The present invention has an objective to improve the storage characteristics and pulse discharge characteristics, especially in the high temperature region of 100&#xb0; C. or more, of a lithium battery comprising a positive electrode including manganese oxide, a negative electrode, and a non-aqueous electrolyte. To achieve this objective, the lithium battery of the present invention includes a positive electrode () including manganese oxide in mixed crystal state, a negative electrode () desorbing lithium ions during discharging, and a non-aqueous electrolyte having lithium ion conductivity. The aforementioned manganese oxide in mixed crystal state includes at least &#x3bb;-type manganese oxide and &#x3b2;-type manganese oxide. The aforementioned non-aqueous electrolyte includes at least one additive selected from the group consisting of cyclic sultone compounds and sulfone compounds.

Lithium battery including positive electrode comprising manganese oxide in a mixed crystal state

A lithium primary battery including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, an organic electrolyte, and a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode: the negative electrode including a negative electrode active material; the negative electrode active material being at least one selected from the group consisting of lithium metal and a lithium alloy; at least a surface layer portion of the negative electrode including a composite of amorphous carbon material and the negative electrode active material; and the surface layer portion facing the positive electrode with the separator interposed therebetween.

Lithium primary battery and manufacturing method therefor

A lithium primary battery including: a positive electrode containing a mixed crystalline manganese oxide; a negative electrode containing at least one selected from the group consisting of lithium and a lithium alloy; and a lithium-ion conductive non-aqueous electrolyte. The mixed crystalline manganese oxide contains at least &#x3bb;-type manganese oxide and &#x3b2;-type manganese oxide, and the &#x3b2;-type manganese oxide has a crystallinity of 300 to 500. The mixed crystalline manganese oxide preferably has a specific surface area of 0.5 to 4 m/g. The lithium alloy preferably contains at least aluminum in an amount of 0.2 wt % to 15 wt %.

Lithium primary battery

The instant specification discloses a flat battery constituted by sealing a power generation element with: a case that works as one electrode terminal; a sealing plate that works as the other electrode terminal and has a flat central section projected outward and a flat peripheral section extending substantially parallel to the flat central section; and a gasket that insulates the case from the sealing plate, characterized in that the peripheral section of the sealing plate has an outer circumferential part being bent, or the case has a turned edge provided to make the peripheral section of the sealing plate fitted therein via the gasket and to partly press the gasket. The flat battery of the present invention having improvement in shape of the sealing plate and/or the case is sufficiently thin and exerts the effects of high leakage resistance and excellent mass productivity.

Flat battery

A gasket-integrated case is obtained by punching out a circular piece from a metal sheet on which a gasket resin film having a round hole is integrally laminated with an adhesive, in such a way as to have a diameter concentric with, but larger than, the round hole, and by drawing the circular piece into a bottomed cylindrical shape. Elements for electromotive force and a sealing plate are then disposed on the case, and the periphery of the sealing plate is sandwiched and sealed by the periphery of the case by crimping, with a gasket including the resin film interposed therebetween, so that a coin-shaped battery is formed. The resin film has a thickness in the range of 20 &mgr;m to 150 &mgr;m and a modulus of elasticity equal to or greater than 35 kgf/mm .

Coin-shaped battery and method for producing the same

A chargeable lithium secondary cell comprising a positive electrode composed mainly of vanadium pentaoxide, a negative electrode of a compound of lithium with niobium pentaoxide and an electrolyte of an organic solvent in which a lithium salt is dissolved, wherein resistance to overdischarge is obtained by a constitution that the molar ratio of the niobium pentaoxide to vanadium pentaoxide is from not less than 0.5 to not more than 1 and the molar ratio of the total litium contained in the positive and negative electrodes to vanadium pentaoxide is from not less than 1.1 to not more than 2.

Lithium secondary cell

A lithium secondary battery which comprises a positive electrode made of vanadium pentoxide as a principle component, a negative electrode made of lithium absorbing alloy, and an electrolyte prepared from an organic solvent dissolved with lithium salt. The lithium absorbing alloy is an alloy containing aluminum as a principle component, and the amount of lithium absorbed by the alloy is not greater than 8 wt % relative to the weight of the vanadium pentoxide and not smaller than 4 wt % relative to the alloy containing the aluminum as the principal component.
