A supercharger includes a rotary shaft having a turbine wheel and a compressor impeller, a main bearing in contact with an oil area of the rotary shaft where lubricating oil is retained and configured to rotatably support the rotary shaft, and an auxiliary bearing in contact with the oil area and configured to rotatably support the rotary shaft when the main bearing is unable to support the rotary shaft.

Supercharger

Electric supercharger and supercharging system

An electric supercharger includes an electric motor, a compressor wheel rotated by the electric motor, and a compressor housing. The compressor housing includes a first passage through which air is introduced, an introducing port connecting to an EGR device, a second passage through which at least one of air and EGR gas is flowed, a bypass passage through which at least one of air and EGR gas is flowed, and a bypass valve to open and close the bypass passage. When the bypass valve is opened, air introduced from the first passage and EGR gas introduced from the introducing port are flowed through the bypass passage to the internal combustion engine. When the bypass valve is closed, air introduced from the first passage and EGR gas introduced from the introducing port are compressed in the compressor wheel and flowed through the second passage to the internal combustion engine.

Electric supercharger

A control system for an internal combustion engine includes an electric supercharger that includes a compressor wheel that is configured to be rotated by an electric motor. The control system includes a bypass passage, a bypass valve, and an exhaust gas recirculation passage. The control device is configured to control the electric supercharger and the bypass valve based on an operation condition of the internal combustion engine. The control device is configured to cause a stepping operation of the electric supercharger in which acceleration and stopping of the compressor wheel are repeated within a predetermined cleaning time after operation of the internal combustion engine is stopped.

Control system for internal combustion engine

There is provided an electric supercharger having a compressor including a compressor impeller, a motor housing, an electric motor rotationally driving the compressor, and a first bearing and a second bearing provided to support a shaft and a rotor in the motor housing. The first bearing is located on the compressor side of the rotor and the second bearing is located on the other side of the rotor. The motor housing includes a thermal conductive passage through which heat generated by a coil wound around a stator is transmitted to the first and second bearings. The thermal conductive passage between the coil and the first bearing is formed with a reduced thickness portion in such a way that thickness of the thermal conductive passage is reduced in a direction that is perpendicular to a direction in which the heat is transmitted through the thermal conductive passage.

A sensorless electric motor control device is provided that completes a phase detection of a rotor before an activation signal is received, so as to shorten a time period from when the activation signal is received to when the rotor reaches a target number of rotations. The control device for a sensorless electric motorincludes an inverterthat drives the electric motorand a first processorthat serves as a phase detection unit that causes the inverterto perform a phase detection before the inverterreceives an activation signal that activates the electric motor, wherein the phase detection aligns a magnetic pole of a rotor of the electric motorwith a predetermined position with respect to a stator.
