Polyethylene naphthalate fiber

An aromatic polyamide filament includes extremely fine inorganic material having a high refractive index of 2.0 or more and an extremely fine average particle size of 0.3 .mu.m or less and dispersed, in an amount of 0.1 to 5% based on the total weight of the filament, in at least a surface portion of an aromatic polyamide filament matrix; has an individual filament thickness of 0.5 to 50 deniers, a tensile strength of 18 g/d or more, an ultimate elongation of 3.5% or more and an initial modulus of 450 g/d; and exhibits an enhanced weathering resistance derived from the high ultraviolet ray-reflecting, shielding and absorbing properties of the extremely fine inorganic particles dispersed in the filament matrix.

Aromatic polyamide filament having an enhanced weathering resistance

An easily producible electroconductive conjugate fiber having an excellent electroconductivity and a high whiteness includes at least one non-electroconductive filamentary segment (A) formed from a fiber-forming polymeric material and at least one electroconductive filamentary segment (B) incorporated with the segments (A) so as to form, for example, a core-in-sheath type or bimetal type conjugate fiber, and including a thermoplastic polymeric matrix (a) and a plurality of electroconductive multilayered particles (b) dispersed in the matrix (a), having an average size of 0.1 to 2.0 .mu.m and each having (i) a core particle of a metal component, (ii) an undercoat layer formed from tin oxides on the core particle and (iii) an uppercoat layer formed from a mixture of indium oxides with tin oxides on the undercoat layer (ii), and optionally surface-treated with a silane compound, for example, vinyl tri-C.sub.1-5 alkoxysilane, or divinyl di-C.sub.1-5 alkoxysilane.

An aromatic o-hydroxyamide compound of the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein the formula: ##STR2## is a divalent aromatic group the formula: ##STR3## R.sup.1 =H, halogen, C.sub.1-10 alkyl group, or C.sub.1 -alkoxyl group, Ar.sub.1, Ar.sub.2, Ar.sub.3 =a divalent aromatic groups, X, Y=O or S, and n=0 or 1, has an excellent ultraviolet ray-absorption and heat-resistance and is useful for enhancing an ultraviolet ray-resistance of polymeric materials, for example, wholly aromatic polyamide fibers.

A light-resistant wholly aromatic polyamide resin composition comprises a light-resisting agent blended to a wholly aromatic polyamide resin and comprising at least one naphthalene ring structure-containing compound of the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein Ar.sub.1, Ar.sub.2, Ar.sub.3 =a divalent organic group, X=an amide bond group (--CONH), Y=an amide bond group or an imide bond group ##STR2## A and B=a monovalent organic group when Y=an amide bond group, or =a divalent organic group when Y=an imide bond group, n=1 to 10, and at least one of Ar.sub.1, Ar.sub.2, Ar.sub.3, A and B has a naphthalene ring structure.

Wholly aromatic polyamide resin composition having enhanced light

A wholly aromatic polyamide capable of being dissolved in organic solvents to form an isotropic dope solution and having an excellent chemical resistance, heat resistance, processability and mechanical strength and a high modulus, comprises recurring aromatic dicarbonyl units of the formulae: ##STR1## and recurring aromatic diamine units of the formulae: ##STR2## wherein R and R' are a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxyl radical, n is 1 to 3, and p and q are 1 to 4.

Wholly aromatic polyamide

A wholly aromatic copolymer and a shaped article thereof having an excellent mechanical property, high resistances to heat and chemicals, and a satisfactory processability, is composed of (1) an aromatic dicarbonyl moiety consisting of recurring dicarbonyl units (A) and (B): ##STR1## and (2) an aromatic diamine moiety consisting of recurring diamine units (C) and (D): ##STR2## and the recurring dicarbonyl units (B) being in an amount of 0.01 molar % or more but less than 20 molar % based on the total molar amount of the dicarbonyl moiety (1), and the recurring diamine units (D) being in an amount of 60 molar % or less but more than 20 molar % based on the total molar amount of the diamine moiety (2).

Fiber of wholly aromatic copolyamide from 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic

A wholly aromatic polyamide copolymer having excellent heat, flame and chemical resistances, solubility in organic solvents and shaping property and useful for shaped article having a high mechanical strength and modulus of elasticity, comprising the repeating units of the formulae: ##STR1## and at least one member selected from ##STR2## wherein X=a halogen atom, n, or m=1 to 4 and n+m=1 to 8.

Wholly aromatic polyamide copolymer

A packaging polyester material comprising a polyethylene terephthalate component and a component of polyethylene isophthalate copolymerized with 5 to 60 mole % of an aliphatic hydroxycarboxylic acid having up to 8 carbon atoms. This packaging material is excellent in the resistance to the permeation of gases.

New curable monomeric aromatic imidodicarboxylic acid diallyl esters, such as 4-allyloxycarbonyl-N-(allyloxycarbonylmethyl)phthalimide, 1,2-ethylene bis(4-allyloxycarbonylphthalimide), or N,N'-bis(allyloxycarbonylmethyl) pyromellitimide. When heated in the presence of a free radical initiator, these monomers give cured polymers having very superior mechanical strength, thermal stability, chemical resistance and electrical properties. If this polymerization is stopped before the reaction mixture is gelled, prepolymers can be obtained. The cured polymers are especially useful as electronics materials and engineering plastics.

Aromatic imidodicarboxylic acid diallyl esters, prepolymers thereof,

New curable monomeric aromatic imidodicarboxylic acid diallyl esters, such as 4-allyloxycarbonyl-N-(allyloxycarbonyl-methyl)phthalimide, 1,2-ethylene bis (4-allyloxycarbonylphthalimide), or N,N'-allyloxycarbonylmethyl) pyromellitimide. When heated in the presence of a free radical initiator, these monomers give cured polymers having very superior mechanical strength, thermal stability, chemical resistance and electrical properties.
