To reduce the effect of a steering operation on feeling. A rack bush comprises: a bush body that is accommodated in a cylindrical housing, supports a load exerted on a rack bar while allowing the rack bar to move in the direction of an axial center O, and can be extended and retracted in a radial direction; and an elastic ring mounted on the bush body. The bush body has a mounting groove for mounting the elastic ring, the mounting groove being formed peripherally in an outer peripheral surface, and the mounting groove having a large-diameter part where the circumferential radius of a groove bottom is a first radius r, and a small-diameter part where said radius is a second radius rthat is less than the first radius r. This configuration allows the formation of an elastic ring protruding part, in which the elastic ring protrudes greatly from the outer peripheral surface of the bush body, and an elastic ring embedded part, in which the elastic ring is embedded in the outer peripheral surface of the bush body.

Bearing and steering mechanism

Provided is a rack bush capable of reducing an effect on the feeling of a steering operation. A rack bush () comprises: a rack bushhoused in a cylindrical housing (), which supports a load applied to a rack bar () while allowing movement of the rack bar () in the direction of the axis (O) and can be freely expanded and contracted in the radial direction; and elastic rings () mounted on the bush body (). The bush body () has mounting grooves (), which are formed in the circumferential direction on an outer peripheral surface () for mounting the elastic ring (). An axis (P) of the mounting groove () are shifted from the axis (O) of the bush body (). By this arrangement, there are formed an elastic ring protruding part (), where the elastic rings () protrude greatly from the outer peripheral surface () of the bush body (), and an elastic ring embedded part (), where the elastic rings () are embedded in the outer peripheral surface () of the bush body ().

Rack bush and steering mechanism

Provided is a slide bearing of lower cost that is capable of preventing the intrusion of dust, muddy water, etc. and has good sliding performance. In a ring-shaped space () formed by assembling an upper case () with a lower case, a ring-shaped outer dust seal part (), which bends with one end () contacting the upper case () and the other end () contacting the lower case, is disposed on the outside of a ring-shaped thrust bearing part (), and the outer dust seal part () is connected to the thrust bearing part () by connecting parts () that extend radially outward from the outside of the thrust bearing part (), integrating the two as a dust seal-integrated center plate (). Disposed between the thrust bearing part () and the upper case () is a ring-shaped lubrication sheet (), which has surfaces () that slide on the mating surfaces facing same.

Slide bearing

Provided is a sliding bearing wherein radial play is prevented. A sliding bearing () comprises: an upper case () mounted to an upper support for mounting the strut assembly of a strut-type suspension to a vehicle body; a lower case () which is mounted to an upper spring seat for supporting the upper end of the coil spring of the strut-type suspension, is combined with the upper case () so that the upper case () and the lower case () can pivot relative to each other, and forms an annular space () between the upper case () and the lower case (); and an annular center plate () disposed in the annular space () and enabling the upper case () and the lower case () to pivot relative to each other. The center plate () has a circular conical surface-shaped bearing surface (). The upper case () has a circular conical surface-shaped load transmission surface () sliding on the bearing surface () of the center plate ().

Sliding bearing

A multilayered sliding member has a resin composition filled in pores of, and coated on the surface of, a porous sintered metal layerformed on the surface of a metallic backing plate. The resin composition is formed by compounding a phosphate, a carbon black, a melt moldable fluororesin, and a PTFE serving as a principal component, and is preferably formed by further containing graphite and/or a low molecular weight PTFE.

Multilayered sliding member

A cylindrical bearing with a solid lubricant embedded and fixed in a plurality of first and second helical grooves formed in an inner peripheral surface thereof, wherein each first helical groove is formed with a rightward rising inclination at an angle .theta..sub.1 of more than 0.degree. and not more than 45.degree. with respect to a reference line, while each second helical groove is formed with a leftward rising inclination at an angle .theta..sub.2 of more than 0.degree. and not more than 45.degree. with respect to the reference line, a line which connects shorter diagonal lines of parallelograms each formed by connecting points of intersection of adjacent ones of the first helical grooves and adjacent ones of the second helical grooves intersecting with the adjacent ones of the first helical grooves forms an angle .theta..sub.3 of less than 90.degree. with respect to the reference line.
