output waveguide that outputs the light multiplexed by the multiplexing unit; and a plurality of monitoring waveguides that each output another beam of the light divided by the plurality of branching units, wherein a plurality of optical multiplexing circuits including multiplexing units having different multiplexing characteristics are provided on a same substrate.

A low-loss optical switch device with a smaller number of ports for an optical switch in a network and node device capable of transmitting OCS-type and OPS-type optical signals is provided. The optical switch device includes: a high-speed add/drop optical switch composed of a plurality of optical switches, the optical switch having an optical waveguide structure made of a material whose refractive index or absorption coefficient changes on the order of nanoseconds, and the optical switch changing the refractive index or the absorption coefficient to perform switching of both OCS optical signals, which are optical-circuit-switching-type optical signals, and OPS optical signals, which are optical-packet-switching-type optical signals; and a plurality of circulators connected to an input port and an output port of the high-speed add/drop optical switch.

Image sensor and imaging device

An optical switch is provided which is capable of driving control by the same FPGA and the same driving circuit configuration, and hence is capable of driving at a high speed and a low consumption power. The optical switch of the present disclosure is a 1×N optical switch having a structure in which with respect to an optical switch, a driving circuit of the optical switch is integrated in the vicinity of a control electrode of the optical switch. The optical switch includes a plurality of 2×2 optical switches and N optical gates. Different bias voltages (V) are set between the optical switches and the optical gates, and a driver for the 2×2 optical switch of the driving circuit and a driver for the optical gate are of the same circuit form.

1 x N optical switch

A wavelength tunable laser includes a filter region having a wavelength selection function on light from a gain region, wherein the filter region is a Sagnac interferometer and includes two ring resonators. The ring resonator has two optical couplers, and first and second curved waveguides connecting the two optical couplers, each of the two optical couplers is configured to receive input of the light from the gain region through an input-output port, to couple light of a resonant peak to a bar port of the input-output port, and to couple light except light at a resonant peak wavelength to a cross port of the input-output port, and the first curved waveguide connects the bar ports of the input-output ports of the two optical couplers, and the second curved waveguide connects the cross ports of ports, of two optical couplers, that the first curved waveguide is connected to.

Tunable laser

A wavelength tunable laser includes a filter region having a wavelength selection function on light from a gain region, wherein the filter region is a Sagnac interferometer and includes two ring resonators. The ring resonator has two optical couplers, and first and second curved waveguides connecting the two optical couplers, each of the two optical couplers is configured to receive input of the light from the gain region through an input-output port, to couple light of a resonant peak to a bar port of the input-output port, and to couple light except light at a resonant peak wavelength to a cross port of the input-output port, and each of radiation waveguides connected to the cross ports of the input-output ports of the two optical couplers has a structure that radiates the light except the light at the resonant peak wavelength to a front surface or a back surface of a substrate.

An optical switch includes 2-input 2-output optical switches connected in a multistage, an optical gate provided at each of N-th optical output ports, a driving circuit for operating the 2-input 2-output optical switch, and a driving circuit for operating the optical gate. The driving circuits for operating the 2-input 2-output optical switches are integrated in the vicinity of a control electrode on a waveguide of the 2-input 2-output optical switch. The driving circuits for operating the optical gates are integrated in the vicinity of a control electrode on a waveguide of the optical gates. The waveguide of the 2-input 2-output optical switch and the waveguide of the optical gate each has a p layer, an i layer, and an n layer sequentially formed on a semi-insulating substrate. The optical switch has a trench reaching the semi-insulating substrate between the 2-input 2-output optical switch and the optical gate.

Optical switch

An image sensor of the present disclosure includes a two-dimensional pixel array in which a plurality of pixels including photoelectric conversion elements are arranged in the form of an array on a substrate, a transparent layer formed on the two-dimensional pixel array, and a two-dimensional spectroscopic element array in which a plurality of spectroscopic elements are arranged in the form of an array inside or on the transparent layer. Each spectroscopic element includes a plurality of microstructures made of a material having a higher refractive index than a refractive index of the transparent layer. The plurality of microstructures have a microstructure pattern. Each of the spectroscopic elements splits incident light into first to fourth deflected lights, which have different transmission directions, according to the wavelength region. A first to fourth pixels, which are adjacent to each other and are located directly below each of the spectroscopic elements, respectively detect the first to fourth deflected lights.

Spectral element array, image sensor and image apparatus

An optical beam combiner circuit includes a plurality of branch portions configured to divide optical beams output from a plurality of input waveguides, a combiner unit configured to combine optical beams, each of the optical beams being one of the divided optical beams obtained by one of the plurality of branch portions, an output waveguide configured to output an optical beam obtained by the combiner unit combining the optical beams, a plurality of monitoring waveguides configured to output optical beams, each of the optical beams being another of the divided optical beams obtained by one of the plurality of branch portions, and a plurality of light-blocking grooves provided on both sides with respect to each input waveguide, the plurality of light-blocking grooves being positioned to enable stray light not coupled to the plurality of input waveguides to be reflected toward an end surface different from an exit end surface of each monitoring waveguide and also different from an exit end surface of the output waveguide.

Optical multiplexing circuit

There has been a problem with nodes that are present on the periphery of a flat optical network in that an enormous number of receivers are needed, which have reached the limit of the capacity of the ASIC switch. An optical network of the present disclosure proposes introduction of a slight time-domain limit to data transmission from network nodes to the same destination node. The network operates in accordance with a time slot system for data transmission/reception. The ASIC switch has a switching capacity corresponding to an average volume of incoming traffic at a plurality of nodes, and is provided with a storage medium that stores therein and handle a volume of traffic exceeding this switching capacity. A decreased transmission bandwidth between nodes due to the time-domain limit can also be improved by using a plurality of time slots, and transmitting an optical signal according to optical circuit switching by using an unassigned time slot.

There is provided an optical signal processing device that generates a mask function in an optical domain to enable high-speed RC processing. For light emitted from a laser light source, an optical modulator modulates at a modulation period at least one of the intensity and phase values of the optical electric field. Thereby, the light emitted from the laser light source becomes an input signal. The input signal is entered into an optical FIR filter unit. For the input signal, the term corresponding to the mask function is multiplied at the optical FIR filter unit and weighted. Thereby, the input signal is converted into an input signal modulated. The modulated input signal enters via an optical coupler, an optical circulation circuit which is loaded with a variable attenuator and a nonlinear response element. The circulating optical signal is branched into two by an optical coupler. One branched light is converted into an intermediate signal at an optical receiver. The intermediate signal is computed by a formula at an electric signal processing circuit, and thereby, the operation as RC can be performed.
