An information setting display apparatus and its control method are capable of displaying many setting items and setting contents on a small screen without degrading visual recognition and operation performance in a whole setting process and without sacrificing visual recognition of a setting item to be actually set. The apparatus displays setting items in one column and displays each of displayed setting items and corresponding setting contents in one row; in response to a selection of any one of the displayed setting items, displays the selected setting item by expanding the selected setting item, and displays the setting items not selected, by compressing the setting items not selected; and in response to a selection of any one of the setting contents corresponding to the selected setting item, displays the selected setting content by expanding it to a greater degree than the setting contents corresponding to the setting items not selected.

An ink jet recording apparatus is provided with a recording function to record images on a sheet material by installing an ink jet recording head that discharges ink from the ink discharge ports, and also, with an image reading function to read images from a sheet material by installing an image reading head exchangeably. This apparatus includes the discharge port surface of the ink jet recording head having the ink discharge ports formed on it, the image reading surface of the image reading head to read images to this head from the image reading surface, and a member that abuts upon the ink discharge port surface arranged to be in contact with the ink discharge port surface of the ink jet recording head. This member is arranged so as not to be in contact with the image reading surface of the image reading head. Thus the image reading surface of the image reading head is prevented from being stained by ink. Also, this apparatus can be made smaller with a simple structure to provide both reading and recording functions.

A recording apparatus for effecting recording on a recording medium by a recording head having a first recording portion and a second recording portion includes a recording medium conveying path for conveying the recording medium in opposed relationship with the recording head, and a reversing mechanism portion disposed in the recording medium conveying path, the reversing mechanism portion spacing a first side of the recording medium apart from the first recording portion, and thereafter reversing the recording medium so as to oppose a second side of the recording medium to the second recording portion.

A color ink jet recording method/apparatus is capable of reducing blurring of ink dots without reducing dot saturation, generating no difference in tones of secondary colors, and inviting no reduction of throughput, hence materializing an excellent performance of recording in high quality at high speed. A color image is formed by causing ink dots of plural colors to land in such a manner that each of the ink dots is essentially not superposed. The ink dots have the optical density of 1 or more and 1.5 or less. Thereby, overlapping between adjacent ink dots is lessened, and thus a high-quality color image having no difference in tones of secondary colors and a high saturation can be attained.

An ink jet recording apparatus for performing recording by discharging ink from an ink jet recording head to a recording medium includes a carriage, an ink tank, an ink supply and a moving mechanism. The carriage reciprocably moves the recording head in a carriage moving direction different from a conveying direction of the recording medium. The ink tank is supported by the carriage and contains the ink to be supplied to the ink jet recording head. A length of the ink tank in the carriage moving direction is greater than that of the ink jet recording head in the carriage moving direction. The ink supply member forms an ink supply path for supplying the ink of the ink tank to the ink jet recordding head. The moving mechanism relatively moves the ink jet recording head and the ink tank so that the moving distance of the ink tank is shorter than the moving distance of the ink jet recording head when the carriage moves from one end to another end of a recordable range.
