A method in which the distribution of a retouch coefficient in a subject region is specified by two data tables so that the retouch coefficient is readily changed at a high speed. A distance table 61 includes distance data Dd each representing a distance between a center pixel and each of the other pixels. A coefficient table 62 includes values of a retouch coefficient Kb dependent on the distance data Dd. The retouch coefficient Kb is changed by only rewriting the coefficient table 62. The retouch coefficient Kb at each pixel is determined based on the distance table 61 and the coefficient table 62 and is added to image data Di to modify the image data Dr.

Method of and apparatus for modifying image by adjusting modification

An apparatus for transferring data in a time-sharing mode includes a plurality of modules connected to a common bus line for transferring data therethrough, a bus controller for controlling a time-sharing transfer of data between the modules, and a system controller connected to the modules and bus controller through a bidirectional command line. The system controller is operable, upon receipt of a data transfer request or data transfer completion notice from certain of the modules, to command the bus controller to generate or eliminate a bus slot. Then, the bus controller sets a new bus slot to a bus cycle, or eliminates a designated slot from the bus cycle, thereby to vary the number of slots constituting the bus cycle. Slot enable signals corresponding to the respective slots are transmitted to the modules through the bus line. Each module successively compares a slot number and slot enable signals, and exchanges data with the bus line upon agreement between the slot number and slot enable signals.

Time-sharing data transfer apparatus

The present invention makes it possible to reduce the processing time by dividing an image, which is to be subjected to a processing, into a plurality of sections and subjecting the thus-divided images to an image processing in a limited memory space, especially, by making most effective use of the memory spaces of plural buffer memories to reduce the number of divisions of the original picture when a high-speed affine transformation is performed in the plural buffer memories.

Transfer of data can be controlled by connecting operation modules, which share a single-circuit data bus line, together by a single-circuit handshake line, allocating the timing of use of the data bus line by time-division techniques in synchronization with a handshake clock when sending out and accepting data among the operation modules, and forming a gate circuit via the handshake line between two of the operation modules, whereby to detect coincidence of a data send ready state and a data accept ready state in the two of the operation modules. The above controlling method permits use of fewer control line, simple pipeline processing, shorter standing time, etc.

Control method of data transfer

A method for subdividing the addresses of a multi-dimensional memory, having n-dimensional addresses defined over a logical address space which is divided into a plurality of unit divisions. Each unit division has several vertices each of which is addressable by one of the n-dimensional addresses. Each one of the addresses associated with a given unit division is divided and allocated to a distinct memory bank so that no two addresses of the same unit division are in the same memory bank. There are a total of 2.sup.n memory banks, each having independent data lines and address lines. The original n-dimensional address of the vertices determines to which memory bank the vertex address will be allocated. Moreover, the n-dimensional address also determines the address of the given vertex within the memory bank to which it has been allocated. Thus, the data corresponding to all the vertices of a given unit division can be accessed simultaneously to thereby significantly reduce data retrieval times in many applications.

Method for composing addresses of a memory

A method for varying colors of a picture image, displayed in a color display, for reproducing a color printed matter, in which density signals of cyan, magenta, yellow and black, picked up from an original picture are fed to a color display to display a color picture image corresponding to the color printed matter to be obtained is disclosed. Color ink signals of cyan, magenta and yellow for recording a color printed matter are converted into color separation density signals of red, green and blue by using the first table memories, and then the converted color separation density signals are added one by one. Then, correction values for printing the color inks one above another, read out of the second table memories depending on the color ink signals, are added to the added color separation density signals. A correction value for printing the black ink upon the other color inks, read out of the third table memory depending on the black and the color ink signals, may be added to thus the obtained signal.
