An optical fiber grating part including an elongated pedestal, and a base plate installed on said pedestal, and having a different coefficient of linear thermal expansion from said pedestal, and an optical fiber passing through said pedestal, and connected to connection points installed on said pedestal or said base plate located apart from each other in the longitudinal direction of said pedestal, and having an optical fiber grating located between said connection points, wherein a predetermined tensile force is added to said optical fiber grating, and said pedestal and said base plates thermally expand or thermally shrink independently in the longitudinal direction of said pedestal, and an extension line of an axis of said optical fiber joining said connection points passes through a contact surface between said pedestal and said base plate.

Optical fiber grating part

A temperature-compensated optical fiber component for use in high-density WDM optical communication includes an optical fiber which has a Bragg grating serving as a monochromatic filter, an inner package which supports the optical fiber and causes the Bragg grating to have a temperature-compensating capability, and an outer package arranged outside the inner package. A clearance having a heat insulating function is provided between the outer package and the inner package.

Temperature-compensated optical fiber component

An optical module comprises an optical fiber having a formed portion to form a fiber grating and a package to which the optical fiber is secured. The package comprises a single package member or at least two or more package members whose materials differ from each other. The optical fiber is secured to the package member. A distortion for adjusting a Bragg reflection wavelength of the fiber grating of the optical fiber is given to the package member.

An optical module comprising: a comb-shaped package having a plurality of teeth portions and a base portion; and at least one optical fiber having fiber grating, wherein respective fiber-grating formed portions of at least one optical fiber are placed in corresponding teeth portions and base portion of said package, and the optical fiber is fixed to the base portion and corresponding teeth portion in such manner that the fiber-grating formed portion exists between the base portion and the corresponding teeth portion.

An optical module for reducing the variance of grating spacing in an optical fiber comprises an optical fiber receiving portion having an optical fiber receiving portion and optical fiber securing portions for receiving and securing the optical fiber to the optical module, respectively. An adhesive agent containing filler and having an excellent water-vapor resistance is applied to the securing portions of the optical module for securing the fiber grating portion of the optical fiber to the optical module.

Apparatus and method for reducing the variance of grating spacing in an optical fiber

A method for connecting optical waveguides to optical fibers, the optical waveguides being arranged side by side in an optical waveguide circuit device, the method including inserting optical fibers into arranging guide grooves formed side by side in a guide substrate of an optical fiber array device, warping the optical fiber array device by a contraction stress caused by hardening of an adhesive for attaching the guide substrate to a cap plate for attachment and fixing, and optically connecting the optical waveguides to the optical fibers, by facing a connection terminal surface of the optical waveguide circuit device to a connection terminal surface of the optical fiber array device in the curved shape.

Optical fiber array and optical light-wave device, and connecting the same

An optical waveguide module is provided, which comprises an optical waveguide component having an auxiliary connection member connected to an end of an optical waveguide chip and at least one array member for attaching an end of at least one optical fiber to a connection member to be connected to the auxiliary connection member. The optical waveguide component and the array member are connected to each other via the auxiliary connection member and the connection member. A presser member is disposed to press at least one of the optical waveguide chip and the optical fiber in the direction of the connection. An optical waveguide exposed from the end of the optical waveguide chip is in direct contact with the core of the optical fiber exposed from an end of the array member.

Optical waveguide module optically connected with an optical fiber

An optical fiber array device including a guide substrate formed with a plurality of optical fiber arranging guide grooves and a cap plate, the optical fiber array device being warped by a contraction stress associated with hardening an adhesive used to attach the guide substrate to the cap plate, the warp being controlled to align the optical fiber array device with a corresponding optical waveguide device.

Optical wavelength multiplexed transmission module, and wavelength multiplexed transmission system using the same

A grating-type optical component having a high isolation ability at a light-blocking band and a small clad layer mode combination loss at a signal transmission band, and its manufacturing method are provided. A selected area on a core of an optical fiber is irradiated by ultraviolet beams emitted from an excimer laser source through a phase mask in order to produce high index of refraction areas and low index of refraction areas arranged alternately and periodically along the longitudinal axis of the optical fiber. This ultraviolet irradiation is terminated before the index of refraction, which is increasing due to the ultraviolet irradiation, reaches a target value. Then, the phase mask is removed, and the selected area of the core is again irradiated by ultraviolet beams, thereby completing the grating-type optical fiber.
