An optical fiber cutting device is proposed which can perform cutting of optical fibers on the principle of stress rupture stably under predetermined conditions, and which eliminates damage to the blade or the cut end face due to failure or excessive movement. When a wire of an optical fiber stopped by a ferrule-holding portion is gripped by a chuck of a fiber-holding portion and a lever is pulled in this state, tension corresponding to the amount of relative movement of the lever is applied to the optical fiber. Further, this relative movement is converted to the motion of a cutting blade table by a motion-converting mechanism to control the position of a blade. While no tension is applied to the optical fiber, the fiber-holding portion moves following the movement of the lever.

Optical fiber cutting device

An optical connector for a two-core optical fiber cord is constructed by coupling a housing main body portion for holding ferrule portions fitted to top end portions of paired optical fiber cores with a cord receiving portion for holding an end portion of a covering member . The cord receiving portion includes paired cord receiving split members A, B, and core-guiding-path forming concave portions A, B for guiding paired optical fiber cores to the outside are formed in the cord receiving split members A, B. Optical connector

An optical fiber cutter for cutting an optical fiber wire according to the principle of the stress-rupture includes a tension applying mechanism and a movable blade. The tension applying mechanism applies tension to the optical fiber wire in an axial direction thereof. The movable blade is contactable with the optical fiber wire in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction so as to impart an initial crack to the optical fiber wire to which the tension is applied. The movable blade contacts the optical fiber wire in only one direction, which is perpendicular to the axial direction.

Optical fiber cutter using the principle of stress rupture

A fiber fixing device for a linear lightguide comprises a tubular chuck and an elastic tubular body. The chuck includes a hollow part along its axis for receiving an optical fiber, a grasp part for grasping the received optical fiber, and a coupling part supporting the grasp part. The elastic tubular body is elastically expanded outwardly in the radial direction and in this state is fitted onto the grasp part of the chuck. Thus, the elastic tubular body exerts an elastic restoring force to radially inwardly press the grasp part which thereby grasps the optical fiber.
