A protective cover ( ) for a taking lens is provided in the front of a lens-fitted photo film unit. The protective cover cooperates with a shutter locking mechanism which locks a shutter button ( ) when the protective cover is in a closed position in front of the taking lens. The protective cover also cooperates with a flash prevention mechanism which turns off a flash charge switch off when the protective cover moves in the closed position, prevents the flash charge switch from being moved to its ON position so long as the protective cover is in the closed position, and allows the flash charge switch to be moved to the ON position when the protective cover is moved away from the taking lens. The protective cover is slidable in a horizontal direction on a front surface portion of the film unit, and the front surface portion is straight in the horizontal direction. The protective cover has a vertical length that does not interfere with a bottom lid ( ) that is provided for removal of an exposed photo filmstrip. A first label is stuck on a front surface of the protective cover, and a second label is wrapped around the film unit excluding the front surface portion the protective cover slide thereon, to decorate and dust-proof the film unit and reinforce the unit housing.

A package cover for packaging a lens-fitted photo film unit includes two side sheets covering two side faces of the lens-fitted photo film unit and an outer sheet covering front, rear, top and bottom faces thereof. The outer sheet is provided with edge portions formed of a plastic sheet which has heat-shrinkable property. After the side sheets are adhered to the lens-fitted photo film unit, the outer sheet is wrapped around it. The edge portions are shrunken by blowing a hot air thereon and fixedly stuck to edges of the side sheets.

A label is supplied from a label supplier to a rotating suction drum. The supplied label is absorbed on the suction drum and conveyed to a label sticking station. During conveyance of the label, passage time of the label at a predetermined point is measured, and a first shifting amount of the label relative to a label conveying direction is calculated. A standby position of the work in the label conveying direction is altered based on the first shifting amount. Further, during conveyance of the label, its location relative to a perpendicular direction to the label conveying direction is detected, and a second shifting amount of the label relative to the perpendicular direction is calculated. A standby position of the work in the perpendicular direction is altered based on the second shifting amount. The position of the work is adjusted to the label so that the label is stuck on the work with great accuracy.

Method and apparatus for sticking a label

A lens-fitted photographic film unit includes a unit body having at least a curved surface, such as a semi-cylindrical grip protruding forwardly from a front wall of the unit body. The unit body is wrapped in an outer case made of a sheet material. The sheet material is knurled or indented with a pattern in those portions of the outer case which are bent to cover the curved to impart flexibility thereto, or where the photographer grips the film unit.

A packaging bag for wrapping a product with an outwardly extended projection has a side sealing portion and opposite end margin sealing portions. The side margin sealing portion is formed by heat-sealing lengthwise side margins of wrapping sheet into a shape of a rectangular tube. The end margin sealing portions are formed by heat-sealing opposite end margins of the rectangular tube. A notch is provided at an edge of the first end margin sealing portion near the side margin sealing portion to make an opening in the package by tearing at least the side margin sealing portion. A tray is provided for removing the product from the packaging bag and for protecting the outwardly extended projection of the product.
