An image processing system and method for copying an original document while maintaining the security of the document and for providing a high quality copy each time a copy is required. The system and method include inputting image information, generating output limitation information corresponding to the inputted image information, storing the inputted image information and the corresponding output limitation information, reading a document containing specifying information for specifying the stored image information, outputting the stored specified image information in accordance with reading of the specifying information, determining whether the image information specified by reading the specifying information is to be output based on the output limitation information corresponding to the image information, controlling the outputting of the image information in accordance with the determination, and varying the output limitation information corresponding to the image information in accordance with outputting of the image information.

Image processing system

There is provided a service providing system that is capable of preventing personal information on a user who has used a service from being leaked to other users without spoiling the convenience for the user, and increasing the frequency with which the user uses the service. The service providing system includes a service providing apparatus that provides a service for the user, and a password issuing device that issues a password with an expiration date that is made to correspond to identification information held by the user in response to the payment of a fee by the user. The service providing apparatus includes a memory that stores setting data used for simplifying operations relating to the service provided for the user, and a CPU. The CPU authenticates the user according to the identification information on the user, the password issued to the user, and the expiration date thereof, and gives the authenticated user a permission to perform operations on the setting data stored in the memory.

An image processing system and method for copying an original document while maintaining the security of the document and for providing a high quality copy each time a copy is required. The system and method comprising inputting image information, generating output limitation information corresponding to the image information, storing the image information and corresponding output limitation information, reading a document containing the output limitation information, and outputting the stored image information in accordance with reading of the output limitation information.

An output apparatus comprises: a plurality of interface sections for inputting data which is supplied from an upper apparatus such as a host computer; an input buffer section to store the input data; an analyzing section for analyzing the input data and for forming predetermined image data; and an output section such as a laser beam printer or the like for outputting or printing the image data. The output apparatus further includes a judging section for judging whether the data inputted from which one of the plurality of interface sections should be deleted, a deleting section for deleting by a predetermined method the data of the input buffer section in which the data to be deleted has been stored, and a notifying section to notify the interface which is deleting at present to the operator. When the designated interface section differs from the interface section which is printing at present, it is judged that the data in the input buffer section should be deleted. When the designated interface section coincides with the interface section which is printing at present, the data in both the input buffer section and the data storing section to store the image data is deleted.

Output apparatus and output method

When a host computer makes a printer print a document, the driver on the host computer sends character codes of characters that appear for the first time in that document and corresponding character images to the printer in advance, and registers them. After this process, the driver transmits, to the printer, characters in the document to be printed as character codes, and data other than characters as mapped image. The printer maps an image on a page memory, maps characters as images with reference to the registered character codes and character image, and superposes the mapped character images on the image mapped on the page buffer. The printer prints the image on paper. The printer can divide an image into bands, and can map the image in units of bands, in place of pages. With this arrangement, the memory capacity can be reduced, and bands having identical contents or blank bands can be processed as codes.

Printing system

A private branch exchange apparatus which encloses a plurality of external lines and a plurality of extensions including a discriminating circuit to discriminate the number of calls which are being executed and a refusing circuit to refuse a reception call when it is discriminated by the discriminating circuit that the number of calls which are being executed is equal to or larger than a predetermined value such as 1.

A private branch exchange so adapted that a plurality of call transfer addresses for an incoming call can be set for an ISDN terminal includes a controller having a decision unit for analyzing the incoming call and deciding an extension terminal that is to receive the incoming call, and a first transmitting unit for transmitting set-up messages to an ISDN extension interface. The ISDN extension interface accommodates a line connected to one or more ISDN terminals and has a second transmitting unit for transmitting a predetermined first message of the set-up messages to the terminal to which the set-up messages from the first transmitting unit are to be sent, a receiving unit for receiving a predetermined second message from the ISDN terminal that has received the first message, and a third transmitting unit for transmitting this received message to the controller. The controller further has an analyzing unit for analyzing a transfer-addressed number, notification of which is given by the ISDN terminal, contained in the message from the third transmitting unit of the ISDN extension interface, and a notifying unit for notifying a plurality of extension terminals, which correspond to the transfer-addressed number, of the incoming call via the ISDN extension interface.

Private branch exchange

A PBX incorporates a table for storing information indicating whether a calling mode of each extension terminal designates an extension or a trunk. Upon reception of an incoming call from an ISDN, the PBX checks whether a calling party number is included in the 'set-up' message. If a calling party number is included, the PBX checks the calling mode of an extension terminal as a called party by referring to the table. If the default designates an extension, the PBX adds a trunk access code to the calling party number in the 'set-up' message, and sends the resultant number to the terminal as the called party. If, therefore, the terminal which receives the incoming call has a function of generating a call to the party of the stored calling party number, the terminal can generate an outgoing call regardless of whether the calling mode of the terminal designates a trunk or an extension.
