An anticorrosive primer composition comprises (1) 100 parts by weight of an epoxy resin having a number-average molecular weight of from 500 to 10,000, (2) from 10 to 60 parts by weight of an aromatic polyamine containing from 2% to 30% by weight, based on the aromatic polyamine, of a promoter selected from the group consisting of phenol compounds and cresol compounds, (3) from 10 to 60 parts by weight of a polyisocyanate, (4) from 10 to 40 phr, based on the sum of components (1), (2), and (3), of silica particles of colloidal silica or fumed silica or a mixture of these, (5) from 0.5 to 5 phr of a lubricant, and (6) an organic solvent. The composition is particularly suitable for use to apply onto the chromate coating of a chromated, zinc-plated steel sheet.

Anticorrosive primer composition

A precoated steel sheet having improved corrosion resistance and formability is disclosed, which comprises a Zn- or Zn alloy-plated steel sheet having on the plated surface either a colloidal silica-containing chromate undercoat layer and a polyhydroxypolyether resin-based topcoat of 0.3 to 10 .mu.m in thickness in which resin is derived by polycondensation of a dihydric phenol component selected from a mononuclear dihydric phenol, dinuclear dihydric phenol, and a mixture of both, with an epihalohydrin or a non-colloidal material-containing chromate underlayer and an epoxy resin based topcoat containing colloidal silica of a thickness of from 0.3-1.6 .mu.m in thickness. In spite of the absence of zinc powder, the precoated steel sheet can be satisfactorily welded by resistance welding when the thickness of the topcoat layer is not greater than 2.5 .mu.m, and even with such a thin topcoat, the precoated steel sheet retains its improved corrosion resistance and formability. The precoated steel sheet can be satisfactorily finish-coated by electrodeposition. The undercoat layer is produced by a two stage reduction of Cr.sup.+6 to Cr.sup.+3 in an aqueous suspension containing chromic acid.

A vibration-damping material consisting of two metal plates and a vibration-damping layer of thermoplastic resin interposed between the two metal plates, in which said thermoplastic resin has a percentage of wlongation at 20.degree. C. of 30% or more, preferably 50% or more, a peak temperature of dissipation factor (tan .delta.) in the range of -50.degree. C. to 130.degree. C., and a bonding strength toward the metal plates of 3 kg/cm or more as determined by 180.degree.-peeling test at 20.degree. C.

Vibration-damping material

A rigid metal-resin-metal sandwich laminate capable of withstanding 180.degree. bending with a threshold bending inner diameter of less than or equal to twice the total laminate thickness and suitable for use in the manufacture of building materials, containers, and particularly automotive parts including automotive outer panels is disclosed. The laminate comprises a resin layer sandwiched between and bonded to outer metal layers wherein the resin layer is comprised of a core sheet sandwiched between outer resin sheets, said core sheet being made of a resin which exhibits plastic behavior and which is bonded to said outer resin sheets with or without an adhesive layer, and said outer resin sheets being made of a ductile resin which does not exhibit yielding behavior or necking when stretched.

An injection molding process for forming cross-linked, foamed moldings of an ethylenic polymer by passing a molding composition comprising an ethylenic polymer/cross-linking agent/foaming agent blend through the cylinder of an injection molding machine without substantially decomposing the cross-linking agent and the foaming agent, introducing the molding composition into a molding composition holding chamber provided at the exit end of the cylinder of the injection molding machine to decompose the cross-linking agent and the foaming agent therein, and injecting the molding composition into a mold. The invention also provides apparatus for carrying out the process comprising an injection molding cylinder for conveying and plasticizing the molding composition and a molding composition holding chamber provided at the exit end of the cylinder.
