A fuel supply device supplies fuel from a fuel tank to an injector by driving a diaphragm pump by use of pressure variation within a crankcase. The diaphragm pump includes: a pump casing; a diaphragm partitioning the interior of the pump casing into a negative pressure chamber and a pump chamber; and a plunger connected to the diaphragm and reciprocatively movable to and from the pump chamber. A pressure receiving area over which the plunger receives, at its end surface in a plunger advancing/retracting direction, pressure from the pump chamber is set smaller than a pressure receiving area over which the diaphragm receives pressure from the negative pressure chamber in the advancing/retracting direction.

Fuel supply device for internal combustion engine

When a flow of a working medium stagnates in an expander or evaporator of a Rankine cycle apparatus including a closed working medium circulation circuit, a high pressure exceeding an allowable maximum pressure level of the expander or evaporator is produced within the closed working medium circulation circuit. In such a case, the water-phase working medium is first discharged via relief valves out of the circulation circuit, so that the pressure within the circulation circuit can be lowered. Then, once vapor within the evaporator, having been lowered in temperature and pressure, flows backward within the closed working medium circulation circuit, the vapor is also discharged via the relief valves out of the circulation circuit. In this way, the pressure within the expander or evaporator can be reliably prevented from exceeding the allowable maximum pressure level.

Rankine cycle apparatus

Rankine cycle apparatus, having closed working medium circulation circuitry, includes a collection mechanism for collecting a working medium leaked or discharged out of the circulation circuitry. The working medium collected via the collection mechanism is stored in an open tank, and the thus-stored liquid-phase working medium is returned to a condenser by means of a return pump.

A vane type fluid machine includes: a casing; a rotor rotating in the casing; and a plurality of vanes supported by the rotor to slide on an inner surface of the casing. A seal portion of each vane is formed to be elastically deformable so as to slide on the inner surface of the casing while bending backward of a rotational direction of the rotor. Therefore, an improved structure of the seal portion of each vane secures good sealing performance even if machining accuracy of the inner surface of the casing is alleviated.

In a fluid conveying apparatus in which there is provided, in a flow passage of a fluid, a platelike oscillator which is vibrated with an upstream end thereof, as seen in a flow direction of the fluid, as a fixed end and a downstream end thereof as a free end, the oscillator is divided into minute oscillators of smaller length. The minute oscillators are disposed in longitudinally (back and forth) multiple stages inside the flow passage. A sufficient conveying capacity can thus be obtained even if the flow passage is small in width.

Fluid conveying apparatus having multiple piezoelectric driven blades

A piezoelectric fan comprises at least one piezoelectric element having a rectangular piezoelectric plate of large aspect ratio, made from a piezoelectric material, and conductive metal layers provided on both surfaces of the piezoelectric plate. At least one of the conductive metal layers has a plurality of reinforcing ribs extending parallel to the long side of the piezoelectric element and formed integrally with the conductive metal layers or as a separate member collectively. The reinforcing ribs increase the long side direction rigidity of the piezoelectric element. As a result, the long side direction or lateral mode resonance of the piezoelectric element can be suppressed, thus increasing the blow efficiency of the piezoelectric fan.

Piezoelectric fan

A heat exchanger has heat exchange members for performing heat exchanging with a fluid to flow along surfaces thereof. Fins are fixed, at only one end thereof in the direction of flow of the fluid, to the respective heat exchange members in a cantilevered manner. Each of the fins has a piezoelectric material layer laminated on at least one of the surfaces of each fin. Vibrations are given to the fins, with the fixed end thereof operating as a fulcrum, by applying an alternating voltage to the piezoelectric material layer such that the fins are extended and contracted in the direction of the flow of the fluid. As a modified example, each fin may be provided at its rear end with a weight. Piezoelectric actuators are disposed inside a frame in which the heat exchanger is contained, in a manner to pinch the heat exchanger in a vertical direction. By causing the actuators to vibrate, the fins are also vibrated.
