A battery pack to be externally attached to a system body of a portable computer contains a plurality of batteries in two rows. A groove is formed on that portion of the top of the battery pack which correspond to the region between the rows of batteries. A hinge unit for swingably supporting a display unit is provided on the rear end of the system body of the computer in a manner such that it is partially housed in the groove of the battery pack. With this arrangement, the computer is reduced in thickness. The battery pack, which is connected to the rear end of the system body, is rotatable relatively to the system body. During use of the computer, therefore, a keyboard can be slightly declined toward a user by rotating the battery pack to raise the rear end of the system body.

Portable computer with detachable battery pack

A battery pack to be externally attached to a system body of a portable computer contains a plurality of batteries in two-rows. A television receiver employs a liquid crystal display panel mounted in a unit which can be set into either a closed position in which the display panel is disposed within a recessed portion of the case of the television set, and an opened position in which ambient light passes through the display panel to be reflected from a mirror towards the viewer. In conjunction with this arrangement, operating control members are positioned to facilitate one-hand operation of the receiver, and the largest circuit components and batteries are positioned with respect to the display panel and control members such as to minimize the overall size of the receiver.

Liquid crystal display television receiver

A liquid crystal television receiver has a first housing containing a television receiving circuit, a mirror mounted on an upper portion thereof, and a battery for driving the television receiving circuit, a second housing containing a liquid crystal display panel, and a third housing containing a light emitting element. The first, second and third housings are pivotally connected with each other at rear portions thereof, respectively.

Liquid crystal television receiver

A tuning device has a dial drum rotatably supported in a frame, and a rheostat operatively connected to the dial drum. A knob is disposed in alignment with the dial drum. The dial drum has an outer toothing formed on the periphery thereof. A drive gear is secured to the knob, and a reduction gear train is disposed between the drive gear and the outer toothing for transmitting the rotation of the drive gear to the dial drum.

Tuning device

An electronic calculator watch which comprises timekeeping means composed of an oscillator, a frequency divider connected to the oscillator, a counter circuit connected to the frequency divider, and a driver circuit connected to the counter circuit for providing an output signal indicative of time information, and calculating means composed of an oscillator circuit and a calculation circuit responsive to perform calculations under control of numerical inputs furnished by external operation device provided on a watch case. The watch also comprises a display including a first display section connected to the driver circuit of the timekeeping means to display the output signal delivered therefrom, and a second display section connected to the calculating means to display the result of calculations, each of the first and second display sections having a plurality of digit electrodes and a plurality of segment electrodes arranged in a matrix configuration.

A booster circuit for an electronic timepiece having a power supply and a display device adapted to be driven in a matrix driving mode, which comprises a Cockcroft circuit connected to one terminal of the power supply to provide a plurality of boosted output voltages to the display device and voltage compensating means connected to the other terminal of the power supply to compensate for voltage drops caused by said Cockcroft circuit.

Booster circuit for electronic timepiece

An electronic alarm watch having an external operation device, which comprises a timekeeping section and an electronic calculator. The timekeeping section is composed of a quartz crystal oscillator connected to a first battery and providing a relatively high frequency signal to provide a low frequency signal, a counter circuit responsive to the low frequency signal to provide time information signals, a driver circuit providing driving signals in response to the time information signals, a time display section in response to the driving signals, an alarm time detection circuit connected to the counter circuit to detect an alarm time set by the external operation device, and an acoustic device responsive to an output from the alarm time detection circuit to generate a sound indicative of the alarm time. The electronic calculator is composed of a calculating section connected to the external operation device to perform calculation in response to input signals delivered from the external operation device, a calculator display section, and a booster circuit connected to second batteries to supply boosted output voltage to the calculating section and the calculator display section.
