A remote surgery supporting system and a method thereof produces a presentation of realism control data generated by realism control data generating means 101 from image data obtained from work environment data detecting means 104 and measurement data processing means 118 and from force and proximity data. While viewing this presentation, the surgical operator inputs actions through action command inputting means 114 and thereafter, diseased tissue manipulating means 102 executes a procedure on diseased part 125. The manipulation force of each surgical operator received from manipulation command generating means 103 and force reflection from the diseased part 125 are combined and presented to the action command inputting means 114. Thereby, a plurality of surgical operators can perform a surgerical operation while viewing the realism control data and sensing the manipulation force of other surgical operators and the force reflection from the diseased part. Thus, a master/slave type remote surgery supporting system which allows a plurality of surgical operators to perform a surgical operation which requires many degrees of freedom can be provided.

This invention provides highly thermally stable trehalose phosphorylases. The trehalose phosphorylases of the present invention can be obtained from cultured mixture of microorganisms and are highly thermally stable, and produce .alpha.-D-glucose 1-phosphate and D-glucose by an action on trehalose and an inorganic phosphoric acid or salt thereof, or trehalose by an action on .alpha.-D-glucose 1-phosphate and D-glucose. A process for producing trehalose from inexpensive saccharide raw materials via an enzymic method uses stable enzymes with high productivity. The process includes incubating a saccharide raw material and an inorganic phosphoric acid and/or a salt thereof in the presence of phosphorylase to produce .alpha.-glucose 1-phosphate, and contacting the produced .alpha.-glucose 1-phosphate with glucose in the presence of a trehalose phosphorylase to produce trehalose. The isolation and purification of trehalose is easier in comparison to conventional fermentation methods.

In cultivation of the Basidiomycetes under aeration and agitation in an aqueous liquid medium containing saccharide as a carbon source and yeast extract, peptone, casamino acid and/or meat extract as nutrient, the initial charge of the medium is adjusted such that it is less than about 70% of the capacity of the fermentor used, and the medium or at least one component thereof is supplied additionally in portions as cultivation advances. Such control of the medium feed suppresses excessive foaming which occurs in the aqueous medium during cultivation, and allows smooth and efficient cultivation of the Basidiomycetes.

The fungi belonging to the Coriolus genus is first extracted with water or a dilute alkaline solution and then further extracted stepwise by using alkaline solutions with gradually increased concentrations to obtain a nitrogen-containing polysaccharide having an anti-tumor activity in a high yield.

The fungi belonging to the Coriolus genus are extracted by using a dilute alkaline solution having a concentration within a certain specified range whereby the low molecular weight substances with molecular weight of less than 5,000 are obtained in there extract solution. These low molecular weight substances are separated from the extract solution to obtain a nitrogen-containing polysaccharide having excellent anti-tumor activity.

When a dikaryotic mycelium of Coriolus versicolor (Fr.) Quel. (a species of fungi belonging to the genus Coriolus of Polyporaceae) is subjected to a mechanical treatment such as grinding or shearing in a liquid medium, or when such mycelium is subjected to submerged culture while undergoing mechanical treatment, there is produced a monokaryotic mycelium which is different from the dikaryotic mycelium in morphological and physiological characteristics. The thus obtained monokaryotic mycelium is a novel product and characterized by its extremely high propagation rate as compared with the known dikaryotic mycelium. Also, the substance extracted from the culture of the mycelium has excellent physiological activities.

Method of producing a stable monokaryotic mycelium of Coriolus

A fungus belonging to genus Coriolus of the class Basidiomycetes is subjected to submerged culture in a liquid medium and the obtained culture is dried and extracted with an aqueous solvent, and then the substances with molecular weights of less than 5,000 are eliminated from the extract solution, whereby a polysaccharide having anti-cancer and other pharmacodynamic effects is obtained in a high yield.

Polysaccharides are produced by purifying a liquid extract of a mycelium of a strain of fungus species belonging to the class Basidiomycetes or the filtered broth of a cultured medium in which a mycelium of a selected strain of Basidiomycetes has been incubated; the polysaccharides exhibiting an anticarcinogenic activity in mice.
