A Cu&#x2014;Ga alloy sputtering target of the present invention is made of a Cu&#x2014;Ga alloy, in which a carbon concentration is 30 ppm by mass or lower. In an observed structure, an area ratio of crystal grains having a grain size of 10 &#x3bc;m or less is 5% to 50% and an area ratio of crystal grains having a grain size of 100 &#x3bc;m or more is 1% to 30%.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a synthetic amorphous silica powder which is suitable as a raw material for a synthetic silica glass product used in a high-temperature and reduced-pressure environment, which can yield a synthetic silica product such that the occurrence or expansion of air bubbles in the glass product is inhibited even in use in a high-temperature and reduced-pressure environment, and which can be obtained at a relatively low cost; and a process for manufacturing the same.

A rotating electric machine includes a rotor and a stator. The stator coil of the stator includes a set of a first stator coil and a second stator coil that is stored in an adjacent slot to a slot in which the first stator coil is stored, with a number of the set being same as a number of phases, and one end of each of the first stator coil and the second stator coil is a lead section and an other end is a neutral point. A plurality of the stator coils are arranged radially in layers in each slot, and a lead section of the first stator coil and a lead section of the second stator coil are connected with each other with one of the lead sections extending from an outermost layer of the slot and an other of the lead sections extending from an innermost layer of the slot so that the connected lead sections constitute an external connection terminal.

A gap is formed between an end of the stator core and a lower surface of the distribution unit by mounting the distribution unit on an upper part of the coil end section. The gap constitutes a path for the coolant.

A surge protector coated with an oxide layer having an excellent chemical stability at the high temperature range and excellent adherence with respect to main discharge electrodes. The surge protector includes a column-shaped ceramic member that has a conductive film divided by a discharge gap interposed therebetween; a pair of main discharge electrode members opposite to each other on both ends of the column-shaped ceramic member to come in contact with the conductive film; and a cylindrical ceramic tube which is fitted to the pair of main discharge electrode members opposite to each other to seal both the column-shaped ceramic member and sealing gas inside thereof.
