An image processing apparatus includes a corrector and a determinator. The corrector corrects a correspondence between display pixels of a display unit and data pixels on an image signal to be inputted to the display pixels so that at least one of the display pixels is defined as a mask pixel to which the image signal is no longer inputted. The determinator determines a gradation of the mask pixel in accordance with a gradation indicated by the image signal to be inputted to an edge pixel that is included in the display pixels and located at an edge of the display pixels.

In at least one embodiment, an electro-optical device displays a right-eye image and a left-eye image for each display period. The driving circuit supplies a gradation potential to each of the pixels according to a specific gradation using image data which corresponds to the unit period in each of a plurality of unit periods in each of the display periods, and sequentially selects one or more scanning lines in a plurality of lines and supplies a gradation potential to each of the signal lines according to a specific gradation of each of the pixels which corresponds to the one or more scanning lines in a selected state in a unit period in each of the display periods. An electronic apparatus includes first and second panels. A scanning line driving circuit is formed in each of the first and second panels. The scanning line driving circuit can perform a scanning to select k scanning lines for every k lines from m scanning lines. A first start pulse signal supplied to the first panel and a second start pulse signal supplied to the second panel can be temporarily shifted only an integer multiple of half of a horizontal scanning period of the scanning. Thus, even when a high-definition image is displayed at a high speed using the scanning, the position of a display image can be minutely adjusted, and thus a high-quality image can be displayed.

A driving circuit applies a voltage according to an assigned grayscale during each unit period of each display period, in such a manner that the applied voltage to a liquid crystal element during one of the unit periods and the applied voltage to the liquid crystal element during the other of the unit periods are opposite in polarity during each of the display periods, and an overdrive control unit enables the drive circuit to perform overdrive of a compensation grayscale according to a display image during the corresponding display period and to a display image during the immediately preceding display period during each of the first and second unit periods of each of the display periods, during each of the display periods.

An electro-optical device displays a right-eye image and a left-eye image for each display period. The driving circuit supplies a gradation potential to each of the pixels according to a specific gradation using image data which corresponds to the unit period in each of a plurality of unit periods in each of the display periods, and sequentially selects the scanning lines in a plurality of lines and supplies a gradation potential to each of the signal lines according to a specific gradation of each of the pixels which corresponds to any of the scanning lines out of the plurality of lines in a selected state in a unit period in each of the display periods. A driving control section executes overdrive of each of the pixels in the driving circuit in each of two or more unit periods which include the unit period in each of the display periods.

An electro-optical device displays a right-eye image and a left-eye image for each display period. In each of the display periods, a driving circuit executes first synchronization selection driving where a first group where scanning lines are segmented into units of two is sequentially selected and a gradation potential is supplied to each of the signal lines according to a gradation in the odd rows, and executes second synchronization selection driving where a second group which is different to the first group is sequentially selected and a gradation potential is supplied to each of the signal lines according to a gradation in the even rows. A display control circuit which controls the driving circuit so that the gradation potential is supplied to each of the signal lines according to a specific gradation which corresponds to the first scanning lines of a display region.

A method of driving the electro-optical device includes selecting a plurality of scanning lines in a predetermined order in each of first and second fields of one frame; when one of the plurality of scanning lines is selected in the first field, for each pixel located on the selected scanning line, supplying one of a positive voltage and a negative voltage as the data signal to one of the plurality of data lines associated with the pixel, the positive voltage having a positive polarity corresponding to a voltage higher than a predetermined reference potential and the negative polarity corresponding to a voltage lower than the predetermined reference potential; and when the one of the plurality of scanning lines is selected in the second field, for each pixel located on the selected scanning line, supplying the other one of the positive voltage and the negative voltage as the data signal to one of the plurality of data lines associated with the pixel. A ratio between durations of the first field and the second field of the one frame is adjustable.

A driving circuit for an electro-optical device, that drives an electro-optical device having a plurality of data lines and a plurality of scanning lines extending so as to cross each other and a plurality of pixel units connected to the scanning lines and the data lines to form a display surface, includes a memory into/from which image signals are written/read, such that the plurality of pixel units perform grayscale display, a scanning line driving unit that selects the scanning lines and supplies scanning signals to the selected scanning lines, a data line driving unit that selects the data lines and supplies the image signals read out from the memory to the selected data lines, and a control unit that controls an operation of at least one of the scanning line driving unit and the data line driving unit, such that at least one of a selection sequence of the plurality of scanning lines and a selection sequence of the plurality of data lines is inverted at a predetermined inversion cycle, and that controls writing and reading of the image signals in the memory, such that the image signals written into the memory are read out in a state in which an arrangement sequence of the image signals is inverted at the inversion cycle.
