A video output apparatus includes an operation device that outputs an operation signal according to an operation, an operation signal processor that receives the operation signal and executes a process, and a storage that stores a plurality of programs and an association between the operation signal and any of the plurality of programs. The operation device includes a definition operation part to which a function achieved by any of the plurality of programs can be allocated, and the plurality of programs includes a function allocation setting program for outputting an operation image for allocating the function to the definition operation part. The storage stores, as an initial association, an association between an operation signal due to an operation on the definition operation part and the function allocation setting program. Upon receipt of the operation signal output from the operation device due to the operation on the definition operation part, the operation signal processor executes the function allocation setting program based on the initial association and outputs the operation image.

Video output apparatus and video output method

When a mark key of a remote control is pressed by a user during fast-forward reproduction of video images and audio sounds, a system control unit searches a position of a video image which is presumed as a scene change closest to and on rewind side from the position of the video image reproduced at the time the mark key is pressed. This search is performed, based on rate of change in amount of data (bit rate) of the compressed video data used per unit time to generate the video signals by a video and audio signal processing unit. The system control unit then sets, as a mark position, the position of the video image presumed as the scene change.

Video reproducing apparatus

A television receiver including: a reception control unit which judges whether reception of the cable television broadcast signal has succeeded, by setting the channel data composed of the combination of the frequency table stored in the first storage unit and the modulation method stored in the second storage unit, the modulation method corresponding to the tuned channel. A television receiver having: an external input terminal to receive a non-RF signal from a first external device, the non-RF signal being a video and/or audio signal which is not modulated into a radio frequency signal; an RF input terminal to receive an RF signal from a second external device, the RF signal being generated by modulating a video and/or audio signal, and an external-input switching unit to perform switching selection to the non-RF signal received through the external input terminal, wherein the external-input switching unit is capable of tuning in a frequency of RF signal transferred through the RF input terminal to perform switching selection to a receiving channel when the detecting unit detects that an RF signal has been transferred through the RF input terminal.

Receiving apparatus and television receiver

A television receiver is connected to a multi-directional antenna, and stores, in a memory, a receiving direction table containing: channel numbers; best receiving directions of the multi-directional antenna for receiving the respective channels; and register channel information indicating whether the channels are registered as selectable or non-selectable. The receiving direction table is used for selecting each channel. Based on the operation of a user interface by a user (S), the register channel information of the receiving direction table can be changed (S, S), so that the user can optionally set selectable channels. Thus, the user can preliminarily delete channels in bad receiving conditions from candidates of selectable channels.

Television broadcast receiver

A television device includes a reception device, a first decision unit, and a second decision unit. The reception device receives, from a broadcast signal of a system set, a channel which is tuned. The second decision unit, when it has been decided by the first decision unit that this channel for which tuning has been received is not registered in the channel map of the set broadcast signal, decides whether or not this channel is registered in the channel map of the broadcast signal of some other system. And, when it has been decided by the second decision unit that this channel for which tuning has been received is registered in the channel map of the broadcast signal of some other system, the reception device receives the channel for which tuning has been received from the broadcast signal of some other system.

Disclosed is a personal configuration information sharing system comprising a plurality of pieces of electric equipment connected with one another through a network, the plurality of pieces of electric equipment sharing personal configuration information with each other, wherein a setting time of set contents in a first personal configuration information of a first electronic equipment received by a first personal configuration information reception unit is compared with a setting time of set contents in a second personal configuration information of a second electronic equipment extracted by an extraction unit, and the first personal configuration information and the second personal configuration information are merged to update the second personal configuration information to the set contents which are set later.

Personal configuration information sharing system

A television receiver is connected to a multi-directional antenna, and stores, in a memory, a receiving direction table containing: channel numbers; best receiving directions of the multi-directional antenna for receiving the respective channels; and register channel information indicating whether the channels are registered as selectable or non-selectable. The receiving direction table is used for selecting each channel. Based on the operation of a user interface by a user (S), the register channel information of the receiving direction table can be changed (S, S), so that the user can optionally set selectable channels. Best receiving directions of channels registered in the receiving direction table as non-selectable are deleted from the receiving direction table (S), so that the amount of information stored in the memory can be reduced, thereby saving capacity of the memory.

When, for any channel registered in a channel table, a detecting means detects that no program is being broadcast, a registered channel changing means changes the channel registered in the channel table to a channel for which the detecting means has detected that a program is being broadcast.

Receiving apparatus

Broadcasting receiving apparatus and broadcasting receiving method

When, for any channel registered in a channel table, a detecting means detects that no program is being broadcast, a broadcast suspension setting means turns on a flag associated with that channel that indicates broadcast suspension. Also, a tuning reception prohibiting means prohibits a tuning receiving means from receiving tuning of a channel whose associated flag that indicates broadcast suspension is turned on.

A TV receiver preliminarily measures and stores, in a memory, data of best receiving directions, each giving maximum signal intensity, of a multi-directional antenna for receivable channels. When the antenna rotationally shifts physically for some reason, one channel is selected and subjected to measurements by an omni-directional scanning again to determine a new best receiving direction. A receiving direction number difference between the stored best receiving direction and the new best receiving direction of the same channel is determined. Using the receiving direction number difference for the one channel, all data stored in the memory are renewed at one time, the data being the best receiving direction numbers and the signal intensities therefor for all the channels. The antenna direction can be quickly adjusted to the rotational shift by new measurements for one channel, without requiring time to make unnecessary measurements for all channels, achieving a best receiving condition steadily.

Digital television broadcast signal receiver

A digital broadcasting receiver includes an operating section configured to select a channel, and a video/audio data obtaining section configured to obtain video/audio data on a selected channel from television broadcasting signals. The digital broadcasting receiver also includes a channel table and a designated channel table. The digital broadcasting receiver further includes a channel selecting section configured such that when the channel is selected by the operating section, the channel selecting section determines whether or not the selected channel has been replaced with an alternative channel by a broadcasting station by reference to the two tables. If it is determined that the selected channel has been replaced with the alternative channel, the channel selecting section instructs the video/audio data obtaining section to select the alternative channel instead of the selected channel.
