It is an object of the present invention is to provide fabric for use in ink-jet printing that can prevent not only 'ink bleeding', but also 'white exposure', &#x201c;nonuniform coloration&#x201d; and &#x201c;back staining&#x201d;. A further object of the present invention is the provision of fabric for use in ink-jet printing, consisting of two textures&#x2014;napped and ground, which can be evenly ink-jet printed with no variation in color between both, while preventing the occurrence of &#x201c;white exposure&#x201d;, &#x201c;nonuniform coloration&#x201d; and &#x201c;back staining&#x201d;. To provide a method for processing a cloth to form a three-dimensional design pattern on the cloth not only by a conventional printing system, but also by an ink-jet system. A method for processing a cloth to form a three-dimensional design pattern on the cloth, which involves two processes&mdash;one in which it is treated with a Solution A containing a salt formed from a phenol derivative and a hydroxide of an alkali metal or alkali-earth metal and the other in which it is treated with Solution B containing a chemical capable of restoring the salt in solution A to its original phenol derivative. The present invention is advantageous in using highly safe water-soluble chemicals, allowing their uniform application to a cloth to form a three-dimensional design pattern on the cloth. In addition, the present invention has the advantage of allowing the cloth to be subjected simultaneous to fiber shrinking and coloring, making it very conducive to the production of printed goods with highly accurate and uniform three-dimensional design patterns at reduced costs.

Method for processing cloth

Provided is a polyester fabric for ink jet recording which is suitable for outdoor use. A treating solution comprising a water-swelling resin (A) comprising a reaction product of a polycarbonate polyol and a polyisocyanate compound and having a sulfite group at the side chain and a number average molecular weight of 20,000 to 100,000; a water-swelling resin (B) comprising a reaction product of a polycarbonate polyol and a polyisocyanate compound and having a sulfite group at the side chain and a number average molecular weight of 5,000 to 15,000, wherein a blocking agent is reacted with active isocyanate groups positioned at both terminals of the water-swelling resin to mask the terminal isocyanates; and water-retentive microparticles (C) is applied to a polyester fabric, followed by heat-treating to form the fabric for ink jet recording.
