During an operation of assembling a cover on an optical box, a cover-side engaging portion comes into contact with a side wall of the optical box and hence is deformed. An optical scanning apparatus is configured so that a distal end portion of a protrusion and an apex portion of a side wall of an optical box pass each other prior to a distal end portion of a cover-side engaging portion.

Optical scanning apparatus

An image forming apparatus capable of controlling an image forming position with high accuracy. The image forming apparatus has a plurality of image forming sections each including a photosensitive drum and a laser scanner. The laser scanner exposes the photosensitive drum to form an electrostatic latent image thereon. The image forming section develops the electrostatic latent image formed on the photosensitive drum to form a toner image, and the toner image is transferred onto an intermediate transfer belt. A thermistor in the laser scanner detects the internal temperature of the laser scanner. The image forming apparatus controls the image forming sections to form detection patterns on the intermediate transfer belt. An image forming position is corrected based on the temperature detected by the thermistor and a result of measurement of the detection patterns.

In an image forming apparatus including a main assembly and a scanning optical apparatus which is inserted into the main assembly of the image forming apparatus in a substantially horizontal direction and is mounted to the apparatus main assembly, in order to fix the scanning optical apparatus to the apparatus main assembly in a state in which the scanning optical apparatus is inserted at a predetermined insertion position of the apparatus main assembly, a leaf spring member for urging an end of the scanning optical apparatus with respect to an insertion direction of the scanning optical apparatus is provided on the main assembly of the image forming apparatus or the scanning optical apparatus and a cushioning member press-contacting the leaf spring member between the main assembly of the image forming apparatus and the scanning optical apparatus is provided.

At least one exemplary embodiment is directed to an optical unit adapted to irradiate image exposure light to an image carrier comprises a frame containing optical parts arranged therein and having an opening, and a cover adapted to cover the opening. The cover can be fixed by fixing members to the frame at three points in a first plane including the opening. The cover can further be fixed by fixing members to the frame at a second plane positioned on the frame and being adjacent to the first plane and at a third plane positioned on the frame and being not parallel to the second plane. Thus, an optical unit can be obtained which has high rigidity while, when the cover is attached to the opening, maintaining satisfactory flatness of the cover in a plane including the opening.

A flash device of the type in which the flash tube is coated with a trigger electrode and is positioned in contact with the back metal constituting part of the reflector so that when the trigger signal is applied directly to the back metal, the flash tube is triggered. In this type of flash device the back metal constituting part of the reflector is configured to a round shape. Because of the necessity of insuring good light distribution it is generally made of bright alloy aluminum. This not only makes it difficult to finely adjust the position of the flash tube relative to the back metal and electrically connect the trigger wire lead with the back metal, but also gives rise to a problem of electrically insulating the back metal from the other metallic parts since a very high voltage for triggering is applied to the back metal. The present invention provides a flash device which has solved the various problems by providing the back metal with embossed portions to adjust the position of the flash tube, by pressure-setting the connection of the trigger wire lead with the back metal, and by applying an electrically insulating coating on the back surface of the back metal.

In an automatically focusing camera, the lens is driven to infinity during film winding and the film winding spool is blocked when film winding is completed. Upon shutter release actuation of the camera, film winding is unblocked when the automatic focusing circuit energizes a first magnet and lens rotation is blocked at the focused position when the automatic focusing circuit energizes a second magnet. A single control member operates to effect blocking of the film winding mechanism and to drive the lens to infinity when rotated in one direction, and to unblock the film winding mechanism when rotated in the opposite direction.
