Self-service commodity sales data processing device and method thereof

A merchandise registration device includes a lamp, a reading device reading a symbol on an item and providing identification information for the item, a weight sensor in a table on which a scanned item can be placed, and a processor. The processor performing a registration operation including acquiring identification information for the item and comparing an expected weight of the item to a measured weight from the weight sensor. The processor controlling the lamp to indicate progress states in the registration operation and whether the reading device is ready for reading a symbol for a next item in a sales transaction.

Merchandise registration device and method

A self-service point-of-sale (POS) terminal for a customer to register a commodity to be purchased in a store, includes an input device, a reading device configured to read a symbol on a commodity, a network interface configured to receive, from an external device operated by a store clerk or the like, instruction information that instructs output of caution information, and a processor. The processor is configured to acquire commodity information about a commodity based on the symbol read by the reading device and register the commodity using the commodity information. Upon receipt of an input of completion of registration via the input device, the processor determines whether to proceed to payment processing for the registered commodity based on whether the instruction information has been received from the external device.

Merchandise data registration device and method

A merchandise registration apparatus includes: a first reading unit to form a first reading area in which a code symbol attached to merchandise can be read; a second reading unit provided at a location different from that of the first reading unit, and to form a second reading area overlapping with at least a part of the first reading area, in which the code symbol can be read; a first acquisition unit to acquire first code information; a second acquisition unit to acquire second code information; and a registration unit to register the merchandise based on the first code information and the second code information, if the first code information and the second code information match each other.

Merchandise registration apparatus and method

According to one embodiment, a reading apparatus is arranged between an operator and a customer face-to-face standing. The reading apparatus includes a main body, a first image capturing section for the operator, a second image capturing section for the customer, and a processing section, an output section. The first image capturing section is arranged at the main body and photographs a commodity. The second image capturing section is arranged at the main body and photographs the customer-holding object. The processing section executes sales registration. The output section acquires images captured by the first and second image capturing sections to output the images to the processing section. When transaction starting is instructed, the output section acquires the images captured by the first and second image capturing sections and adds an identifier to each image to be output to the processing section. The identifier represents a source capturing an image.

Reading apparatus

In one embodiment, a commodity sales data processing apparatus includes a portable data processing terminal with a first connector and a touch panel. A docking station has a second connector which connects to the first connector and performs transmission and/or reception of information between the data processing terminal and the docking station, when the data processing terminal is connected to the docking station. A connection mechanism connects the data processing terminal and the docking station in a separable state. A lock mechanism locks connection by the connection mechanism, so as to make the connection by the connection mechanism from in the separable state to in an inseparable state, and releases locking of the connection by the connection mechanism when a specific key operation is performed.

Commodity sales data processing apparatus

In accordance with one embodiment, a reading apparatus is arranged between an operator and a customer who stand in a face-to-face manner. The reading apparatus includes a main body, a first image capturing section for the operator, a second image capturing section for the customer, and a first display section for the operator. The main body has an opening on a surface thereof facing the operator. The first image capturing section is housed in the main body and photographs a commodity through the opening of the main body. The second image capturing section is arranged at the main body and photographs an object held by the customer. The first display section is arranged above the opening of the main body and displays information relating to sales registration processing. The main body has an upper surface inclined downwards from the operator side to the customer side, and the second image capturing section is arranged at the inclined upper surface.

In accordance with one embodiment, a reading apparatus, arranged at a position between an operator and a customer who stand in face to face manner, comprises a main body having an opening on a surface thereof facing the operator, a first image capturing section for operator, housed in the main body, configured to photograph a commodity through the opening of the main body to capture an image of the commodity, and a second image capturing section for customer, arranged on the main body, configured to photograph an object held by the customer to capture an image of the object.

In one embodiment, a commodity sales data processing apparatus has a data processing terminal and a docking station. Further, the commodity sales data processing apparatus has a connection mechanism and a lock mechanism. The connection mechanism connects the data processing terminal and the docking station in a separable state. The lock mechanism locks connection by the connection mechanism, so as to make the connection by the connection mechanism from in the separable state to in an inseparable state. Further, the lock mechanism releases locking of the connection by the connection mechanism when a specific key operation is performed.

In one embodiment, a docking station on which a data processing terminal is to be mounted has a power source device and a processor. The power source device applies an operating voltage of the data processing terminal and a testing voltage lower than the operating voltage to a power feeding terminal which is in contact with a power source terminal of the data processing terminal. The processor, when having determined that the mounting mechanism is locked, controls the power source device, so that the testing voltage is applied to the power feeding terminal. Further, the processor, when having determined that the mounting mechanism is locked and having determined that the data processing terminal is mounted on the mounting mechanism, controls the power source device, so that the operating voltage is applied to the power feeding terminal.

In accordance with one embodiment, a reading apparatus, arranged at a position between an operator and a customer who stand in a face to face manner, comprises a main body having an opening on a surface thereof facing the operator, an image capturing section for operator, housed in the main body, configured to photograph a commodity through the opening of the main body to capture an image of the commodity, and a reading section for customer, arranged on the main body, configured to communicate with an object, which is held by the customer and is capable of realizing near field communication, to read specified additional information stored in the object.
