A method for forming a multicolor image comprises: preparing: an image-receiving sheet having a support and an image-receiving layer; and at least four thermal transfer sheets each including a support, a light-to-heat converting layer and an image-forming layer, in which each of the at least four thermal transfer sheets has a different color and each of the image-forming layers in the at least four thermal transfer sheets has a ratio of an optical density (OD) to a layer thickness: OD/layer thickness (&#x3bc;m unit) of 1.50 or more; superposing the image-forming layer in each of the at least four thermal transfer sheets on the image-receiving layer in the image-receiving sheet, in which the image-forming layer is opposed to the image-receiving layer; irradiating the image-forming layer in each of the at least four thermal transfer sheets with a laser beam; and transferring the irradiated area of the image-forming layer onto the image-receiving layer in the image-receiving sheet to record an image, in which the transferred image onto the image-receiving sheet has a resolution of 2400 dpi or more, where in a color matching process is performed before the image is recorded on the image-receiving sheet.

A heat sensitive ink sheet has a heat sensitive ink layer which is formed of a heat sensitive ink material comprising colored pigment and thermoplastic resin such as amorphous organic polymer. An image receiving sheet having a support sheet and an image receiving layer thereon, the support sheet of the image receiving sheet being a porous sheet made of plastics which have fine pores therein. An image forming method is conducted by using the heat sensitive ink sheet and an image receiving sheet by area gradation by the use of a thermal head or laser beam.

A recording material comprising a support coated with a photosensitive layer comprising a photosensitive diazo compound enclosed in microcapsules and a coupling component. The microcapsules are produced by forming an organic solution containing the diazo compound and a wall monomer, and emulsifying the organic solution in an aqueous solution containing an anionic surface-active agent and polyvinylpyrrolidone to produce oil droplets containing the wall monomer. The wall monomer is polymerized to form a wall around the oil droplets. When heat is applied to the photosensitive layer under alkaline conditions, the coupling component reacts with the diazo compound to form a color.

The present invention is directed toward a heat development copying material, comprising a support having provided thereon a photosensitive layer containing a diazo compound, a coupling component, a color-forming assistant, and a film-forming high polymeric binder; and a light-insensitive intermediate laeyr containing a film-forming high polymeric binder, and at least one member selected from the group consisting of a coupling component and a color-forming assistant, wherein the light-insensitive intermediate layer is provided between the support and the photosensitive layer, and a method for forming an image using the above-described copying material.

Heat development type diazo copying material containing a light

A heat-sensitive recording material is disclosed. The material comprises a support having provided on the same surface thereof microcapsules containing a basic colorless dye and an organic solvent, and a developer capable of reacting with the basic colorless dye to develop a color, the capsule walls of said microcapsules being impermeable to either of the basic colorless dye and the developer at room temperature but becoming permeable to the colorless dye and/or the developer upon application of heat. The organic solvent is a compound containing at least two benzene rings in the molecule thereof with a total number of at least one hetero atom selected from nitrogen, sulfur, oxygen and phosphorus atoms, if any, being less than 1/10 a total number of carbon atoms of the organic solvent. The material is excellent in preservability before and after recording and is excellent in heat-developability.

The material has excellent preservability before heat recording, provides a high color density upon heat recording, and develops a black color fixable with light.

A heat-sensitive recording material and a recording method are disclosed, wherein the heat-sensitive recording material comprises a support having formed thereon plural heat-coloring elements each comprising a diazo compound and a coupling component capable of causing heat-coloring, the heat-coloring elements coloring in two or more different hues, and the coloring property in each heat-coloring element being capable of being stopped by the action of different radiations, and the recording method comprises first heat-coloring a heat-coloring element of the heat-sensitive recording material, stopping the heat-coloring property of the uncolored portions of the first heat-coloring element by radiation, and then heat-coloring another heat-coloring element; wherein the recording method comprises applying two or more heat-coloring procedures and one or more irradiations of radiation to form recorded images composed of two or more colors on the same sheet.
