In a radio communication network system for use in carrying out communication with a plurality of radio telephone sets in a service zone by the use of a control channel and a plurality of speech channels, a connecting equipment unit (CE) is selectively operable in cooperation with a radio control unit (RCU) in a speech mode of forming a speech path through a selected one of the speech channels and an additional mode of selectively monitoring the control and the speech channels. The additional mode may be divided into first and second control modes for allowing and rejecting reception of a call with the control channel monitored, respectively. Alternatively, either a rest mode or a combination of rest and initial program loading modes may be added to the additional mode. A plurality of the connecting equipment units may be located in a single service zone and selectively put into the speech and the additional modes with only one of the connecting equipment units kept in the first control mode.

A radio telephone system has a radio telephone set which has a receiving circuit the power of which is turned on or off in predetermined cycles, a radio connector transmit an ID number of the radio zone where it exists for a longer period than the period of turning on or off the power supply of the receiving circuit of the radio telephone set in predetermined cycles, the radio telephone set compares the ID number of the radio zone received with that stored in a memory, and when the ID numbers fail to coincide with each other, the ID number of the radio telephone set and the ID number of the radio zone received are transmitted as a position entry signal to a radio channel control unit through the radio connector, and the radio channel control unit being adapted to register the ID number of the radio telephone set and that of the radio zone.

For use in a mobile radio telephone network including radio telephone sets movable in an area divided into a predetermined number of zones, a communication control system includes a searching arrangement (25, 33) for searching one (15') of radio communication devices of the network as a searched communication device that is assigned to a present one of the zones into which a specific one (11') of the radio telephone sets has moved from a previous one of the zones. For operation of the searching arrangement, a communicating arrangement (22, 25, 32) of the system sends a call signal to a specific one of the radio communication devices that is assigned to the previous zone to transmit the call signal to the specific telephone set and receives a response signal transmitted from the specific telephone set if the specific telephone set were in the previous zone. For the communicating arrangement, a selecting arrangement (21, 25, 31) selects the specific communication device with reference to a memory (27) for memorizing, in correspondence to the radio telephone sets, location information indicative of the radio communication devices assigned to the zones in which the radio telephone sets are present at a time. The searching arrangement preferably updates the memory to make the information indicate the searched communication device instead of the specific communication device.
