An object of the present invention is to provide a gasket capable of improving sealing performance by solving a non-uniform surface pressure distribution by a grommet structure. Provided is a gasket which is formed by laminating an upper layer, an intermediate layer, and a lower layer and is provided with a penetration hole and a seal bead formed at the upper layer and the lower layer to surround the penetration hole in a ring shape and to be symmetrical with respect to the intermediate layer in the vertical direction, in which the intermediate layer includes a fold-back portion, a surface pressure adjustment portion, and a bead contact portion, a plate thickness of the fold-back portion is thicker than that of the bead contact portion, and the surface pressure adjustment portion sets an upper step to be different from a lower step.

Gasket

A metal gasket includes first and second metal plates laminated together to form the metal gasket, and having holes to be sealed. At least one of the first and second metal plates has a half bead surrounding the hole. A surface pressure assistance plate is located at least adjacent to the half bead between the first and second metal plates. The assistance plate has depressions and projections with respect to a thickness direction thereof in at least a peripheral part thereof.

Metal gasket

A metal laminate gasket includes a plurality of metal plates including a first metal plate having a first hole to be sealed and a bead around the first hole, and a second metal plate laminated under the first metal plate and having a second hole corresponding to the first hole. Concavities and convexities are formed at the second metal plate concentrically around the second hole for increasing an apparent plate thickness of the second metal plate. The concavities and convexities are provided continuously at a position corresponding to the foot portion or the top portion of the bead of the first metal plate. The concavities and convexities have a height and width smaller than those of the bead, and have a deformation characteristic due to a surface pressure when compressed, smaller than that of the bead.

Metal laminate gasket

A metal gasket includes at least one structural plate having a sealing bore and bolt holes located around the seal bore. An inner bead is formed on the at least one structural plate to surround the sealing bore. The inner bead has first neighboring portions near the bolt holes and first outer portions outside the first neighboring portions. The first neighboring portion has a compression resistance smaller than that of the first outer portion. An outer bead is formed on the at least one structural plate to surround the inner bead such that the bolt holes are located inside thereof. The outer bead has second neighboring portions near the bolt holes and second outer portions outside the second neighboring portions. The second neighboring portion has a compression resistance greater than that of the second outer portion.

A cylinder head gasket includes at least one metal plate having a plurality of cylinder bores, a plurality of liquid holes and a plurality of bolt holes. Sealing beads are formed around the cylinder bores and the fluid holes, and a parting bead is formed separately from the sealing beads. In case the at least one metal plate is divided, in a plan view, into four areas including a front side and a rear side, and an intake side and an exhaust side by two straight lines perpendicular to each other to have equal areas, respectively, the parting bead is added to at least one of the four areas such that a total length of the sealing bead and the parting bead therein is between 95% and 100% of one of the four areas having a longest total length of the sealing bead.

Cylinder head gasket and method of making cylinder head gasket

A metal laminate gasket includes a first metal plate having a folded portion at a peripheral of a combustion chamber hole, a second metal plate provided in the folded portion, a third metal plate provided in the folded portion and having an extension portion extending outwardly from the folded portion, a fourth metal plate provided on a folded side of the first metal plate and partially overlapping a part of the extension portion of the third metal plate, and a fifth metal plate provided on the folded side of the first metal plate so that the fifth metal plate does not overlap the third metal plate. A bead is provided on at least one of the second and third metal plates and situated inside the folded portion. A total thickness of the metal laminate gasket declines in a stepwise fashion from the folded portion.

A metal laminate gasket to be arranged between two members includes a first metal plate and a second metal plate laminated together. The first metal plate has a first hole to be sealed, a first bead around the first hole, and a plurality of second holes around the first bead as bolt holes. The second metal plate has a third hole and fourth holes corresponding to the first and second holes, respectively, and depressions formed at a side facing the first metal plate around the third hole. Each of the depressions is formed on two sides of a line connecting a center of the third hole and a center of each of the fourth holes so that a compressing force of the bead when the gasket is compressed becomes substantially equal around the first hole.

A metal gasket includes at least three metal plates including first, second and third metal plates laminated in this order from a top to form the metal gasket. Identification marks are provided on at least second and third metal plates in a position not to overlap with one another, and penetration windows are formed in at least the first and second metal plates. The penetration windows are arranged to see the identification mark therethrough located lower than the metal plate where the penetration window is formed.

Metal gasket and mis-assembly detection method of metal gasket

A metal gasket includes a first metal plate having positioning holes, and a second metal plate laminated under the first metal plate. The second metal plate has positioning projections facing corresponding positioning holes and fitted into the facing corresponding positioning holes. At least one of the positioning holes does not match the other of the positioning holes in case the position holes are overlapped, and at least one of the positioning projections is not fitted into the other of the positioning holes.

A cylinder head gasket is formed of at least one metal plate for forming the gasket. The gasket includes cylinder bores, and sealing devices or beads to surround the cylinder bores. A notch portion for reducing surface pressure is provided at a flat portion of the at least one metal plate where a rigidity of the sealing device is not affected.

Cylinder head gasket

A metal laminate gasket includes a first metal substrate having a base portion and a folded portion, a second metal substrate laminated with the first metal plate, an intermediate plate disposed between the base portion and the second metal substrate, and a bead plate situated under the base portion. The bead plate includes a first full bead disposed around the first hole to project toward the base portion, and an outside portion disposed above the intermediate plate. The bead plate, first and second metal substrates and intermediate plate have first and second holes. The bead plate is formed to surround the first and second holes without extending to an entire area of the gasket. The total plate thickness of the first and second metal substrates, bead plate and intermediate plate at the full bead position is substantially same as that around the second hole.

Laminate-type gasket

A cylinder head gasket is used for an engine having a cylinder liner and a cylinder block. The gasket includes first to third metal plates laminated together. The first metal plate includes a base portion, a curved portion, a flange extending from the curved portion, and a first damper bead formed on the base portion around a cylinder liner. The first damper bead is formed of a full bead, extends toward the flange and crosses a border portion between the cylinder liner and the cylinder block. The second metal plate is disposed over the base portion, and has an inner portion inserted between the flange and the base portion, an outer portion outside the inner portion, and a second damper bead formed on the outer portion to extend toward the first damper bead. The third metal plate is placed between the first damper bead and the second damper bead.

A metal laminate cylinder head gasket has a first metal plate having a first notched portion, a second metal plate having a folded projection extending therefrom, and a middle metal plate having, adjacent to the first notched portion, a second notched portion. The middle metal plate is clamped between the first metal plate and the second metal plate. The folded projection is located such that in an area defined by the first and second notched portions, the first and middle metal plates are clamped by the folded projection. The gasket combines the function of a shim for adjusting the thickness of the gasket, and the function of affixing the metal plates.
