A medicine-holding body is disposed in a flow path of a nozzle portion of an adapter for blood dispensing. The medicine-holding body is formed of a plurality of fibers which is made of polyester and is bundled by aligning a longitudinal direction thereof in a flowing direction which is a direction in which blood flows. The medicine-holding body holds an anticoagulant for suppressing coagulation of blood, as a medicine to be mixed into blood. The surface area of the medicine-holding body is greater than or equal to 10 mmand less than 600 mm. In a case where the surface area of the medicine-holding body is greater than or equal to 10 mm, the concentration of the anticoagulant becomes greater than or equal to a lower limit value of 10 U/mL even under most severe conditions such as a dispensing speed of 500 &#x3bc;L/second. In a case where the surface area of the medicine-holding body is less than 600 mm, it is possible to maintain the occurrence rate of hemolysis to be less than or equal to 10%.

Adapter for blood dispensing

A pipette tip includes a body and projections. In the body, a flow passage in which liquid from the syringe flows and an ejection opening that ejects the liquid, which has flowed through the flow passage, to the outside are formed. The ejection opening is formed in a distal end portion. The projections are provided on the distal end portion and protrude from a region around the ejection opening in the ejection direction of liquid. The projections are partially disposed around the central axis of the body. Even in a case where a residual droplet adheres to the ejection opening, the residual droplet does not adhere to an injection opening of a sample container, because the projections guard a region around the residual droplet.

Pipette tip and liquid injection method

To provide a test substance measurement method and a test substance measurement kit adapted to improve the accuracy of the measurement of a test substance. A test substance measurement kit includes: fluorescent particles which are modified with a first binding substance having specific bindability to a test substance; non-fluorescent particles which are modified with a second binding substance having no specific bindability to the test substance; and a substrate on which a first metal film to which a third binding substance having specific bindability to the test substance is fixed, and a second metal film to which a fourth binding substance having no bindability to the test substance, but having bindability to the first binding substance is fixed, and which has a smaller thickness than the first metal film are formed.

Test substance measurement kit and test substance measurement method

A centrifugal separation unit that performs centrifugal separation on a sample that has been injected into a container by rotating the container about a center axis of the container, as a rotation axis, a measurement unit that measures a sample component in the container that has been centrifugally separated by the centrifugal separation unit, and a correction unit that performs, on a result of the measurement, correction operation processing based on a change in concentration caused by evaporation of the sample during the centrifugal separation are provided.

An assay chip includes fluidic-channel member composed of a light-transmissive lower member and an upper member, forming a fluidic-channel therebetween, and a cover member fitted with the fluidic-channel member from the upper-member-side thereof. An inlet for injecting a sample solution into the fluidic-channel and a suction opening for sucking, from the downstream side, the injected sample solution, both communicating with the fluidic-channel, are formed on the upper surface of the upper member. A pot for carrying out predetermined pre-processing on the sample solution, a pot for first-reaction processing to bind a photoresponsive labeling substance to an analyte in the sample solution, an inlet insertion-hole for inserting the inlet, and a suction-opening insertion-hole for inserting the suction opening are linearly arranged on the upper surface of the cover member.

Assay chip

A biological molecule detecting apparatus capable of highly sensitive measurements is provided. The emission direction of an orientation controlling light beam was periodically switched, to periodically switch the orientation direction of binding moleculeswithin a solution. Components, which are synchronized with the orientation periods of the binding molecules are extracted from fluorescence emitted by fluorescent molecules within the solution, are extracted and detected. Thereby, the concentration of a detection target substance can be accurately measured with a simple configuration.

Biological molecule detecting apparatus and biological molecule detecting method

A configuration was adopted, in which the orientations of free molecules and binding molecules within a solution are switched by switching the vibration direction of orientation controlling light, thereby switching the amount of light emitted by each free molecule and each binding molecule. There is a difference in the amounts of time required for the orientations of the free molecules and the binding molecules to switch accompanying the switch in the emission direction of the orientation controlling light. Therefore, the timings at which the amounts of light emitted by each type of molecule increase differ. Accordingly, the fluorescence contributed by fluorescent molecules associated with free molecules and the fluorescent molecules associated with binding molecules can be respectively calculated, even if all of the fluorescent molecules within the solution emit fluorescence. Thereby, the concentration of a detection target substance can be accurately measured with a simple structure.

A total reflection illuminated sensor chip is employed in a detecting method for detecting a detection target substance including the steps of: supplying a sample that includes the detection target substance onto a metal film formed on a surface of a dielectric prism, irradiating a measuring light beam onto the interface between the dielectric prism and the metal film such that conditions for total reflection are satisfied at the interface, and utilizing evanescent waves which are generated due to the irradiation of the measuring light beam to detect the detection target substance. Polishing streaks in the region of a metal film formation surface of the dielectric film, on which the metal film is formed, have directional properties with respect to a single direction.

Total reflection illuminated sensor chip, method for producing the total reflection illuminated sensor chip, and sensing method using the total reflection illuminated sensor chip

A sensor chip includes a dielectric plate and a sensor portion having a metal layer deposited on a predetermined area on the dielectric plate. A photo-reactable labeling-substance of an amount corresponding to the amount of a substance to be detected in a sample binds to the sensor portion by contacting the sample with the sensor portion. The amount of the substance to be detected is obtained by irradiating the predetermined area with excitation light and by detecting light output from the photo-reactable labeling-substance in an enhanced electric field that has been generated on the metal layer by irradiation with the excitation light. The photo-reactable labeling-substance includes a photo-reactable substance enclosed by a light transmissive material that transmits light output from the photo-reactable substance to prevent metal quenching that occurs when the photo-reactable substance is located close to the metal layer.

Optical signal detection method, apparatus, sample cell and kit

A sensing apparatus includes a prism, a metal film provided on a surface of the prism, a substrate that is provided on a surface of the prism and which has formed therein a channel for supplying a sample to the metal film, a light source for issuing light, an optical unit for incident light by which the light being issued from the light source is launched into the prism at such an angle that the light is totally reflected on a boundary surface between the prism and the metal film, the optical unit for incident light including a light intensity distribution adjusting section that reduces difference between the maximum and the minimum values in the intensity distribution of the light that is launched into the prism, and a light detecting unit for detecting the light that is generated in neighborhood of the metal film.

Sensing apparatus

A molecular analysis light detection apparatus is formed by: a sample plate provided with an enhancing member which is disposed at a small predetermined area of a sample contact surface contacting with a sample containing a substance to be analyzed and which generates an enhancing field for enhancing light generated from the substance to be analyzed at the predetermined area relative to the light at other areas of the sample contact surface when predetermined excitation light is applied; an excitation-light applying optical system for applying the excitation light to an illumination area which contains the predetermined area of the sample contact surface provided with the enhancing member and which is larger than the predetermined area; and a signal detector unit for detecting fluctuation of the light, which is enhanced by the enhancing field, generated from the substance to be analyzed.

Method for detecting molecular analysis light, and apparatus and sample plate for use with the same

A total reflection illuminated sensor chip is employed to detect a target substance, by: supplying a sample containing the target substance onto a detecting portion formed on a surface of a dielectric prism, irradiating a measuring light beam onto the interface between the prism and the detecting portion through a transmitting surface of the prism such that conditions for total reflection are satisfied, and utilizing evanescent waves generated at the detecting portion. The sensor chip includes a protective member for protecting the transmitting surface. The protective member is provided a predetermined distance away from the transmitting surface to form a transmitting space, which is open at least toward the downward direction. The sensor chip is configured such that the interface can be irradiated by the measuring light beam that enters the transmitting space from below the transmitting space and passes through the transmitting surface.

Total reflection illuminated sensor chip

Fluorescence detection utilizes surface plasmon. The intensity of scattered light, which is substantially proportionate to the intensity of an electric field enhancing field generated on a metal film, is employed, to normalize and correct the intensity of fluorescence emitted by fluorescent labels with respect to the intensity of the electric field enhancing field.

Fluorescence detecting method and fluorescence detecting apparatus

An excitation light beam of a wavelength that excites fluorescent labels and a reference light beam having a wavelength longer than the excitation light beam are irradiated through a dielectric block toward an interface between the dielectric block and a metal film, to cause a first electric field enhancing field and a second electric field enhancing field on the upper surface of the metal film, in fluorescence detection that utilizes surface plasmon. The intensity of scattered light of the second electric field enhancing field, which is substantially proportionate to the intensity of the second electric field enhancing field, is employed to normalize and correct the intensity of fluorescence emitted by fluorescent labels with respect to the intensity of the first electric field enhancing field, based on the relationship between the intensities of the first and second electric field enhancing fields.
