A sliding system includes a pair of sliding members having sliding surfaces that can relatively move while facing each other and a lubricant oil interposed between the sliding surfaces facing each other. At least one of the sliding surfaces includes a coating surface of a crystalline Cr plating film. The lubricant oil contains an oil-soluble molybdenum compound comprising a trinuclear Mo structure. In particular, considerably low friction properties can be developed by a combination of the Cr plating film, in which at least one of three types of peak area intensity ratios (Pto P) as obtained by X-ray diffraction falls within a predetermined range (P&#x2265;0.015, P&#x2265;0.02, P&#x2265;0.03), and the lubrication oil which contains the trinuclear Mo structure.

Sliding system

The low friction sliding member includes a substrate and an amorphous hard carbon film formed on the surface of the substrate and makes sliding contact with a mating member under a wet oiling condition. The lubricant oil includes at least one of sulfur (S) and phosphorus (P) and at least one of zinc (Zn), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), sodium (Na), barium (Ba) and copper (Cu). The amorphous hard carbon film comprises carbon (C) as a major component, and hydrogen (H) in the range from 5 to 25 atomic % and a predetermined amount of boron (B), aluminum (Al), manganese (Mn) or molybdenum (Mo) assuming that the total atomic % of the amorphous carbon film is 100.

Low friction sliding member

A diesel engine includes a fuel supply passage via which fuel is supplied from a fuel tank to an oil pan through a supply pump, a lubrication-system fuel supply passage via which fuel is supplied from the oil pan to engine parts to be lubricated through a lubricating oil pump, and an injection-system fuel supply passage via which fuel is supplied from the oil pan to an injection system through an injection pump.

Under wet sliding conditions using drivetrain system lubricating oils, a high frictional sliding member exhibiting a high friction coefficient, a favorable &#x3bc;&#x2212;v characteristic stably, excellent wear resistance, and low mating-member aggressiveness is provided. The present invention is a wet sliding member comprising: a substrate composed of metal, ceramics, or resin; and an amorphous hard carbon film formed integrally on a surface of the substrate, having a surface, at least a part of which is turned into a sliding surface for sliding under wet conditions, and containing at least either one of Si and N in an amount of from 1 to 50 atomic %.

High friction sliding member

A diesel engine () includes a fuel supply passage () via which fuel is supplied from a fuel tank () to an oil pan () through a supply pump (), a lubrication-system fuel supply passage () via which fuel is supplied from the oil pan () to engine parts () to be lubricated through a lubricating oil pump (), and an injection-system fuel supply passage () via which fuel is supplied from the oil pan () to an injection system () through an injection pump ().

A low-friction sliding member is used under a wet condition employing a lubricant, and includes a substrate having a surface, and an amorphous hard carbon film formed on the surface of the substrate for contacting slidably with a mating member. The amorphous hard carbon film includes silicon in an amount of from 1 atomic % or more to 20 atomic % or less, hydrogen in an amount of from 20 atomic % or more to 50 atomic % or less, and the balance of carbon and inevitable impurities, when the entirety is taken as 100 atomic %, and exhibits a surface roughness Rzof 0.8 &#x3bc;m or less. The low-friction sliding member exhibits reduced friction coefficients between itself and mating members, without relying on the adsorption and reaction of additives, included in lubricants, to the amorphous hard carbon films.

Low-friction sliding member

Disclosed are a metal processing lubricating oil composition and a process for producing the same. A metal processing lubricating oil composition according to this invention comprises mineral oil, synthetic oil or a mixture thereof, and phosphoric ester and orthophosphoric acid mixed and heated in the mineral oil, synthetic oil or mixture thereof. The lubricating oil composition gets rid of the tiresome pre-treatment associated with the conventional lubricating method, and exhibits a high seizure prevention performance in cold plastic working only by coating it on workpieces. The lubricating oil composition may further comprise metallic phosphate to suppress corrosivity against ferrous materials.
