An auto document feeder includes a lead path, a first reverse path, a second reverse path, and a both surfaces eject path. The lead path guides a document from a left side to a right side of a read position. The first and second reverse paths are connected to the lead path, and reverse the document to guide the document from the right side to the left side of the read position. A both surfaces eject path is connected to the first and second reverse paths and guides the document whose image information of a second surface has been read to eject further to the right side than the read position. A shared curve path shared by the lead path and the both surfaces eject path includes a portion between the read position and a portion in which a lead curve path protrudes the most.

Auto document feeder and a document reader with the auto document feeder

An auto document feeder includes a lead path, a first reverse path, a second reverse path, and a both surfaces eject path. The lead path guides a document from a left side to a right side of a read position. The first reverse path and the second reverse path are connected to the lead path, and reverse the document to guide the document from the right side to the left side of the read position. A both surfaces eject path is connected to the first reverse path and the second reverse path and guides the document whose image information of a second surface has been read so as to eject further to the right side than the read position. Further, the lead path includes a lead curve path which protrudes to the left side and is arranged more to the left side than the read position. A shared curve path shared by the lead path and the both surfaces eject path includes a portion between the read position and a portion in which the lead curve path protrudes the most.

In a paper transportation device, a separation pressure adjusting screw is provided in a transportation device main body under a separating pad holder. One end of a coil spring makes contact with the separation pressure adjusting screw, and another end of the coil spring makes contact with a position located away from a separating pad in the separating pad holder. A screw adjusting hole is provided on the separating pad holder for adjusting a screwed-in amount of the separation pressure adjusting screw from above.

A paper feeder includes a sheet supply unit that feeds sheets placed on a sheet placing part, a separating roller the separates the sheets fed by the sheet supply unit one sheet at a time and supplies each sheet to a sheet transportation path, a transportation roller that transports the sheets provided downstream of the separating roller and a link mechanism connected to the transportation roller via a transmitting unit. When the transportation roller rotates in a sheet transporting direction, the link mechanism swings so that a shutter opens the sheet transportation path and maintains an opened state. When the transportation roller rotates in a direction opposite to the sheet transporting direction, the link mechanism swings so that the shutter closes the sheet transportation path.

An image forming apparatus includes a scanning unit that scans a document, a recording unit including a transfer unit that forms an image on a recording sheet, and a fuser unit that affixes a toner image on the recording sheet transferred by the transfer unit. A sheet discharging unit discharges the recording sheet and a recording sheet discharging tray stacks recording sheets discharged from the sheet discharging unit in a space formed above the scanning unit. The sheet discharging unit includes a guide member curving the recording sheet in a convex shape in a width direction.
