An angular position detecting apparatus using a magnetic detecting element, which can voluntary widely set an output change characteristic of the magnetic detecting element with respect to angular positions. An angular position detecting apparatus includes a cylindrical yoke, and a magnet fixed to a predetermined position in the cylindrical yoke. A magnetic detecting element, which is fixed to a rotor, is provided in a magnetic field generated between the magnet and the cylindrical yoke, so that a position of the magnetic detecting element is shifted from a rotation axis P of the rotor by a predetermined distance r. A ferromagnetic thin film magnetic resistance element applies a magnetic field which has intensity so that outputs from the elements are saturated. As a result, the magnetic detecting element generates outputs depending only on a magnetic flux detection angle &thgr;s independent of an influence of changes of magnetic field intensity due to temperature changes. In this case, when at least one of a rotation radius r of the magnetic detecting element and a radius R of the cylindrical yoke is voluntary determined, an output change characteristic of the magnetic detecting element can be voluntary set.

Angular position detecting apparatus for linearly detecting angular position in a wider range

An engine start-stop control system for an automotive vehicle includes a first step for supplying current to a solenoid of a magnet switch of a starter at 100% duty ratio until a first predetermined time passes, a second step for supplying current to the solenoid at a duty ratio that is less than 100% after the first predetermined period passes until a second predetermined period passes, and a third step for supplying current to the solenoid at 100% duty ratio after the second predetermined period passes until a third predetermined period passes. Therefore, a pinion of the starter reaches a ring gear of the engine in a short time and engages the ring gear with a moderate impacting shock, thereby preventing the pinion and the ring gear from being damaged.

Engine start-stop control system

An angular position detection device has a rotor that comprises two magnets and a primary yoke, and a stator that comprises a pair of auxiliary yokes and a magnetism detection element. The rotor is fixed to a rotary shaft of an object to be detected. The primary yoke forms a magnetic circuit in a ring, and the magnets are configured so that the intensity distribution of the magnetic field is asymmetric with respect to the center of rotation of the rotor. The magnetism detection element is placed in a gap between the auxiliary yokes. This stator is disposed in the inside of the rotor so that an air gap between the rotor and the stator varies gradually in the circumferential direction. Thus, the magnetism detection element is enabled to produce a linear output over a range wider than 180&deg;.

Markers each comprising an electromagnetic coil are installed on the surface of a road at a lateral center line of a running lane of the road at predetermined intervals. Provided for each of the markers, a driving signal generating circuit drives the associated marker so that the marker transmits an alternating current magnetic field. Alternating current magnetic field receiving devices each comprising an electromagnetic coil are installed on the front bumper of a vehicle at positions symmetrical with respect to the lateral center line of the vehicle. While the vehicle is running, the alternating current magnetic field receiving devices sequentially receive the alternating current magnetic fields generated by the markers one field after another. A microcomputer receives detection voltages generated by the alternating current magnetic field receiving devices through detection circuits and determines the lateral position of the vehicle from the detection voltages.

An improved control system for antilock brake control for an automotive vehicle which includes an excessive brake pedal-depressed force alarm unit. The control system determines a slip ratio and a slip ratio variation of a wheel to derive slippage conditions of the wheel, and provides an alarm to a driver when a brake pedal-depressed force exerted on a brake pedal is too great, causing wheel slippage to occur, especially during traveling on a slippery road surface such as a snowy road.

An angular velocity sensor having a casing in which a disk shaped permanent magnet member is arranged so that it floats on a magnetic fluid filled in the casing. A Hall motor is provided for rotating the permanent magnet about its axis in the casing, and a detection unit is provided detecting an inclination of the magnet member about an axis which is transverse to the axis about which the magnet member rotates, which inclination is generated when the sensor is subjected to an angular movement. An angular velocity of such an angular movement is calculated from the detected degree of inclination of the magnet member.

Device for detecting angular velocity

An acceleration sensor for detecting an acceleration in a plane, and having a housing, and a disk magnet arranged in a magnetic fludi stored in the housing. The movement of disk magnet is limited, i.e., a translational movement or rotational movement thereof can occur only in the plane, by projections formed in the housing, between which projections portions of the magnetic fluid having an increased density are formed adjacent to the poles of the disk magnet so that only a translational movement is allowed, or by small circumferential walls between the housing and the disk magnet and radial projections formed between end walls of the housing and disk magnet so that only a rotational movement is allowed. A Hall element issues a signal corresponding to a position of the disk magnet, to thereby determine the acceleration rate.

An acceleration sensor including a magnetic fluid, a permanent magnet emplaced movably in the magnetic fluid, a nonmagnetic case, in which case the magnetic fluid and the permanent magnet are sealed and from which case air is substantially excluded, the shape of internal receptacle of the case dominating the shape of the magnetic fluid, whereby the path of the magnetic flux generated by the permanent magnet is restricted and the permanent magnet in the magnetic fluid is given an automatic positioning function, a unit for detecting the position of the permanent magnet, and a processing circuit for processing signals from the detection unit.
