A wearable airbag device for protecting the hip of a wearer includes an airbag that is formed of a sheet material having flexibility and is adapted to be put on a circumference of the pelvis of the wearer. The airbag is inflatable with an inflation gas. The airbag includes: a mounting portion that is adapted to be disposed at a region to be wrapped around the pelvis at airbag deployment; two protecting portions each of which is configured to extend downward from the mounting portion and cover an outer side of a targeted body part of the wearer at airbag deployment, the targeted body part being left and right trochanters of femurs; and a means for suppressing each of the protecting portions from expanding and floating away from the targeted body part at the lower end at deployment of the protecting portion.

Wearable airbag device

The airbag device includes an airbag and a gas generator. The gas generator includes a body containing inflation gas and sealed with an unsealable lid, and a discharge portion that includes a housing, an outlet that is formed in the housing and allows outflow of gas to the airbag when the body is unsealed, a piercing pin for unsealing the lid, a spring for moving the pin, a retaining member that retains the spring, and a sliding mechanism that shifts the retaining member to a release position. The sliding mechanism includes a drive source and a connecting member that shifts the retaining member to the release position by a driving force of the drive source. The piercing pin, spring, lid and a portion of the retaining member retaining the spring are housed in the housing. The drive source and connecting member are partitioned from a gas channel inside the housing.

Airbag device

A wearable airbag device for protecting the hip of a wearer includes an airbag adapted to be worn around the pelvis and inflatable with an inflation gas. The airbag includes: an inner wall configured to face the wearer at airbag deployment; an outer wall opposite the inner wall and having a circumferential edge jointed with that of the inner wall so that the airbag has a substantially board shape when inflated; a contact portion disposed in an upper reach of a stream of inflation gas and configured to be deployed at a side of the pelvis; a protecting portion configured to be deployed in such a manner as to extend downward from the contact portion for covering an outer side of the trochanter of femur at airbag deployment; and a float-preventing means for preventing the protecting portion from floating away from the body of the wearer at airbag deployment.

A wearable airbag device includes a wearable member and an airbag held by the wearable member and inflatable with an inflation gas fed from a gas generator. The airbag includes a bag body that forms an outer shell of the airbag which includes an inner wall adapted to face the wearer when worn and an outer wall opposite to the inner wall, the bag body including one or more protecting inflatable portions for covering and protecting one or more targeted body parts respectively, and an inner bag that is disposed inside the bag body and configured to be inflated with the inflation gas from the gas generator. The inner bag includes one or more supply ports for forwarding the inflation gas to the bag body. Each of the supply ports is configured to emit the inflation gas toward one of the protecting inflatable portions and toward the outer wall.

A wearable airbag device adapted to be worn by a wearer is disclosed, including a gas generator that is configured to be actuated at fall of the wearer, an airbag that includes a plurality of inflatable portions that are partitioned from one another, the plurality of inflatable portions each including an gas inlet port and being configured to be inflated with an inflation gas fed from the gas generator via the gas inlet port for protecting a targeted body part of the wearer, and a gas switching mechanism that is disposed in a pathway of the inflation gas from the gas generator toward the plurality of inflatable portions, the gas switching mechanism being configured to switch a destination of the inflation gas emitted from the gas generator over to only one inflatable portion disposed in a falling direction of the wearer out of the plurality of inflatable portions.

A wearable airbag device that is adapted to be worn by a wearer for protecting one or more targeted body parts of the wearer. The airbag device includes an airbag that includes one or more protecting inflatable portions each of which is configured to be inflated with an inflation gas and cover one of the one or more targeted body parts, and a means for preventing each of the protecting inflatable portions from being dislocated from the targeted body part at airbag deployment.

An airbag apparatus is configured to be used for a vehicle seat including an accommodation portion. The airbag apparatus includes an airbag. The airbag is configured such that a portion of the airbag ejected from the accommodation portion to the position beside the headrest is deployed and inflated in a position rearward of the seat back, and is inflated and deployed away from the accommodation portion in the width direction in a position rearward of the headrest, and that another portion of the airbag ejected from the accommodation portion to the position beside the headrest is deployed and inflated in a position forward of the seat back, and is deployed and inflated in a position forward of a head of an occupant seated in the vehicle seat and away from the accommodation portion in the width direction, so as to wrap around the head.

Airbag apparatus

A protector for protecting a targeted body part of the wearer is disclosed. The protector includes a mounting belt that is adapted to put on the body of the wearer, and at least one protective body that is adapted to cover the targeted body part when the protector is worn, the protective body extending from the mounting belt. The protective body includes a protective pad that substantially has a board shape, an airbag that is overlaid on an outer surface of the protective pad in a stacking manner and configured to be inflated with an inflation gas, and an outer cover that covers outer circumferences of the protective pad and the airbag as stacked one on another. At least a part of an outer circumferential edge of the airbag is joined to the protective pad so that the airbag will not float away from the protective pad when inflated.

Protector

An airbag apparatus includes two airbags. The airbags are respectively accommodated in side accommodation portions in a seat back. The airbags include two side inflation portions and two front inflation portions. Each airbag further includes a tether. Each airbag includes a non-inflation portion. Each tether includes a pass-through section at which the tether is passed through the non-inflation portion. A portion of each tether between the pass-through section and a distal end is arranged along a rear surface of the front inflation portion. A portion of each tether between the pass-through section and a basal end is arranged along an inner surface of the side inflation portion. The basal end of each tether is configured to be fixed to a rear end of the side inflation portion or the seat back. The distal end of each tether is fixed to a front end of the front inflation portion.

A completely folded body of an airbag, includes: an outer peripheral wall including a vehicle body side wall portion, and a receiving side wall portion. An outer peripheral edge side in a state where the receiving side wall portion is superimposed on the vehicle body side wall portion and is flatly deployed is subjected to radial folding and folded. An accommodation recess portion for accommodating an upper portion on a gas supply port side of an inflator is provided on a bottom surface. A radially-folded folded portion is disposed so as to surround a circumference of an intermediate portion from a base portion near the center of the ceiling surface of the accommodation recess portion in a linear supply path, for supplying the inflation gas from the inflator, to a tip portion disposed on an inner surface side near the center of the receiving side wall portion.

A steering wheel includes: a support member which is inserted into a bag holder of an airbag device; a slider which has a cylindrical shape and covers the support member so as to be slidable in a front-rear direction; a damper holder which has an annular shape and covers at least a part of a region around the slider; an elastic member which has an annular shape and is interposed between the slider and the damper holder, in which the airbag device functions as a damper mass of a dynamic damper and the elastic member functions as a spring of the dynamic damper; and a friction damping unit including: a part provided in a portion between the slider and the elastic member; and a part provided in a portion between the damper holder and the elastic member.

Steering wheel

An airbag device includes: an airbag which inflates from a state of a folded body by receiving an inflation gas; and a wrapping material wraps the folded body. The folded body has a three-dimensional shape including a bottom surface portion, a ceiling portion, and a side surface portion. The wrapping material includes: a cover member having flexibility and a sheet shape which includes a ceiling cover portion covering the ceiling portion of the folded body, a side surface cover portion covering the side surface portion, and a bottom surface cover portion which covers the bottom surface portion and has a locking hole to be locked to a fastener, and an elongation regulating member which is provided on at least a part of the cover member so as to suppress elongation of the cover member in opposition to an acting direction of the restoring force of the folded body.

A steering wheel includes a metal core earthed to a body of a vehicle, an airbag device, an insulator, and a connector. The airbag device includes a bag holder supported by the metal core, wherein the bag holder forms part of a positive electric path connected to a horn device, an airbag coupled to the bag holder by a fastener, and an inflator including a circumferential portion that forms a flange, wherein the flange of the inflator is coupled by the fastener to the bag holder. The insulator insulates the bag holder from at least the flange and the fastener among elements of the airbag device. The connector electrically connects at least the flange, among the flange and the fastener, to the metal core.

A support structure for an airbag apparatus includes an airbag apparatus having a bag holder, a pin, a pin holder, a damper holder, an elastic member, a motion transmitting portion, a motion receiving portion, and a noise suppressing portion. The pin includes a shaft portion passed through a mounting hole provided in the bag holder and a flange portion formed at the rear end of the shaft portion. The pin holder slidably covers the shaft portion. The damper holder is mounted to the airbag apparatus while covering the pin holder. The elastic member includes an elastic body portion. A gap is provided inside the motion transmitting portion. The noise suppressing portion is located between the gap and the pin holder, is made of a material softer than the pin holder, and has an inner diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the elastic body portion.

Support structure for airbag apparatus

A steering wheel includes: a support member inserted into a bag holder of an air bag device; a cylindrical slider; an annular damper holder configured to cover a part of the cylindrical slider; and an elastic member including an annular elastic main body interposed between the cylindrical slider and the annular damper holder, wherein: the air bag device configured to act as a damper mass of a dynamic damper; the annular elastic main body configured to act as a spring of the dynamic damper; an annular gap is formed with the elastic member at a portion shifted in the axial direction from the annular elastic main body; and the elastic member further includes elastic restriction portions configured to fill the annular gap to restrict the elastic deformation of the elastic member at the multiple portions of the annular gap spaced from each other in the peripheral direction.
